Almost Perfect, then we had to putt..
You could not read or putt these greens on Friday.Slick and unreadable, other then that it was a perfect day.
Course was in great shape.
ALWAYS A GOOD DAY AT HIGH BRIDGE
course was in really good shape especially for April in the northeast. greens were rolling fast and pure. reasonable restaurant with plenty of selection. my only hope is someday they can figure out how to go back to a par 5 on #17. i get why the locals love their course.
Trying to be objective
First time playing course. Late in the year, 56 degrees, Thanksgiving week. Staff was awesome. Pace of play was horrible and no rangers moving people along. 5.5 hours anytime of year leaves something to be desired. Course was in good condition., greens in good shape. I was worried about a review I saw earlier that stated wear a hard hat. That could be very factual though we didn’t incur it. This course is crammed into a small foot print. Now, to be fair, if we lived closer we’d give it another chance for sure. But; since we meet north NJ folks with upper bucks PA guys, there are other courses we prefer over this one. When driving an hour, pace of play is paramount.
farmland links course
nice well kept course just a few miles off I78 in west Jersey. Rolling terrain, beautiful views. Nice grass quality. Not overplayed so there are no worn down areas near the greens. Interesting hole designs with some elevation changes; not a course to walk unless you are under 25.
But one caveat: we played on a weekday with iffy weather and the course was empty. But it is a links layout with fairways tightly packed with small fescued mounds separating them. Also many times when you went to the next hole you had to backtrack to the tee. They did not have a lot of land to work with here; i could see this course being a hard hat area on a crowded summer Sunday afternoon.
Unreal Value
My brothers and I played Thursday morning with our Dad and from the moment we got there the staff was really friendly and accommodating. They had recently aerated the greens, so they gave a substantial discount on the greens fee. But as far as playing on aerated greens it was hardly noticeable besides being a bit slower with the sand. The course was in great shape and I can't wait to get back out and loop it again at High Bridge Hills.
Slow play!
Do not play this course finally had to quit after 5 hours. Complained twice but ranger and clubhouse did absolutely nothing. First and last time playing......... stay away
Beautiful layout at decent price
Wide fairways, big fast greens, lots of fescue but lots of variety. A challenging layout for golfers of any level with several different teeing grounds that allow for a variety of strategies off the tee. Bring your A-game on and around the greens but if you leave it in the right spot, plenty of putts are makes!
Good Conditions and Very Good Pace of Play
Course was in very good condition, as were the greens. Their speed was also very good.
Great links style golf course
I really enjoyed my round at high bridge hills. I am a fan of link style golf courses and this one did not disappoint. Course was in great shape and had a great layout. Would recommend this course to anyone who hasn't played it or if you like links style courses. The only negative is all the divot marks on the greens but that's on golfers who are to lazy to fix there ball marks. I would definitely play this course again if I am up that way.
Nice course
The course has a nice layout some blind shots what bothered me the most was the lack of respect by my fellow golfers. Sand traps were not rake horrible and it seems like no one likes to fix ball marks on the greens.I've played here numerous times and yesterday those concerns were bad.
High Bridge Hills
I play this course several times a year and it doesn't disappoint. The conditions for early May were better than I remember with tee to green in very good shape. The tee boxes were getting a little chewed up for this early in the season so the Super needs keep an eye on the teeing grounds. Bunkers were in good shape save the one with casual water that I found. My 4-some played in under 5 hours, which is more a reflection on the skill level of my playing companions than the course. Having said that, this has never been a course where you could spray it around. The Fescue is in full growth mode; I feel this is the course's main defense. The greens were running smooth and true. Overall a good experience. I won't pay list price here but if I can get a good deal on GolfNow, I pull the trigger.
A Challenge
Some difficult holes here. #2, #5, #9 and #18 are real bears, with mostly metal woods into the greens. And then there's #8, long par 3 with no bailout. Still needs a ranger
Needs a ranger
Course was in great condition but unfortunately the pace of play was really slow. There were a few groups that were Really Slow and it took a call to the clubhouse to get someone out to move the slow pokes along.
Otherwise it was a fantastic del on GolfNow
Course is in great shape and weather could not be better
The course was in great shape and completely healed from earlier season punch & sanding on the greens and punching of the fairways. Gorse / wild areas still gobble up the golf balls and don't readily give them back ;-), which is expected for a links type course.
Played the round in 4 hours - even with the course packed with players. Greens rolled very fast and fair.
Always love playing High Bridge Hills because conditions are reliable and green fees are competitive. Ask for the senior rate if you are over 60.
