Course difficulty would not work and I;d rank it as fair
Very bad experience. I wasn't listed as playing . THe course was in very poor shape. Unkemp ruff and faurways. Greens were only feature that were ok. I walked off after nine and asked pro for refund. He told me that he'd played Pine Valley and I shouldn't expect good playing conditions for $44 . NOt a good way to talk to paying customer.Only course in the area tjat's worse is Rainbow Springs CC.
A good test for all players, with very good greens
The course is average or above, and the greens were in very good condition for this time of year. The only problem was in the pro shop, where the gentleman taking our Tee time grumbled about not making any money on Golf Now deals. It gave us a bad taste to begin the round.
Lots of Doglegs
Very nice , old style, course design.....lots of doglegs on front nine that require irons off tee for long hitters , all aspects of course condition were very good , best thing here is how nice the people are that work here.....a very enjoyable day
Overall, we enjoy playing this course.
On this particular day, our pace of play was extremely show. Our starter informed us they had overbooked some tee times - i.e. our time had three reservations for it. Had a 4-some in front of us which included a teaching pro - we waited at least 5 minutes on each tee as the "pros" in front of us took their sweet time. Not a good example of promoting "picking up pace of play" especially when the course is overbooked.
Fun course to play
Course conditions were good for this time of year. Course layout interesting, doglegs and elevated greens very prominent. Yardage from the fairway to the green requires one to two more clubs. Enough traps to keep your shots honest. Tall trees on point of doglegs makes cutting the distance difficult. Greens were smooth but reading the breaks takes some on course experience. Players are advised to keep the ball in the fairwatys, mature trees and lots of roots will penalize errant shots.
Liked the elevation changes this course offfers.
This is a course we will play again. Overall the course was in very good condition, the greens were great. My group members enjoyed the drastic elevation changes on some of the holes. It's a nice change from the normal flat courses, for the most part, in our area. They also have a nice dinning area to have lunch after the round.
Citrus Springs is excellent value!
Spent a week traveling around the the Ocala/Sarasota west coast area playing a variety of 4 star rated Golfnow value courses. All were great, but Citrus Springs offered the best value and experience for the average golfer. The course is reasonably well maintained for the greens fees paid, but the greens are as good as at pricier courses. Staff were very friendly, and the layout was challenging but very playable for even a mid-handicapper like me. It is worth the drive through rural Florida citrus country to play the course, especially for someone from out of state passing through for a winter vacation. I hesitate to write this review because I don't want the secret to get out and drive up greens fees.
great course for the money
fairways were good, greens were in great shape, staff was very friendly, overall a great value in central Florida
Rolling moderately challenging course
Lots of up and down holes. Wouldn't recommend walking. Fairways and greens in good condition. Buildings and equipment need some improvement.
Nice rolling hills course.
Challenging fairways. Several elevated greens. Green surfaces were excellent. We have played eight courses here in central Florida over the past 20 days. Citrus Springs is our second most appreciated course, only behind Kings Ridge.
Nice course
Greens in great shape!!! Wonderful course. Average length.
Nice layout and in excellent condition.
Citrus Springs has a very interesting layout, offering plenty of challenge without brbeing brutal. The greens and fairways were in excellent condition.
great course with super greens
Beautifull course with difficult quick and ondulated greens.
I will be back.
Greens were very nice rolled true and fairly fast
Green we're in good condition an rolled true and fast
Very Nice
Very nice course with hilly fairways and soft, fast greens. Greens were overall excellent with only a few bad spots near the front of a few greens - did not come into play.
