The Bridges Golf Club

I’ve lived in the N. Dallas area for about 10 years and I’ve seen this course in excellent and not excellent (awful) condition. I had high expectations this morning, but was disappointed once my round started.

My tee time was purposefully early so I could get a quick round in before my day started. When I teed off, I quickly noted that tees, fairways and greens hadn’t been mowed. In fact, the cups appeared to be the previous days cups, but that isn’t a big deal. Greens looked good, but unfortunately had been punched recently and were very sandy as a result. That, combined with the morning dew made them incredibly slow.

The fairways were most disappointing. The last time I played the course was in the spring following the big freeze that overtook Texas. At that time there were huge swaths of fairway that were completely devoid of grass. I assumed in 2+ years that they’d have grown back in, but they still were very patchy (albeit smaller patches than before).

I suppose the summary on the course is that it could be a great little course, but it’s obviously undercapitalized. The maintenance is suspect, and the carts are old. Such a shame.

What truly upset me about the round was that I had purposefully chosen that early tee time, but when I reached the 15th hole, a group of 4 scramblers was in front of me. They let me play thru, but informed me that there was a shotgun tournament that had just started. The next hole I found another group that offered to let me play thru. At this point I could see that there were more groups in front of them, so I simply agreed to play in with that group. There were great, but the nature of a scramble is slow, and they remaining four holes took longer than the previous fourteen.

I guess I’m just disappointed that the staff didn’t inform me of the tournament when I checked in. It certainly put a damper on my round. For that matter, why even sell tee times before a shotgun tournament??? I decided to stop in the pro shop and ask why I wasn’t informed after my round and the clerk behind the counter was very standoffish about it, telling me that I played too fast. Really??? I’m not sure I’ll be back.

PLayed a month ago and greens were perfect and fairways/tees seemed to be coming in. Today the greens were aerated and sparse and the grass has seemed to stop growing. We've had rain and ideal soil temps so not sure what the issue is. Pace was OK and it was windy as usual out here in Gunter. Layout is still good except for #18. Odd hole.

They need to figure out the bermudagrass situation. I won't pay $80 to play here until they have better turf conditions.

Greens are great for shapes and contours.. Some blind shots and course experience is always helpful. Just a good day

Grass was still a bit dormant but you can this course is a fun place to play

This was an exciting course to play. The greens and fairways were in great condition. The pro shop staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. When I'm in North Texas again, I would to play this course!

This is a fun golf course. We played the tips at 7600 yds and it’s all you want from back there. The course is undergoing some changes as more of the North Dallas people have discovered it. They are trying to transition into a more buttoned-up place. If you are coming to The Bridges it will be strictly about the golf course and not the staff. Greens are always in good shape. I’ve played this course probably 100 times and I always enjoy it.

I brought my twin boys along as this was their first time at the course and only their second time playing with me. They had a blast. The greens were their typical fast and smooth roles. The fairways were fantastic and some of the tee boxes could use a little more loving. The bunkers were in good condition and it was a perfect day to play. Additionally, the price point was great along with plenty of drinks and snacks for the kids. This is my favorite course due to its challenging conditions as well as the layout with a few risk reward holes on the front and back nines.

The Greens are in excellent shape. The fairways on several holes you're hitting of the dirt and a few of them we're cart only, trying to get grass to grow. They held a qualifier round last week and expected better fairways, and they have another qualifier coming up May 3rd. Tee boxes we're OK, dry weather might need a hammer for the tee. Overall a good course but I would not call it excellent and would not pay the prices their asking today, I got a discount.

Very nice course. Had my fastest round 2 hrs 15 mins. Other players were very friendly and let me pass through because I was by myself ! Check in process was super quick. Carts could get an upgrade but sometimes simpler carts without gps are better when you go into fields searching for the balls :D

The course was in good shape. Greens rolled great. The bartender and food inside was the worst part of the day.

The last hole is an absolute doozy. 7i, 3h, 3h. It’s hard to walk away from that one riding the high from the previous 17 holes.

Made the trek out to Gunter to play the Bridges for the first time in about 6 months. Previous reviews are pretty accurate. Tees and greens in good shape. Fairway Bermuda grass is sparse and the 'rough' is nearly non existent. As usual, we had a very windy day and the course played very firm and very fast. Hopefully the grasses come in with warmer weather and some rain. Pace was pretty good for a friday afternoon (3:50). Very happy with condition of the greens.

Condition for past 5 months has been sparse, grass now is finally starting to grow back! Another month and it should be much better

Played here for a few years now and never seen it in a worse condition. No grass on the tee boxes or fairways and the course had been punched fairly recently, of course no mention of that anywhere. This is usually a great course and a great layout. Hopefully they turn it around

Course seems to get worse every time I play there. Greens and tee boxes are good overall, but the fairways and areas around the fairways and greens are poor in many areas. There is way too much cart traffic on the fairways so the grass is very thin, and you are hitting off the dirt more often than not. It’s sad to see because The Bridges has been my go to course for a few years now.
