Worst golf experience of my life
A bunch or beginners playing this course so expect a round to be 6 hours. Tee boxes all ripped up. Very expensive for the course your playing. Worst golf experience in my life. Rather quit the sport than ever play there again. Brutal
Pace of place is terrible.
I teed off at 2:45 on a beautiful sunday in August. It took about 3 hours and 15 minutes to play nine holes. Everyone that plays here is inexperienced and the course pushes out tee times every 10 minutes so they can make their money. The starter does not care when you complain and will argue back saying this is how its supposed to play. the WORST golf experiences in my life and ive played at over 30 courses and over 150 times. I will not ever recommend this course to anyone and i will NEVER play here again. You actually couldnt pay me to play on this course again. The worst experience ever it makes me want to quit the sport. I should get a full refund its that bad. NEVER play here.

Decent but could use somework
I’ve played Douglaston countless times. The tee boxes were in poor condition which was surprising given my previous rounds there. Fairways were in good shape and the greens as well although the greens were painfully slow. Great layout that could be a gem with a little attention to the areas I mentioned.
Nice course in bad shape
Course has a nice layout and I remember it being in a lot nicer shape but this round it was in horrendous shape. Tee boxes were horrible grass was dry and about 50% of greens were in bad shape. Nice staff and a good layout.
100% different
I'm in my 60s and I've been coming to Douglaston golf course with my buddies since the late 70s...It has the same fun atmosphere as it had back then they've recaptured that and made the course equal to any public course in the five boroughs as far as the condition of the course. Also the staff are great which is also a Huge improvement since the last few years.
Horrible tee boxes
most of the par 3 tee boxes are in terrible shape and are in desperate need of repair,

Played this course as a young man with my father and it was a dust bowl. Now?... A beautiful, challenging, well kept course.
Challenging course, beautifully groomed
I played here in the 1908's with my father and I didn't even recognize the course this time. Back then it was a dust bowl. Today it is a beautifully manicured and competitive course.
