excellent greens
The greens were fast and rolled true. The course has a lot of water but is very fair.
Very nice layout..... Wear an EMF blocker though
I played the course on 06/21/14 in perfect weather conditions. My threesome got an awesome rate on Golfnow and the course was well worth it. The course plays tight in spots and there is plenty of trouble lurking just off the fairways. Keep a sharp eye out for the cattails because there are sneaky hazards all over. The carts were gas powered and reasonably well maintained. The bunkers were clean, raked and loamed. The fairways were tight and in good shape. The greens were huge and in decent shape, but unfortunately a lot of players were ignoring their pitch marks. We fixed at least two on every green NOT made by us. The greens have a lot of subtle breaks and you can hemorrhage strokes on them. The one real quirk (and danger) of this course is that there are high tension power lines cutting across it in several places. You can hear them crackling and humming above you.... and if you ever wondered about the true power of electrical fields, hear this.....I have mylar name/I.d. tags just below the grips on all my clubs. I was putting on two separate greens while standing below the power lines and got a strong static shock from my labels when I inadvertently touched them. If I were a member here or played here more often, I think I'd invest in one of those EMF blocker pendants of bracelets. That's a lot of juice cutting through the air.
Father's Day Delay
I made a poor choice to take my son out for the first time in several years (after a frustrating attempt when he was younger) on Father's Day...at 8am. The first hole was more painful than we thought, and we had backed up several groups before we finished putting. The ranger was waiting for us as we left the green, and delivered the bad news with 100% professionalism and honesty. We were treated with respect while he upheld his duty to the other golfers patiently waiting. We were offered rain checks and additional compensation and left with out dignity intact. Those patiently waiting were able to avoid what would have been excruciating delays for the next several hours. We'll be back after a few rounds at the local muni course!
It was a great day
Course is nice, has a few challenging holes, but in general its relatively easy.
Course is for intermediate and better players
The greens where good, fairways need care and the play was very slow. Three groups in the same fairway most of the time. Staff was friendly, but not knowledgeable.
Course has some fun holes. Fun to play.
Golf course was extremely wet due to the unusual amount of rain in the region this spring/summer. Lots of areas weren't as manicured as they'd of liked. Greens were good, a bit slow. Fairways are ryegrass and were marginal due to the rain, which of course couldn't be helped. Overall I enjoyed the course and would play there again.
Great greens and interesting layout
There had been plenty of rain for several days before we played so the course was still wet. I have to go back and play it when it dries out.
In spite of the wetness, the greens were perfect and quick. I would give it a 5 star if the fairways were dry. The layout is interesting and fair. Several water hazards and few fairway bunkers.
This is the best buy available in the central NY area. Don't bother with the West course - no comparison.
A word of warning, they do not have reserved tee times so if you book online don't get a late tee time on Mon.-Thurs. since they have league play.
Get your tee time and go any time. First come first serve. Call ahead to see if they have an outing etc.
