Clearview Park
Pace of play 4hrs not bad for having the most played rounds in NYC. Course in excellent shape . Greens firm. Only compliant would be to clear the leaves from fairway.
Stay away
What decent golf course books a golf outing at 9.00 am on a Saturday morning? Golf courses who don’t care about their customers book early weekend golf outings. Especially to groups of poor players who don’t know golf etiquette and just want to get drunk. The course is not maintained at all. The fairways are like cow pastures The greens are very slow and extremely wobbly. I will never return.
Terrible conditions
Temporary tee box’s, patchy fairways, airratted greens, poor management, need I say more!
This course in in horrible condition. The worse I have seen in a while. I like the layout but the conditions need a 180 before I return. No grass on fairways and greens in very poor condition. Not worth the money they are charging.
An old man a the teebox was rude
He didn’t say when to play and who to play with when check in.
Then he yelled us due to we didn’t play together in very rude way.
They never maintain the course
I come back to this course sometimes, because it is closest to my place. However I get disappointed anytime I play. The grass on the course seems to have never been maintained and some men in the pro shop are not very friendly. I hope they will invest more because the layout is good and they are in a very good location.
Great for casual golfers
This course is perfect for the casual golfer. Not many fairway or green hazards (bunkers, water). The flag system is also great. Red flag means the flag is located at the front of the green, white flag is the middle, and blue is towards the back. Very helpful in deciding which club to aim for the flag with. Overall a manageable course and the 2nd cut won’t swallow your ball should you miss the fairway.
Needs money spent on maintenance
Course is in poor condition considering the time of year. Tees are patchy at best, while the fairways might get cut once a week with general play keeping them just about short enough. The fairways at bethpage run faster and truer than the greens here, they’re in desperate need of over-seeding and rolling once a week. If the course got the love it deserves it would be a solid track. I also don’t understand the logic of having people checkin and pay right before you’re due to tee off and having tee times run at least 10-15 mins behind schedule. The only positive is that the cart girl managed to get around at least twice per 9 making things a little more bearable. Don’t think I’ll play here again.
Course in HORRIBLE shape!
The course was fun to play with before the current management (American Golf) took over. Then I have seen it getting worsening year after year. Staff trying to sell annual membership rather than checking in players in line so typically you have to wait 20-45 minutes to tee off!! Poor pace of play, 5-10 minutes backup on every hole in the weekends is NORMAL and the management won’t care about it, keep sending people out. Course in the worse shape since 2008, fairways are ruined with barely any grass, roughs are no roughs all cut down low so less effort for maintenance I guess, many bunkers have no sand in it, greens are rough and patchy, very irregular speeds!! All in all, CAN SOMEONE DO SOMETHING? PLEASE CHANGE THE MANAGEMENT!!
Not worth your time or money. Stay away!!!
Do. Not. Play. This. Golf. Course. This course is a horrible choice if you are looking to have an enjoyable round of golf. Every time I've played this course there has been a backup of at least 30 minutes. The pace of play is also the worst I've seen at any City course, which is saying a lot because they are mostly all overcrowded and slow. There is zero presence from rangers or course staff out on the course. Besides the guys behind us, who also seemed horrified with the pace of play, every group we saw displayed the worst habits that create slow play such as: not being ready to hit when it's your turn, 4 or more practice swings on every shot, standing around and talking instead of playing with an open hole ahead, playing from the wrong tees for their skill level, etc. All in all our round took 5h 45m which combined with our 30 minute delay at start created a 6+ hour miserable experience.
Now on to the course condition; half of the teeing areas are dirt, there are worn down tire paths in some fairways, there are inexplicable rings of dirt around the perimeter of the greens which make scrambling completely unpredictable. Additionally there are trees overhanging several teeing areas that force you to make super-awkward choices such as needing to hit a mid-iron on a 100 yard par 3 to keep ball flight low enough. There are also several holes with huge, driving-range-height nets jutting into your shot line in order to protect houses nearby.
The management of this golf course is clearly both incompetent and uncaring. In the right hands this could be a fun, memorable experience in a convenient location. Unfortunately though, it's the opposite. This is not the way the game of golf should be delivered. If anything, this experience will turn people off of the game, rather than endear them to it.
In short, this is the worst experience I've ever had on a golf course and I'm never going back. I literally wouldn't play it again if it was free. I'd advise everyone who loves the game to stay far away from Clearview.
