Grey Hawk Golf Club
About
Grey Hawk Golf Club is a challenging but playable course that is a Cleveland area favorite. It brings resort-quality golf to a remote location in LaGrange that is seemingly in the middle of nowhere. The rolling landscape is the ideal terrain for links-style golf. The course demands accuracy with lightning fast greens surrounded by bunkers and be sure not to stray from the fairways or you'll almost definitely be left with an uneven lie. Unlike a typical links golf course, there are water hazards coming into play on several holes on this layout. The 11th hole features a tricky island green while the third hole has an equally challenging "island green" that is surrounded by sand. Grey Hawk Golf Club is a formidable but fair test with interesting and diverse hole designs.

WOW
The lady in the pro shop was very friendly and customer obsessed. The amenities were top notch, they had a great “club house dog!!”
The course layout was one of my favorites I’ve ever been around. Challenging as heck at times and just had a great feel all the way through. Greens rolled nice and you can just tell that it is well taken care of year round. Huge fan. Thanks guys!!
The Hawk is Challenging for Us Old Hacks
Crowded golf course on this Thursday morning --great weather, course in great condition, and no excuse ......... except for poor swings & poor putting. This is just such a fun course to play, but this day it was more like work for me. The restaurant is good, the ProShop very accommodating, and grounds crew visibly working hard to maintain course. The bunkers need a little work, although I can't complain with a couple of sand-saves, but some are more dirt than sand. Keep the ball outta water hazards & you'll do fine. I'll be back!
Another Good Round at Grey Hawk
Keep up the great work Grey Hawk staff! Greens were perfect again for our group. We have really enjoyed our 3 rounds at 'the hawk' this year.
Beautiful!!
Played here on a Wednesday Morning and the lady inside was very nice and walked me through the layout of the course because it was my first time playing. The course was in great shape and there are some easier holes but several challenging ones. I will definitely be back to play this gem!
Let it Fly at The Hawk
First, I like how this review asks you to rate "Challenge of course" -- any course with water & sand will be challenging if you can't keep the ball out of those hazards. I can always take a bloodbath on #7 or 8 or 9 or 11 or 15 ........and this particular day was more about watching my buddies hit good shots & score in the 70's. The course is in great shape, the staff is friendly, and the beverages on the patio/deck are cold & necessary to forget a poor round of golf. I'll be back next week to redeem some confidence & hopefully score closer to my capabilities.
Hot Day @ The Hawk
GreyHawk still in nice shape, all things considered .....the weather has been tough on courses this Spring/Summer, as it goes from too much rain to a squelching hot 95* sun-baked day on this Friday. The challenges of the Course Super never ends ........but always have a good time at the Hawk. Certainly not necessarily a good score, but a bomb of a putt #18 for Birdie keeps the avid golfer coming back to the scene. This day should have been good for scoring --greens holding shots & putting smoothly (although they are freckled), no wind/breeze (unless you count sun-rays), cart-girl roaming the paths to quench a thirst, and a cool Hawk's Nest beverage to relax & continue the day.
Country Club like Course
Best value for the $ in N E Ohio. Outstanding layout, well kept, fast greens, huge clubhouse and restaurant. Love playing there
Best value in NEO
Greens are PERFECT. Fairways are FLAWLESS. Tee boxes are PRISTINE. Course is a fabulous track. Island par 3 green. Gettable par 5s. And at the price this is by far the best value in NEO. If it wasn’t for a few bad years this course would be $70 a round on weekend and worth every penny. Take advantage of the pricing while you can- they definitely won’t be this low for long!
Awesome Morning @ The Hawk
After a lot of rain here in Northern Ohio (for the past 4-5wks), GreyHawk is of course nice lush & green. The greens are awesome, holding incoming shots & quick smooth rolls (except with my jerky stroke). This morning, no wind, which takes the teeth outta-the-Hawk; it does still have plenty of water hazards (hard to tell whether it was fish jumpin' or my ball splashing). No roll-out in the fairways or bunny-hops onto greens, but I can't say enough good things about the course conditions. This is such a fun course to play, and GN provides very affordable rates. Hawk's Nest (restaurant) is doing fine, and patio drinks/dining is leisurely fun.
Repair your ball marks & keep the greens as awesome as I described here this morning.
five star
Gray Hawk is back & probably top 3 public courses in NE Ohio right now! Fairways & Greens are sweet!
Country club greens, public course price
Don’t waste your time playing anywhere else on the west side.
Fun Day @ The Hawk
1st -while filling out this review, I have to say every course is "extremely challenging" because I'm "distance challenged." The course is in great shape, and will continue to get better once the weekly rainstorms subside. The greens are awesome, freckled with Poa but putting smooth & quick. This day the course was fairly crowded, with no open holes in front, but the pace was great --no complaints! The only thing to complain about is my tired old swing & shaky putting stroke. I hit a few good shots, GiR #11 (a rarity) & easy par #7, both of which are not stress-free holes. The 3putt DbleBogie #18 was not the ending I like to script, so we'll be back soon to reconcile.
Great course
Great greens, tough pins, a lot of water, relatively long course from the back couple tees. Nice restaurant to get a bite and beer after, free coffee is much appreciated.
GreyHawk --Green & Awesome
GreyHawk has rebounded greatly over the past few years. Of course, with the April rains, the course is GREEN and in really great shape. The Greens are freckled, but running smooth & quick. Played 8:20 Hot Deals in the morning, and finished 3+hrs. Two good things about this morning: no wind (which makes Island Green #11 less intimidating), and with previous rains, carts permitted to cross & ride to ball (CPO is brutal on this course). This is such a fun course to play, I can't wait to get back & redeem from all the poor shots & wasted strokes (a few water balls & 3putts led to a high score for myself). The GolfPro Scott is amazing, between cart prepping, coffee maker, Starter duties, & Pro Shop counter --he was doing it all. The visual appeal of holes like #13 has improved --Kudos to the Superintendent!
Great course
Everything about this course exudes "private", from the great course conditions, the layout/architecture, clubhouse and practice facilities. Everything was top notch. The only reason for the $18 with cart price tag was the time of year/temperature. We had a 48 degree, sunny, but windy day, but overall nice day. Absolutely loved the layout. Extremely fair and challenging at the same time. No forced layups or blind shots. Greens are fast, undulating and fair if the greens-keeper didn't have a bad morning. LOL Will definitely go back!!
