The Bridges Golf Club
About
The Fred Couples Signature course is the centerpiece of the Bridges at Preston Crossing. The golf course sprawls across rolling hills that most don't associate with north Texas. Mature trees dot the lush meadows, sliced with ribbons of tall native grasses. The parkland layout has a fair amount of challenges and it is especially tough on a windy day. There are subtle but tricky contours thanks to the undulating landscape and several strategically placed bunkers lurk throughout. Water is not too much of a threat on this golf course, except for the memorable finishing hole. This beastly par 5 lays measures 645 yards and wraps around a massive water hazard. The Bridges is a local favorite because not only is it a challenging round, it is also an affordable one.

Great Day for Golf
I love this course. If it were closer to home I'd play it more often. Started at 8:50am with temps in the mid-seventies. How great is that for the end of July? If I had a complaint it would just be that when we bought four beers from the cart girl she said she wasn't allowed to give us any ice. It would be nice if she had ice to give out when people are buying multiple drinks. No fault of her own. It seemed like is was a decision from above her. Other than that everything was great!
Inept Managementj
Josh Haynes (GM) should be embarrassed. He and his staff have an incredible piece of land and a beautiful course that they have operationally undermined through poor management and (what I have to characterize as) a general indifference to customer satisfaction.
A Sunday morning in July (the 28th), and there was not a single shift leader on site. At 7:30 AM, no coffee prepared, nor cook available for breakfast burritos. There was no cart girl available until after 12 PM, (due to the previous night’s attendant not charging the beverage cart), and good luck ordering food for the turn; no online menu nor accessible way to be in touch with the grill ahead of time - instead, a 20+ minute wait and a dissatisfied cadence of golfers.
And the cherry on top: Two woefully inadequate sets of rental golf clubs (esp for the price); one set missing 5 clubs (no driver nor 5 iron) and the other with a putter without a grip and a broken 3 wood.
Honestly, I don’t care that the pro shop lost their sponsorship a few weeks earlier. I don’t care that there is a new-ish administration. I don’t care that Josh, or one of his cohort, was on vacation. These are not problems that the customer should shoulder. These (and the above) are hallmarks of derelict leadership and woeful operational execution.
One star review, with 5 stars readily available if The Bridges decide to refocus on the customer experience and give their management some agency to fix obvious and glaring issues with their operation.
(BTW - happy to help you guys fix glaringly obvious issues. Josh has my number)
Great course ! I have been playing out here off and on for 20 years.
Great layout, great greens, fairways and rough all great condition. You can score if you can keep her in the fairway.
Thank you for the excellent review! We're glad you enjoy the course's condition and its challenges. We hope to host you for another round soon!
Worth the drive!
As always, the course is a pleasure to play. They had punched some fairways but on the whole conditions were great. Greens had been punched earlier the previous week but had already begun healing well.
I’ll always keep The Bridges at the top of my preferred places to play. Great value for the money/experience/conditions.
Thanks so much for the great review, jdukemsci. We look forward to welcoming you back to our course soon. Thanks for choosing The Bridges Golf Club.
Greens were in great shape
Greens were great but fairways and tee boxes were just ok. Pricey on weekends/holidays but golfnow deals during the week provide the opportunity for reasonable rates to experience a very nice course. Worth the drive from Allen to Gunter.
Thank you so much for the great review. We are glad you had an incredible time, and we hope to see you again soon! Thanks for choosing The Bridges Golf Club.
Great layout not in the best condition
I absolutely loved this course, but the greens were sandy, and there were some cracks in the fairways. That's probably why there weren't many playing. Other than some of the course conditions, I loved the layout and topography. Playing from the blue tees, some holes were fun and easy while others were very challenging. Overall an enjoyable round of golf. I'd love to play here again.

Fun but challenging
One of my golf buddies came to visit and we decided to play this track. Tee boxes and fairways were good. Green we're solid and quick. Looking forward to playing it again.

Great Course and Staff.
Course was in good shape, greens were good and the crew has done a great job for having it in this shape.

Great, but windy!
Very nice staff and amenities! Everyone had a smile and a friendly word.
Course was in very good shape.
The course is windy, but that is part of the charm.

Pace of play was super slow for a Monday
Pace of play for a Monday was super slow as our group had to literally wait several minutes to hit each shot. There was not a Marshall on the course at all until we were almost finished. He pulled up on #16 and asked if we were having to wait as a group 4 or 5 groups behind us called the clubhouse. I politely pointed out a group on the tee box, in the fairway, and on the green in front of us as we were just walking off the green. So now that was four groups stacked up on one hole. I am not sure if it’s Booking tee times to close together or if they are letting groups of 5 play as we saw several playing.
The course was in fairly good condition as they are starting to mow some of the higher areas now that they are drying out. There are several greens where the weeks are starting to take ove the fringe though.
Also they do not move the pins everyday because you can see the wear and tear around the cups and grass growing in them.
Also paying $6 for a plain hotdog is ridiculous on a golf course.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, and we apologize for the slow pace of play and the condition concerns you've raised. We appreciate your feedback and will work on improving both the pace of play and our maintenance routines. Thank you for visiting The Bridges Golf Club.
Great Golf!
The Bridges is one of my favorite courses to play in the DFW Metroplex Area. Yes it can be a little far distance wise but is well worth it. The course staff is very friendly and very accommodating, driving range is in very good condition. Some of the tee boxes do have some small minor dirt patches but in Texas during the summer you can expect that with any golf course. I’ve played this course from when I was a beginner to now being around a 15-16 handicap and it is still just as fun and challenging to play. Greens are pure and fast, the views around the golf course are very serene and pretty. With 60-70 dollar weekend tee times and 40-50 dollar weekday tee times this course is hard to beat!
Thank you for the thoughtful review and for highlighting what makes The Bridges special to you. We appreciate your continued support and understanding regarding the tee boxes, and we're thrilled to hear about your positive experiences with us. We hope you join us for another round soon. Thank you for choosing The Bridges Golf Club.
Thank you for your kind words and for bringing the ice issue to our attention. We're looking into improving this aspect for a better experience in the future. We hope to host you for another round in the future! Thank you for choosing The Bridges Golf Club.
