Grey Hawk Golf Club
About
Grey Hawk Golf Club is a challenging but playable course that is a Cleveland area favorite. It brings resort-quality golf to a remote location in LaGrange that is seemingly in the middle of nowhere. The rolling landscape is the ideal terrain for links-style golf. The course demands accuracy with lightning fast greens surrounded by bunkers and be sure not to stray from the fairways or you'll almost definitely be left with an uneven lie. Unlike a typical links golf course, there are water hazards coming into play on several holes on this layout. The 11th hole features a tricky island green while the third hole has an equally challenging "island green" that is surrounded by sand. Grey Hawk Golf Club is a formidable but fair test with interesting and diverse hole designs.

nice track fun to play
First of all got a great deal thru golfnow to play. Worth a lot more. Had a lot of fun beating my brother. Only white tees open, late in the year so suppose we couldn't expect traps to ideal. That's really the only things we can complain about. Loved the course. Staff there very friendly. Will definitely be back next year.
Great Course
I loved the course. It was in great shape. I would highly recommend this course. Lots of interesting shots.
aeriated bumpy greens
nice layout.played on a very windy day that made the course even tougher than it already was.greens were bumpy from aeriation.if had known would not have played the course.would give it another shot in the summer time when I think the greens would roll nicely par threes were very challenging with length and water and sand hazards..
nice rolling fairways and spacious greens
Great value with golfnow discount. Worth the travel time. Course was in pretty good shape despite the lack of rain lately.
Great course but needs some work
This was an amazing course, very challenging. My only complaint is that the sand traps were like concrete. Other than that there were a lot of water hazards that made it fun to play. The greens were decently maintained and the facility looked beautiful.
By far the best hole on the course would be the island green. It felt like I was playing on a PGA tour style course!
pleasantly surprised
heard about bad course conditions, got a great rate and decided too go, course was in really nice shape, there were a few rough areas but nothing you would not see at any other course
Challenging, friendly staff, fun day
All was very nice with the exception of both carts running out of juice. Course changed both out quickly for us.
The course keeps you on your toes
Grey Hawk is a fine course, spread out with houses thru-out but not on top of you. There are plenty of hazards that derail your game if your not focused on your shot.It was hot and humid when I played and was disappointed that they had no water jugs. Overall enjoyed my golf and would recommend it to all.
Great golf course Great Price
Course was in great shape although the bunkers could use some sand in them, other then that the greens were excellent putting true fairways are in good shape.
Fun Course, great setting
Great course for the West side of Cleveland. Easy to get to, friendly staff and fair rates. Some burnout in spots but sand has been improved. Island holes are still great to play. Links style course unlike anything I've played in Ohio. Recommend for novice to advanced.
Excellent value
Over all course conditions were good, greens we soft but fast. Very challenging layout, just the type of course I like to play. Pace a play was a little slow, but it was a holiday weekend which always seems to attract players with a skill level below the course difficulty. A bit off the beaten path but well worth the trip!
Not as good as I expected
The course has great features and diverse play.
The condition of the tees, rough, and some areas on the fairways were not good. The condition of the cart paths and their transitions into the fairways were very rough, rutted and unappealing
The green play was very good. There were many little spots of moss growing in the green (1/2 dollar size) that didn't affect play. The most annoying thing was that the ball washers had smelly foul water. The best thing was the diversity and play.
Very good course, good price.
The layout is great, the brought the fairways back and the greens roll very nice. We'll maintained except for some bare spots I'm the rough here and there. The greens had some ballmark issues but that's more of a player issue. Come on fellas. Overall I enjoy my round there all the time. Staff is very friendly and I've never played a real sluggish round. Recommended for a good round of public golf at a good value for a very good course.
Good layout, needs a little TLC
The course seems to have a great layout and requires shot making skills. You can easily get in trouble if you are spraying the ball. It is evident that the course needs a little money as the greens are suffering and their are a few areas that need repair. It could be a really good course with a little work and a few tweaks. I will return.
Advanced golf skills required
Great layout. LOTS of hazards. You could drown in the water. Funky mold on the greens.
Unique beauty
Very different from traditional NE Ohio golf - lots of water & sand, very few trees, very few flat lies... Great lay-out! Fast greens, well kept. Only one hole was in need of attention... This course is truely one of my favorites!
challenging course
overall course conditions good for an Ohio course in August. Winds were gusting so made a challenging course even more so. Wouldn't want it any other way.
Pace of play was good for a Saturday morning. refreshment cart came by 3x. Would play again.
Nice layout, not in great shape
This was my first visit to Grey Hawk. I travel all over NE Ohio playing great golf courses every week. I enjoyed the challenging layout of the course. It has a southern feel to it. But many areas were burned out, despite the rain we have had this year. The bunkers hardly had sand, which made them extremely difficult to play out of-there are numerous traps on the course. Lastly, the back nine pace of play was really slow. We were waiting on every hole on the second nine.
The clubhouse facilities were very nice, they have a nice patio & bar area. The staff was friendly & helpful.
Given the current course conditions, I probably won't return this season, but may come back in the future when I've heard things have improved.
Challenging layout
My friend and went to the pro shop and confirmed our tee time that I made through Golf Now, no problems there. We went and practiced our putting until our scheduled tee time at 11:30 am. There was a twosome a full hole ahead of us and we sailed along the first nine. After grabbing a $3.50 hot dog and a $2.50 Pepsi we came to the tenth tee and noticed that the twosome ahead of us played through a threesome of elderly women that evidently we're let out ahead of us at the turn. The next nine holes were painfull having to wait up to 10 minutes to hit our next shot. The course should have a ranger out on the course to make sure that play is kept on pace as it took three hours to play the back nine. I gave it four stars because of the difficulty and beautiful layout of the course. The ruff was burned up pretty bad and some of the traps were hard as a rock in some spots. I would go back because of the challenge of the course, however I will tell them about my previous experience. By the the way I had a beer in the beautiful clubhouse after my round and that cost $2.50, same as the Pepsi?
nothing great
played on a Wednesday. guy at desk said no ranger scheduled.we could go out whenever.everyone started to bunch up after making the turn.fairways below average.no sand or very little in bunkers, like hitting off contrete.didn't see anyone working on course. has gone way downhill since I played it for first time 3 years ago.really not worth playing at their regular prices, but ok at the 25bucks price I got off golf now.used to be a pleasure to play, not anymore.
