Berkshire Valley has a scenic location in the Highlands region of northern New Jersey. It is known as one of best public golf courses in the area. The course is perched atop the ridge of Green Pond Mountain, providing a dramatic topography for a challenging round of golf. The front of the golf course was carefully carved from a hillside, featuring narrow fairways that place a premium on accuracy. The first five holes are particularly scenic as well as formidable. There are some open holes that play along the cliffs, subjecting them to the prevailing winds, one of these is the intimidating par-5 third. The Berkshire Valley golf course finishes with its signature hole. This hole can be deceiving since it has a generous fairway, but the second shot is uphill to a tough green.

Fun course

Course was in good shape. Staff was friendly both inside and at the starter booth. Weekday in April they didnt' have a cart going around nor the halfway house open, but to be expected somewhat early in the season. Enjoyed the round and pace of play was 4hrs15mins.

berkshire - good course, slow play

expensive for county course that plays so slow. played on tuesday and just a little better than weekends. last time i played on weekend and it was really slow - ranger said nothing they could do to move play along "because it was weekend". saw same on a tuesday with slow play created by foursome, big gaps (2+ holes)
