Solid Course
Challenging greens but overall a solid course to play. The breeze coming in from the water is welcome on hot days!
Best NYC Course
I have been playing city courses since 1992 and this course is by far the best I have ever played. The layout, the attention to the greens, bunkers and tee boxes is not matched anywhere. Some of the other courses can take care of one of these aspects of a course, but at Marine Park all three are well maintained. I played with some gentlemen who told me what the course was once like and they could not say enough about the transformation. The fairways have plenty of variation and drain very well. The dunes all over the course make it attractive and challenging. Love the practice range and plenty of parking. The staff was friendly and helpful. My only negative comment is regarding the gas carts and the awful cart paths… Hope they can get to that next!
Slow but fun
I had a great experience playing my first round ever at Marine park. I had a great twosome play with me and we enjoyed each other’s company and the course. Unfortunately there was a terribly slow and inconsiderate foursome ahead of us that made the play extend to 4hrs and 50 mins. Other than that, it was a great day for golf and the staff were super friendly and accommodating. I will make this a weekly visit, weather allowing.
Course Great Shape
Green in very good conditions and they are fast. Course is in really good shape. Nice driving range only negative the golf carts are old and warn out.
Only A Matter Of Time
Played yesterday, course in excellent condition. Played the front 9 without incident, got to 10 and there was 6 golfers playing together, our twosome that was playing with us bailed after 9 so we were stuck behind 6 golfers who never thought of letting us play through- and they sucked!!! Drunk with coolers and playing like they were in The Masters. Tried calling pro shop- no answer! Tried calling the managers office- No Answer!
This is Brooklyn golf. This type of behavior. Ruined our day and weekend with selfish, thoughtless stupidity. No ranger - nobody to call. I’m calling the pro shop , but doubt anything will be done. You can’t make this up- horrific!
Best Muni Track In NYC. Period.
I’ve played them all. This is by far the most legit of the NYC muni courses. Typically the pace of play is not an issue, I think this one time it was because of bad weather earlier in the day. Great staff, good hot dogs. The greens are impeccable- having played Bethpage Blue only last weekend I’m telling you… they aren’t that far off from that level right now, which shocks me to say. Lots of undulations, tricky breaks that make you think. Overall a very nice layout where you aren’t on top of everyone else like you see at other NYC tracks- worth the extra commute!
Improving
Course is in better shape than last year.
Play is very slow because nobody checks.
