Dunedin Golf Club

About
Dunedin Golf Club was carved out of citrus groves and was the PGA National Golf Course until 1962. The golf course itself is delightful. From elevation changes to a river that bisects the course, you can just feel the aura of the great golfers who have played here. Bobby Jones, Gene Saraze, Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, Byron Nelson, Paul Runyan to name a few have participated in tournaments here. Dunedin Country Club is located in Dunedin, minutes from the beaches, many restaurants and several top hotel options. Dunedin Golf Club is a Donald Ross creation.

Ed
Starter was great, friendly got us out earlier since range was closed from rain. Guy in pro shop, think he was the pro couldn't of been more rude.
Love the layout and the history
Always love playing this course i hear it going back to original layout cant wait
Disappointing Conditions and Unbelievable Pace of play
I was looking forward to playing this course for weeks, and sadly will never return.
Conditions on the front 9 were good-ish, but what seems to be long term draining issues made 3 holes on the back 9 borderline unplayable. Almost 100 yds of GUR on one Par 5 Fairway…..with forced carry too!
I’d forgive the conditions, but our pace of play was INEXCUSABLE. Finished the front 9 in just under 2 hrs…..no issues….then the fun started.
We arrived at the 10th tee only to find 3 groups waiting to tee off…..one was a twosome that just jumped in front of all of us, exclaming “We’re Members just playing 9!”……so, a 22 min delay there, but it was on 12 where we had a view of 4 holes, and what lay ahead. Lo and behold, 2 Five-somes of members….and we watched them play at a leisurely, jovial, pace without any regard over the remaining stretch.
-All in this resulted 2 hr 45 min back nine, with groups behind us angrily leaving the course with no hope of finishing before sunset at 5:55pm
No rangers, and no reply to messages sent on the GPS. If we hadn’t been dropped off we would have left.
- Tee’d off on 1 at 1:23, putted out on 18 at 5:58…in the dark.
I won’t go into the arrogant Service we experienced trying to have dinner at the bar, nor some of the most awful food, almost comically bad. ($85 later)
Stay away…..we will.
We hear they are closing in March…..not soon enough
Good course
The course was very good! Conditions were nice on front and ok on back. Only complaint was the back nine backs up and plays slow! Staff is about as good as they get!!
Just okay. Not worth the money
I was visiting and played here as it was close to Clearwater beach. Club rentals were a joke. Cost some 50 bucks and literally every other club has grips that were fraying off with every shot. Pretty open fairways. Otherwise nothing special. Some parts of fairways def not well maintained. Perfect for 40-50 dollars not 80-100 that they charge.
Would play again little slow on back 9 little expensive with out hot deal
Would play again little slow on back 9 Would play again little slow on back 9 little expensive within hot deal
Dunedin Country Club Course - Great Course
The course conditions were terrific. The winter grass throughout the fairways & t-boxes were beautiful. The greens were in very good shape too. Thoroughly enjoyed our round.
Christmas Eve
I know it was Christmas Eve...certainly all staff deserve time off....I suggest don't open...range was closed...tee time was 1218..got there 1115...told us to go to 1st tee...man at bag drop was excellent..friendly...man behind counter not so much...pretend to like people...course wasn't bad..lots of bad golfers in front of us..lol....pace little slow...no rangers...cart girl really nice...Ok..overall
All good except..
Nice day. Played front 9 with a great couple. Trying to beat the daylight on the back 9 playing alone. All good til I caught up with a 6-some on #15. That blew up that idea. Skipped out early.
6 hours round! Avoid this course
If you want to spend 6 hours on a golf course, have at least 2 flights in front of you on each and same hole, then go to Dunedin!
You better select another nice nearby course of the region
The pace of the game was catastrophic, no marshall seen during the whole round.
Definitely last time I go playing there!
Fairways overseeded
The fairways were beginning to improve due to over seeding with rye. Greens in good shape but a little slow. Donald Ross design is challenging
Check I staff
We showed up early for tee time .
Asked if we could get out early .
Cold day many cancellations.
I felt that after we checked in we were the responsibility of the starter .
Had breakfast in clubhouse . Great .
Starter told us that we they had many cancellations .
