Grey Hawk Golf Club
About
Grey Hawk Golf Club is a challenging but playable course that is a Cleveland area favorite. It brings resort-quality golf to a remote location in LaGrange that is seemingly in the middle of nowhere. The rolling landscape is the ideal terrain for links-style golf. The course demands accuracy with lightning fast greens surrounded by bunkers and be sure not to stray from the fairways or you'll almost definitely be left with an uneven lie. Unlike a typical links golf course, there are water hazards coming into play on several holes on this layout. The 11th hole features a tricky island green while the third hole has an equally challenging "island green" that is surrounded by sand. Grey Hawk Golf Club is a formidable but fair test with interesting and diverse hole designs.

Awesome Morning @ The Hawk
After a lot of rain here in Northern Ohio (for the past 4-5wks), GreyHawk is of course nice lush & green. The greens are awesome, holding incoming shots & quick smooth rolls (except with my jerky stroke). This morning, no wind, which takes the teeth outta-the-Hawk; it does still have plenty of water hazards (hard to tell whether it was fish jumpin' or my ball splashing). No roll-out in the fairways or bunny-hops onto greens, but I can't say enough good things about the course conditions. This is such a fun course to play, and GN provides very affordable rates. Hawk's Nest (restaurant) is doing fine, and patio drinks/dining is leisurely fun.
Repair your ball marks & keep the greens as awesome as I described here this morning.
five star
Gray Hawk is back & probably top 3 public courses in NE Ohio right now! Fairways & Greens are sweet!
Country club greens, public course price
Don’t waste your time playing anywhere else on the west side.
Fun Day @ The Hawk
1st -while filling out this review, I have to say every course is "extremely challenging" because I'm "distance challenged." The course is in great shape, and will continue to get better once the weekly rainstorms subside. The greens are awesome, freckled with Poa but putting smooth & quick. This day the course was fairly crowded, with no open holes in front, but the pace was great --no complaints! The only thing to complain about is my tired old swing & shaky putting stroke. I hit a few good shots, GiR #11 (a rarity) & easy par #7, both of which are not stress-free holes. The 3putt DbleBogie #18 was not the ending I like to script, so we'll be back soon to reconcile.
Great course
Great greens, tough pins, a lot of water, relatively long course from the back couple tees. Nice restaurant to get a bite and beer after, free coffee is much appreciated.
GreyHawk --Green & Awesome
GreyHawk has rebounded greatly over the past few years. Of course, with the April rains, the course is GREEN and in really great shape. The Greens are freckled, but running smooth & quick. Played 8:20 Hot Deals in the morning, and finished 3+hrs. Two good things about this morning: no wind (which makes Island Green #11 less intimidating), and with previous rains, carts permitted to cross & ride to ball (CPO is brutal on this course). This is such a fun course to play, I can't wait to get back & redeem from all the poor shots & wasted strokes (a few water balls & 3putts led to a high score for myself). The GolfPro Scott is amazing, between cart prepping, coffee maker, Starter duties, & Pro Shop counter --he was doing it all. The visual appeal of holes like #13 has improved --Kudos to the Superintendent!
Great course
Everything about this course exudes "private", from the great course conditions, the layout/architecture, clubhouse and practice facilities. Everything was top notch. The only reason for the $18 with cart price tag was the time of year/temperature. We had a 48 degree, sunny, but windy day, but overall nice day. Absolutely loved the layout. Extremely fair and challenging at the same time. No forced layups or blind shots. Greens are fast, undulating and fair if the greens-keeper didn't have a bad morning. LOL Will definitely go back!!
Great Afternoon at The Hawk
Predicted rain averted, but players did not come out on this Monday afternoon. Course in great shape, greens holding & fast. Course played a little longer because of soft conditions & not much roll-out. We started off #10 & Birdie #11 is rarity (of course I backed it up with DbleBogie #12). I actually had 3-DbleBogies, and still broke 80, so that was great. This was just a very enjoyable afternoon, as weather cleared, course in great shape --not aerating till October, and 2some played in 2.5hrs. Awesome!
Hot Labor Day @ GreyHawk
Hot Hot Hot Labor Day @ GreyHawk. Course in good shape; actually greens almost too soft, as foot prints around cups left by most every one. The course was playing a little long (at least for me) because the fairways were also rather soft; now granted, the area has had abnormal rain over last few weeks, so no blame to staff. . The greens are rolling fine, but have freckles & especially when the greens are soft, golfers should be repairing ball marks, not just their own, but 3 or 4 others too. Replace divots in fairways too. I should offer one complaint --no drinking water on course & this 95* heat also had concession stand closed.
Beautiful day, beautiful course
Challenging but fair layout.
Only downside way the traps need sand or work on drainage.
Fast greens and challenging layout
Just a great place to play....
Grey Hawk is probably my favorite course to play anywhere in Northern Ohio. Well worth the drive well worth any price that you would pay. A can't miss
Grey Hawk is a must play!
Grey Hawk is one of, if not, my favorite course in the Cleveland area. Exceptional facilities and the course is extremely fun and challenging. There are many holes that will have you thinking you’re on the tour with how they’re structured. Get out to Lagrange and experience this course.
Great Golf Course
Absolutely one of my favorite courses in NE Ohio!! The course layout is a challenging test for all skill levels. The course was in great condition- the greens had an excellent pace. The only short coming of this wonderful facility are the bunkers - no sand all dirt!!! Even with that said - great course worth the cost and drive to play.
That's the Gray I remember
Has been over 10 years(move away) since I played and the course was better than ever. New layout with all the new homes surprised me a bit but, still one of the better courses in the area. Was in tip top condition and loved the bigger clubhouse and outside area. Well definitely play again in coming weeks
Fireworks @ The Hawk
Happy July 4th from HOT & steamy GreyHawk. The passing storm clouds cleared the course ahead of my 2some, and we played at a nice leisurely pace. Fairways are lush & greens running smooth ---looks aren't everything! Of course, their version of A-men corner 7,8,9 is so tough, but Lucky Birdie #9 was encouraging. I also had a rare Birdie #11 (Island green), but rest of scoring was poor (due to old tired swing & not the course). This Holiday, the restaurant closed early, which is understandable, but food & fun events has improved just like the course itself. Play GH!
