Cove Cay Golf Club
About
Cove Cay Golf Club is located along the shores of Tampa Bay, offering scenic views and abundant wildlife. Water is a prominent feature on the golf course, coming into play on 12 holes. The course is tight with narrow, tree-lined fairways and several tricky dogleg holes. In addition to all of the water hazards, there are also deep bunkers lining the greensides. At 6,000 yards, it is not a long course by any means but what it lacks in length it makes up for in shot-making challenges. Thanks to its length though, it can usually be played in under four hours. The layout features a diverse set of hazards that will require the use of every club in your bag. Cove Cay Golf Club's signature hole is the par-5 17th. This dramatic hole runs alongside the bay, making accuracy a necessity in order to reach the small peninsula green.

Cove Cay on Tampa Bay Photo submitted by webbknight on 09/21/2012
FUN BUT A BIT PRICEY
Cove Cay is a relatively short to medium length tight little course. It has a lot of things going for it. That includes a number of unique holes and a few holes that are right along OldTampa Bay. The course itself is in probably better shape than I’ve ever seen it and that includes the greens. My only problem as the cost to play is a little pricey.
Hidden gem.
I think it's one of the best courses around to play and the rain has definitely help keep the course plush & green. No dried out hard-pan.
Course was in great shape considering a hurricane came through. 48hours prior. The guy checking in the clubhouse may have been the most unfriendly person, but the starter was very friendly.
Golf
First time playing this course found it in great condition Greens very true rough was a little rough fairways are in good shape t boxes were surprisingly good. Quite the challenge on the front nine back nine has gorgeous views. Worth the trip.
Tight course with alot of water, not a long track but placement is key. Greens were ok, fairways were ok tee boxes were ok. Dining after was excellent great views of the 18th green and tampa bay and food was excellent
Nice course
Course had good fairways and excellent greens. Layout was fairly straight forward except lots of elevated greens, difficult to layup. Better to play early there as unlike many other courses in the region, not many trees to shade you. Bring plenty of sunscreen.
A SURPRISE
Last time I played the course was late winter & conditions less that perfect. Last week I found that most of the fairways had filled in and most of the time the ball sits up nicely on the grass. I wouldn't call the greens terrible. I would call them just passable, certainly not pristine.
That being said, if you have not played the course you must, it's very unique!
review
Cove Cay is a beautiful course, right on Tampa Bay, but playing at 7:30 in the morning has it's disadvantages....everything is wet....and of course the humidity was terrible......the course itself is kept really nice, but you have to hit straight shots and there is plenty of water and sand hazards......looking forward to returning again someday soon.....
Good Round
2-some, Sat AM, 3.5 hr round. Tees, fairways, greens, bunkers in good shape, great views on back 9. Enjoyed it & will return.
Greens need a little work
Great layout. Challenged every club in the bag. Tee boxes and fairways were in great condition, but a few of the greens had bare spots and most needed a shave. Too shaggy and very slow. I don’t play a lot of golf in FL in July, so maybe that’s normal because of the heat. But I left more than a few putts 3 feet short.
WAS SURPRISED
Last time I played the course, late winter, I found conditions to be somewhat wanting. So playing last week was a nice surprise. For the most part the fairways are in great conditions with the greens falling just a little short. Most of the past rounds at Cove Cay showed me great greens. It may have been due to the heavy rains the night before. I like the course and am playing it again next Tuesday.
Poor Amenities
Couldn’t get any drinks until the round was over. Used water coolers on the course but wish we would have brought our own drinks and water bottles.
Fun course
Course was fun; staff was friendly and pace of play was great, I played at my own pace without being hurried and never caught the group in front.
review
What a beautiful course, right off of Tampa Bay.......first time there and will make it a point to play there again......greens perfect....fairways perfect....rough not too high....not too many water hazards but a lot of sand traps.......the course is well taken care of.......and only about 25 miles from Port Richey.....
Great course, great views and a good round of golf while on vacation.
Easy to find, easy to play very friendly staff and helpful too.
