Nice Track
I like to walk the course even with the hills. It is a municipal course but it is in excellent shape. When the city purchased the course they tried to get back the land that the club sold to a seminary school. Didn’t happen and that is why there are 3 par 3 holes on the back 9.
I play there often
Best NYC Muni Course
This is the best municipal course in NYC. Greens were in great condition. If you're a long hitter, black tees will be good for you because there are several holes you need to carry. From the front tees, beginners or high handicaps will find it enjoyable.
I will say that the back 9 is harder and you do need to be familiar with the way the greens slope because your balls will roll down to certain valleys.
You can order food on 8 and 9 and pick it up at the club house. The clubhouse looks like rivierra lol. Very cute.
Nice muni course
The course is in good shape. I have been playing there for 60 years, I do like the place
Douglaston is always a fun course
The course is on the shorter side -par 67. Pace of play was ok. We had to wait on a couple of holes but not bad. The course was in good shape except for tee boxes on 15-17 which were in surprisingly poor condition. The greens rolled very well and were in great shape. Fairways were also in good shape.
Terrible Pace of Play
5:18 tee time and granted we played fast, by the time we got to 10, there were 4 teams backed up. 1) Considering we were the 1st team out, there should be absolutely no reason for teams to be backed up on 10 and 2) if so, someone on the course should be helping dictate traffic. Course is its usual so gave it 3 stars but pace of play management was horrendous. 80 min on front 9. Over 3 hours to play back 9.
Poorly Ran and Managed! LOOOOOONG ROUND!!!
I hate to offer this type of feedback on a course that was only played once ... BUT ....!!!!! The round started off with 4 foursomes at the starting box .... Players were hacking 3-4 shots per person ... The pace of play was terrible ..taking 3 1/2 hours for just 9 holes. There is no one out checking on pace which equates to a volatile situation on the course .... We got through 13 holes in nearly 5 hours.
Challenging and lots of hills
Shortish course. Challenging tees and greens. Love the course
