Clearwater Country Club
About
Located just minutes from the beach, the conveniently situated Clearwater Country Club sprawls across a coastal landscape of Spanish moss-draped trees and towering, mature oaks. Stevenson Creek meanders through the golf course, coming into play on six holes. Built in 1920, the layout has a traditional design that is challenging but fair. The course is tight but it plays long, especially on the par 5s. The rolling fairways are well manicured and the greens play at medium speed and are consistently well maintained. Clearwater C.C. actually has a reputation amongst locals for its superb conditions. It is also popular with visitors, snowbirds specifically, since the club offers the area's only seasonal and short-season membership with exclusive privileges. It is also one of the few clubs in the area that allows walking.

Steve B
Great course. We enjoyed it very much. Greens in great shape.
Very challenging especially with wind conditions
Course was in good shape. Greens were especially challenging. But, greens were true.
Rain would help
Drought is hurting everywhere. That being said, course was in pretty decent shape considering. The 5 some 4 groups ahead that should have broken into a 3 and 2 some to speed play up made 18 holes last 5.5 hours. We were three groups deep on the 5th tee box. Marshall should have broken the 5 some up or made them leave. Ordered a hot dog and 3 cold beverages at the turn and that took 10 minutes for a nuked hotdog! Order ahead. Otherwise, would play again.
Nice little course
This is great little unique course. I enjoyed the layout. There’s just enough challenge enough easy to make it interesting. I found the back to be harder than the front, but hole nine is great.
Great course but can be slow
This was my first time playing this course and it was a fun one. My biggest complaint was that the pace was so slow I saw people, including myself leave before finishing. There were a few foursomes that must have been playing for new homes because they were so slow in the greens that each putt must have been worth a grand. Other than that, it was a really fun day and the weather was perfect.
Long round
It was a 5 1/2 round
Made for a long inconsistent day
Overpriced for what it is
Paid $130 for a weekday 11am tee time and a set of rental clubs. The rental clubs were in horrid condition and were all mismatched. I had 2 putters? The pace of play was extremely slow to where I left after 15 holes. I got a hot dog at the turn that cost $7.50!? For a hotdog, that’s crazy. The whole place felt like a money grab.
Extremely Slow Play
I would like to start out by saying that I really enjoy playing Clearwater CC. It is a moderately challenging course, the greens are well kept, and it is a relative bargain compared to other courses in the area. I have played this course a dozen times or so, and have had good experiences until my last round on Friday, March 20.
I selected the 12:37 PM tee time, which was a Hot Deal on Golf Now. I did not know that a men's member league was teeing off right before us. Although we teed off about 15 minutes later than our tee time, that was not the issue. The league did not care about pace of play. They had several groups of more than foursomes playing together. The groups liked to think they were long hitters and waited for the groups ahead of them to clear the green before they teed off. Bottom line, the front 9 took more than 3 hours to complete. We assumed it was only a nine hole league and the back 9 would be better. We were mistaken. We only lasted 3 hole on the back nine before we had enough and abandoned the rest of the round. My advice: Avoid Friday afternoon rounds between 12 and 2 PM on this course.
Tight course
The course was in great shape but the back nine holes were tight and very close to one another. That caused some lengthy delays on some holes.
Course stacked to the hilt.
I’ve played this course numerous times always had a great round.
This was a huge waste of time. Showed up at tee time ready to play. We were next on the tee until the starter bumped us for”members”. Four the next 3 and a half hours we watched the “members” to wait until the entire hole to be clear too tee off. Only too find a ball at 200 yards or way out of bounds. Ten minutes too putt every time. Five plus Members hogging the course.
Stay far away until they fix this issue.
We pulled off at When there were 15 people on one hole. When has that ever been acceptable!!!
Nice course but ….
This is an easy choice for me to choose in my local area. First nine has had a face lift in the past year. Just wish the course would reset the satellite gps to be accurate in the course layout and yardages .And for the green fee charged this issue should have been updated months ago. Other than that the fairways are close to each other and usually have foul plays in the fairway on a busy day. But it’s a pretty course and has some challenging holes.
Challenging greens
The course conditions were really great. The greens were in amazing condition considering the lack of rain. The greens are very challenging. I get the business model, but they really need to space out the tee times a bit more. There was a wait for carts to be returned, so it was a rush from the moment you got a cart to get to the first tee. Literally 2 minutes to load up and go. Every tee there was a wait and the group behind us kept hitting in to us. No golfers fault there, tee times were that close together.
Slow pace, very tight lanes, crowded
Lots of reviews on pace of play and they are correct. It’s stacked up. They have a starting supervisor but they need to really hit Hole-1 with the guidelines…”no breakfast balls”…”no mulligans”…”no reshoots”….hit, play your ball, or drop near a partner. We watched two groups of four play scramble with each other and really slowed down play. Then you had “speed singles” racing through the course asking to play through.
Had to wait because they were out of carts so our 215 turned into 235 and surprise, log jam.
