Grand Elk Golf Course
About
Nestled within the Colorado Rockies, Grand Elk Golf Club in Granby, Colo. offers stunning mountain views from every hole. The course has a links-layout inspired by the inland golf courses of the British Isles. The low-lying vegetation and gently rolling terrain lend a heathland feel to the course. The fairways are wide and undulating and the large greens have ample contours as well. The layout has an interesting mix of holes with some that are straightforward and others that twist into tricky doglegs, but nearly all are flanked with sod-faced bunkers. There are more than 60 bunkers coming into play throughout Grand Elk Golf Club, and water hazards come into play on four holes. Besides just being a fun and challenging round, the magnificent views that stretch across the snow-capped peaks of the Continental Divide are not to be missed.

Decent course
Grand Elk can be tough if you've never played. It can be spot golf on many of the holes. Blind landings and a lot of trouble. Do yourself a favor and leave the driver in the bag if you are playing for the first time. They've had financial troubles in the past so a lot of the cart paths and bridges are deteriorating. I haven't played since the homeowners bought it so maybe it's better now. The staff was friendly. I played with my father who is from sea level. He was having trouble with the altitude and they were nice enough to give him a handicap flag for the cart. Very nice of them. The clubhouse is beautiful. Not my favorite mountain course, but a decent one.
pro shop was not helpful and not friendly
course is relatively flat but has character with water hazards. our original gps did not work. fortunately the original person at the pro shop did not answer the phone so we were able to get a replacement cart fairly quickly. we went early to have lunch only to find that they were out of all of draft beer, and several of the menu items for lunch.
Great Experience
Beautiful course in a beautiful location! The holes are set up to be challenging and require some creativity to avoid the fairway bunkers. The holes are also a fair test, without gimmicks.
The course was layed out very well.
The course was generally in very good shape. The greens were not in very good shape. There were dead spots all over the greens. I had to move my ball numerous times to avoid putting over the bad spots.
beautiful setting
This course gives you lots of room off the tee so it is very playable. Lots of variety. The greens are very fair, good pace to them. The third hole is probably the best designed short par four that I have seen. Lots of good use of the marshes. Bunkers need more sand. A very well thought out and designed golf course!
Lots of CARRY!
This course has several holes with carry to reach the fairway. The course runs through a wetlands area, so you can't venture off into the deep stuff to find your ball without waders. With the doglegs and wetlands requiring shots of less than driver off of many tees, you can't just bomb and go. This means it plays challenging even from the forward tees.
Course is in great shape. Greens are what I've come to expect from Mountain courses. A little patchy in spots. Great views.
very good course. Several tee's for every level of golfer. Well maintianed. Staff very friendly. I would definatly recommend it. Also great views.
Unique. Fun to play.
Great. Fun to play. Unique and challenging. Nice practice facility.
Fun course, nice scenery
Fun course with fairly wide landing area. Balls missing the fairway by a lot are gone. Course conditions are fine, but not pristine by any means.
The course has great valley views
The course was not accomidating at all with tee times booked through Golf Now. They said they could not change a time booked through Golf Now, even when suggesting paying the difference. No problem I though, except I watched unfilled tee time after tee time for an hour. Checked again, "sorry we are starting to fill up now" the guy in the golf shop said. Back to the range I go and for the next hour, I watched 3 twosomes go off. I have never had an experience with a Golf Now reservation, not sure why this particular coures seemed so difficult to deal with. And to make matters worse, the greens were in horrible condition. They were covering up winter kill with that green colored sand. My recomendation would be the course at Sol Tera. Haven't tried it yet, but the people were great and the layout looks really nice.
It was a great experience.
The course was in great shape and a very friendly, knowledgable and courteous staff. For my level of golf the course can be challenging but not overly so that you can enjoy the round.
Great course with great views and difficult greens
Have played here a few times. This last one seemed to really get my attention. The greens were hard and slick. If you didnt have some spin on the ball.... see ya.
Its a challenging course but not extreme. There is plenty of bail out area for errant shots. We had better than average service, and the cart girl was around periodically for a busy Friday morning.
I will be back.
