Too much geese’s poops on many greens.
West is open after January closing. Too much geese poos on many greens. Very difficult to chip and put due to poops on all greens near ponds and lakes.
course well maintained
Great course to play. Well maintained. Staff friendly. Nothing bad to say about course, it's all good.
This review has been up for 5 years only 5 more to go
Thank you, DNICE123, for the great review and feedback! We're so happy that you had a great time with us. Come and see us again soon!
Nice evening nine
Always friendly staff and decent golf course Is conditions keep me coming back!
Pleasant surprise
A friend at the hotel recommended this course.. Played front 9 With 5 Goodwill clubs and shot a 44 with 2 Seven's on the card; Jarred My ball from the sand trap on number 7 for a birdie!
Everybody I met was very friendly and the course was in great condition considering the hot summer we've had. I'll be back!
Poor rain check management
On Tuesday, August 23 I bought and paid for 18 holes on the west course. After nine holes and making the turn I realize they had let two groups go off on the back nine severely holding up the pace of play, with impending rain coming in I decided to go back into the clubhouse and take a rain check the young kid behind the counter gave me a token and told me it was good for nine holes. On September 5 I went back to reclaim my nine holes with the token the young kid gave me and different very rude kid behind the counter told me that my token was a range token not a rain check token and denied me my rain check and nine holes which I was entitled to. I told him this is the token I was given for the rain check and he assured me no one that works there would have given me that token as a rain check basically accusing me of lying and trying to steal 9 holes.
The course condition is subpar at best...
Considered one of the best county courses in Mercer county, this couse is usually well maintained during the season. Clearly wasn't the case this past weekend and probably past month or so. I usually play maybe once a month at Mercer Oaks (last being the Independence Day weekend) and the couse condition was trash.
Greens were aerated a couple weeks ago, but that can not be the execuse for very very subpar green conditions as well as fairway and bunker conditions. Did all maintenance folks go on their summer vacation? Tee boxes, fairways, and GREENS need to be mowed! Two holes into the round I'm thinking let's just count two putts and move to the next hole as it was impossible to putt on the greens. Fairway bunkers are like dirt with weeds all over the place...
They really need to step up as Mercer county courses are falling way behind Somerset county courses and I don't see myself coming back to Mercer county courses rest of the year.
Mercer Oaks West
They just aerated the greens so it was awful to putt all day. Course was super dry as well. Definitely not worth $80
Good Shape considering the Drought
I’m a big fane of MO West. It’s a good test of golf with most everything right in front of you. Overall conditions are VG. We played the blue tees which are in good shape. The white tees are a bit beat up. This course gets a lot of play. Typically wall to wall times books up all day everyday. Fairways are consistently good. The rough is mostly good but there are some bare spots. Probably as a result of lack of sprinkler coverage. The greens are very healthy with ample turf. They are a bit slow. Probably running in the 8-9 range on the stimp. The bunkers are mostly in good shape, however some could use additional sand. They’re a little thin. There are also some areas on the course that could use trimming. Bushes have grown up to where you can’t see the hole. The par 5 fourth and par 5 16th are two examples. All in all, a great layout that’s in good shape and worth a visit a few times a year.
Please bring back the drinking water! (Excellent course otherwise)
Outside of a few fairway bunkers, both the West and East are in excellent shape compared to most other public courses in NJ. It is an unbeatable value for Mercer County residents.
I would give a perfect 5/5 rating if water coolers were brought back. It is a pain to pack a lot of water for a round, especially when walking. We now know Covid is very unlikely to be transmitted through surfaces, it’s time to bring the water back (please)!
Course needs water stations
This course is good but somebody is literally going to die because the county got cheap as does not put water stations out on the course. It’s horrible, more concerned about the money than golfer safety in the summer.
The course is fun to play moves pretty good !
Big, if poo
