Clearwater Country Club
About
Located just minutes from the beach, the conveniently situated Clearwater Country Club sprawls across a coastal landscape of Spanish moss-draped trees and towering, mature oaks. Stevenson Creek meanders through the golf course, coming into play on six holes. Built in 1920, the layout has a traditional design that is challenging but fair. The course is tight but it plays long, especially on the par 5s. The rolling fairways are well manicured and the greens play at medium speed and are consistently well maintained. Clearwater C.C. actually has a reputation amongst locals for its superb conditions. It is also popular with visitors, snowbirds specifically, since the club offers the area's only seasonal and short-season membership with exclusive privileges. It is also one of the few clubs in the area that allows walking.

Awesome Renovation
Course was in great shape - tee boxes, greens, and fairways were wonderful. The only issue is the slow play but it is the winter weekend. Could use Rangers to speed it along.
Tight Fairways but Great Conditions
Played here for the first time and the course was in great condition minus the rough, which winter time in Florida is not very good for. Never had any pace of play issues the whole round.
My only gripe, when I walked up I had 15 minutes before my tee time. I was going to warm up with a few swings on the range close to hole 1, but the starter caught me and said “I have you with the two some on the first tee box right now check in and get up there quick I have 3 foursomes behind you”. Of course I then rushed and had to hit my first tee shot not more than 5 minutes after walking up to the Pro Shop. I should have said, “no I’d like to go at my tee time” but first time here I didn’t want to argue.
Great course, small greens, one front desk staff member sucks.
Great experience, nice course. Fast greens. Front desk staff member is the worst person I’ve ever spoken to at a golf course/country club.
Greens in great shape.
Played here a couple of years ago. Course seemed nicer than I remembered. Have to get used to chipping off tight lies.
Great Day
Teed off at 7:30 AM. Everything great with nice layout & good conditions. Pace of play was good as single between 2 foursomes. Hit some extra approach shots, chips, & putts. Beautiful weather. I recommend course as believe great value. Was worried about some previous reviews but play here several time a year & as usual not disappointed.
Bad business!
When the course is being worked on customers should be informed. Won't be back! Like a construction site in a swamp.
Average
The greens are in really good condition, as the majority of bunkers. The fairways are majority terrible - weeds and dirt tracts. Tee boxes need a bunch of TLC
Some of the best greens in the area. Fairways have some bare patches, but overall a great course.
Fraud - Will never return
I have played this course dozens of times, even met John Daly here a couple of times… always was solid and reasonably priced with a decent practice facility.
Sadly, I will never return to this course. I paid $80 to play 14 holes… 4 had grounds under repair entirely. All of this would have been fine if they told me when I called to make the reservation. Or when I showed up to the course and when I played. Or by the starter… NOT ONE EMPLOYEE told us that half of the front 9 was under construction with holes in the fairways… AND we paid more than I have ever paid playing here… what sucks is that the greens and fairways were in good conditions and I torched the 9 we played… broke par. But it felt pointless after we made the turn.
Be transparent with your customers and don’t charge premium rates for your terrible situation. You’ll never get a dollar from me and my groups again.
Awful
Avoid at all costs. Active construction for a long time.
Don’t play on Friday afternoon
Evidently the course management play betting games Friday afternoons with multiple players. We were behind a six some and they were all over the course, several times hitting wayward drives two holes away from the hole they were playing. Had several twosomes behind them and slowed everyone down. We were told someone complained and the response was “go play somewhere else”. We will. Course isn’t good enough to put up with that crap.
Awful
Staff did not notify anyone in my group about the back 9 being closed for the day. That on top of it being cart path only and no warning, while still charging over 70 dollars is why my group won’t be coming back here.
Not at the full price
I play here often. It is usually terrific.greens are very nice conditions and challenging. HOWEVER, the back nine is currently under work/repair ,some from the city is my understanding...bridges being redone, pipes being put underground... all understandable.
the GRIPE is charging full price for back 9 that has 4 full holes and 5 makeshift holes including two 'temporary' greens which are just a hole in the fairway. Need reduced fees
Not right now...
Course is in repair mode currently.
#9 is always lousy design but ...
Back 9 construction on #12, #16, #18
That's 3 holes of the18. It really detracts from
the course's usual high rating.
So,,not right now
Play the crappy nine twice
Spend 50 bucks to play the front nine twice and wait on every hole in the blistering heat. No thanks...
