Hidden Valley Lake Golf Course

Beautiful course with upgrades being made. Friendliest course Marshall you could ask for. The only downside is when residents who live on the course, end up cutting you off in the middle of your round or hanging around on the course. Not a huge deal but can interrupt the flow of your round.

I mentioned in my previous review that hole 14 has the spectacular view. I was mistaken. The view from 14 is good but 15 is the winner hands down.

Another spectacular day of golf. The reason for the low rating on amenities is that the clubhouse is being constructed. When finished I’m sure the amenities will be great.

This was one of the most fun days of golf I’ve had. It started with a Marshall in the parking lot who drove me across the street to the clubhouse then lead me to the first tee and put me ahead of some tournament players because I was a single. The clubhouse staff were very friendly.

The course is not country club manicured and you don’t want to speed across the fairway unless you have a lot of cushioning on your bottom, but the course is just fun, yet quite challenging.

On the back nine is where the gun really begins as you drive up and up, ending with the most jaw-dropping and spectacular view on hole 14 overlooking the valley with the fairway and green way down below. My phone camera could not do Justice to the beauty of this hole. Be prepared with extra balls for this one.

I love this course and hope that I can come back to play it again before I leave the area. It took 45 minutes to drive to it, part of the drive on a very winding road yet scenic lake view from Nice CA where I am staying, but it was every bit worth of the trip. The new clubhouse looks absolutely great and will be fantastic when it is completed.

This course has some flat holes and several holes with elevation changes and holes that have their own unique challenges.

We love playing our local HVL course as it is equal parts fun a challenging. Greens are immaculately kept and tee boxes are well-kept also. Varying terrain makes for beautiful views around every hole. Lots of local deer roam the peaceful fairways at dawn and dusk adding to the ambient feel of the course.

Staff is friendly and the community of players makes playing here very enjoyable.

Only downside is that it’s a bit soggy in spots during a morning round making for some muddy shots.

Pricey for the quality. Can tell you how many times you are In The fairway and the course is damaged. Greens are inconsistent. They need to fix the green side bunker on 12 it’s been screwd up for 3 years. If your paying 70 bucks on a weekend no. Golfnow rates are good.

Love the course, but with the new constructions and the difficulty getting staff the course wasn't in the condition we were used to. They are temporarily without the normal facilities. By November, this will be the greatest course in the North Bay area.

So we drove about 1 hour and 30 mins to get to the place. Which was not bad because we knew obviously how far it was from us. But I don’t think I’ll return to it unless the conditions of it get better. It was wet in many places, also lack of maintenance. The back 9 were actually pretty nice. But overall I wouldn’t drive that far again to play at hidden valley. It was a nice experience just not worth the drive.

The Director had great hospitality and treated newcomers with open arms. Very helpful. Played with another twosome, Locals John and Patrick, who were really fun to play with. Course is lush and green for being in dry area if NorCal. Can’t wait to play again on our next visit to area. Sure the new clubhouse will be done by then as a bonus.

They are in construction new club house which they did not informed. I spend 7-10 minutes to find pro shop because of poor sign. Parked car on dusty,dirt road and cross street and walk through construction area. I would not recommend untill finished construction. I rated 5 stars cause I see almost nobody playing.

Credit where credit is due, the greens at HVL are fantastic, some of the most consistent and smooth I've played in a long time. I was making putts from everywhere. They aren't knock your socks off fast but they roll remarkably true.

Unfortunately the greens could only take this course so far... The fairways/rough was dry, and the layout is an odd mix of interesting holes (4,9, 12,13,14,16), bizzare holes (15) and basic straight away fairways with bunkers by the green (the rest). I did like the place but for the hour I had to drive to get there it just wasn't quiite there for me.

They are building a new clubhouse which looks like it will be pretty neat when done. If the rest of the course were as well kept as the greens, (ie country club level) I'd go back quickly, but otherwise it's just not worth the drive from the Bay Area

Always in good condition, very challenging, wildlife entertaining, georgios clubhouse and restaurant almost completed. Definitely one of the best courses I've ever played.
