Great course overall
Enjoyable course that tests you as a novice. Two issues: pace of play and the condition of the greens. Divots, dead grass and bike marks on greens make them difficult to play. Pace of play was slow due to players taking multiple tee shots which is poor behaviour.
I POO’D MY PANTS
The availability of amenities on this course is ATROCIOUS and the staff and managers need to be ASHAMED.
I’ll set the scene, I was tee’ing off on the 7th when suddenly I felt a sudden rush in my poor little stomach. Unfortunately I did not have a cart WHICH WOULDNT HAVE HELPED ANYWAY BECAUSE OF THE INACCESSIBILITY OF SOME PARTS OF THE COURSE, and could not make it back to the clubhouse.
THE FACILITIES MUST BE APPROVED, I could not make it to the nearest bush and RUINED my brand new grey CALLAWAY super pro breathable pants and had to finish the round with POO IN MY PANTS. Would not recommend for anyone I WOULD BOT RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE
Great value course
Worth a visit. Midweek play would be a good idea as weekends are usually busy
Pace of Play Overcrowded
We played a round this Saturday, and the pace of play was so bad - we had a queue of three groups at each hole, which made everyone impatient when it was their turn. This caused a lot of near-misses and close incidents of balls nearly hitting players.
Turns out that the weekend are not ideal days to play here unless they get a course marshal or find a way to somehow manage a larger crowd.
Bardwell Valley hidden gem
The course has always been a tight challenging course. Not a long course but one that makes you think. I have been playing here for 40 years. The course is going through some work and whilst it presented an issue on a few holes they are not charging a great deal of money for a round so why complain. Pace of play was slowish but i didnt have to wait for long and was more an issue of the skill of the players in front as opposed to anything to do with the course. I really like this place.
Good little course
I did enjoy the course for what it is, a short and fairly challenging course for amateur golfers. Some fairways do have sand on the sides and other areas which I believe is due to the rain recently, but overall it is worth giving a go and is good value for what you get.
interesting course with great potential
Have been here a couple of times, always enjoyed it. The design and layout are interesting and some holes are especially challenging. Not very wide fairway and quite hilly, up and down most of the holes. Most greens are in great condition yet some chipping area and part of fairway can use some more fine grass. Yet in generally a nice course and will be excellent if more maintenance efforts exerted.
Why buy rocks for the bunkers?
I do love this little course despite some hard fairways. It’s a fun little lay out.
I just don’t understand why they would buy sand for their bunkers that includes large grey rocks. You spend half your time trying to clear a path for your ball on the green.
The sand on the ground repairing the fairway is less rocky. It really impacts your game.
Large groups poor etiquette very slow
A lot of booked players would not have been able to play a full round or finish the round that they paid for yesterday.
A group of 11 with 6 carts who were sharing clubs between 2 or 3 and who couldn’t play very well. Had no respect for the course. Or those waiting behind. Took an hour to play 3 holes.
Was a shame cause Bardwell is normally better than that. I don’t mind varied player skill , I’m not the best but there should be some basic instruction given by the pro shop on club requirements, pace of play and letting groups through. This didn’t occur.
