Mercer Oaks Golf Course - West Course

What a a great job Mercer County Golf organized the opening of the courses during the Pandemic. Social distance checking in with starter, didn’t even see another golfer the whole round due to the excellent timing. The sun, weather, golf ~ Life felt good!

I have never seen the course in better shape. Thanks to all who made it so.

The course was in great shape. The 16-minute gap between twosome was totally unnecessary. We did not even see the group in front of us or behind us for all 18 holes. It was kind of nice like we owned the course but unnecessary.

We have played Mercer West before and it is still a nice layout and a challenging course. Course is in the process of getting new sod and ongoing maintenance but did not interfere with our round. Greens were bumpy but it is still winter. The weather was blustery and cold, another bad prediction from the weather people. Enjoyed our round and would recommend this course.

Excellent practice facility . Proper range and the putting green is representative of the greens on the course.

The course is rolling with generous fairways and large greens. There is some water and marsh that comes into play on 4 holes. The layout is interesting, I would describe it as woodland links.

There are 4 holes featuring fairly severe doglegs, the most dramatic of which is the 380 Yard 9th that requires a solid drive to an approach of 150 yds, 145 of it over water. Other holes of note are the 600 yd 8th (535 from whites ). The 17th is a picturesque plot curving 405 yards along a large reservoir taunting slicers. The signature par three is a 235 yard (182 from white) par three, with a raised green and deep bunkers guarding short left and right.

Greens were in good shape, we’ve had a mild winter and it shows. They roll true and are faster than your average muni.

I played from the blacks, and from the black and blue tees the course is looong, especially on this days where 12 hours of rain had left the fairways sodden and strong west wind on the back end of front rendered short holes long and Turned long holes into an odyssey. Over 7000 from the tips, 6200 from the whites and 5334 from up front, offer a good test of golf on a well maintained course .

Finally, the staff seems efficient and friendly. I asked to push my tee time back a half hour to practice, no problem, my request was handled with a smile. Solid golf experience.

Greens were rolling pretty good considering it's still winter golf. Can see the work they are doing to improve drainage. Will be in really good condition once the grass starts growing. Always a good value

Decided on Monday night that I couldn’t let a SECOND 60 degree day in February slip by without some golf, so went scrolling thru the Hot Deals and came across Mercer Oaks...It looked like the afternoon was the best chance to get the round in, so 1:30 Hot Deal it was.

We did get some rain in the morning and the night before, so it was Cart Path Only and you didn’t get much rollout on anything...but Mercer Oaks can’t control the weather.

Everything they can control was great! Staff was friendly, especially the Starter...came over to me on driving range double checked my tee time and made sure we were both on the same page. Pro Shop staff was great as well, answered all of my “First time here” questions.

So...for some random day in February, Mercer Oaks and staff delivered.

Can’t wait to make it back to try out the East Course!!

Had a great time. Was paired with 2 other guys to make up our 4 some. Had a blast. Course in pretty good shape for January. Windy! Wow 25 MPH gusts, sustained 10+. Hit a 7I into a green from 107 yards. Great time, will be back

I live in the Philly area and have played the best courses around here. This west course is as good as any course in a 100 mile radius. I play it once a month when I can get a good deal on GN. It has length, big greens usually fast as lightning and a layout second to none. Conditions are excellent. This is the best.
