Typical
Although early we were delayed at every hole, until the 4some in front of us repeated the front 9.
Thanks Guys!
Slow
The conditions of the course were fine and the layout for Douglaston is actually pretty decent. There are good bones to the course and can be excellent if the rangers enforced pace of play/ We only finished 15 holes in our 4 hours and 10 minutes (this is a short course of par 67) of play because of the chaos. There were numerous groups that simply skipped holes to play the last couple leading to a massive backup. I understand Douglaston is a "muni" or "city" course but at the very least this kind of behavior should be put to a stop.
Course Management - please put rangers to work and enforce a no skipping holes policy and pace of play. You really do have an excellent course and can be a much more enjoyable experience with a little encouragement from your rangers.
Decent Course
For a Queens city course , it's the best in Queens in terms of conditions. Overall 75% of the course was in good shape. The fairways are covered in 2 weeks worth of leaves. Some Tee boxes are just mud and the 18th hole par 5 is cut in half. The "tee box" on 18 is on an up slope. Better options on Long Island. Club house is dated and underwhelming.
Aerating day should be discounted
Had to wait on multiple holes as they were aerating the greens during our round. Round started at 7:33am and 18th hole started roughly 100 yards ahead from original tee box due to work being done.
