Berkshire Valley Golf Course

Great course, bad upkeeping. Had a terrible experience with the pro shop. Took 3 hours to get through 9 holes so we returned to the pro shop as we were promised a full refund. Came back and the young worker at the desk said he would contact golfnow for the refund. No refund was made so I contacted Berkshire again the next week to check on the progress. Was once again told that golfnow takes several weeks. No refund was made. Contacted golfnow and they stated no one had contacted them. Scammed. Unfortunate because this used to be a professional shop.

There was a storm the day before, but the overall condition was good.

But the 4th hole, fairway landing zone was submerged

Most of the greenside bunkers were damaged

Pace of play on a Tuesday afternoon was 5 1/2 hours , nobody on the staff seemed care at all. I think that’s because it’s a county course and nobody is motivated to make your experience meaningful. The ground crew needs to repair the divots on the fairway it’s getting out of control. The course has such potential but is run poorly.

Course was in great shape as usual. Starter was great, very good pace of play as well. Horrible experience with one of the groundskeepers. Hit a drive on the 15th hole. Crew was out working. So I pulled to the left of the fairway as they were working on the right side, figuring I would hit my 2nd shot & move out their way. But this guy circled back & blew grass clippings in my directions. Covered side of the cart & parts of me. Needless to say words were exchanged & his response was most people know to move out the way. Was wondering if I was of a different hue or age even if he would of been so dismissive of my complaint. He could of easily communicated to me that he would be blowing the clippings in my direction & I would of moved. Or he could of just waiting for me to hit, as there was a 2 hole distance between me & the next group.

The course is beautiful and one of the best maintained. The greens were meticulous. However, the pin placements were near impossible. I am a 12 handicap, I three putt 6 times, 3 of those times were from under 5 foot where the ball rolled 10 foot past the hole. It was a running joke in our group. One hole the ball rolled upto the hole stopped and rolled back. That should never happen. This will prevent me from coming back.
