Awesome
Challenging course. Tough greens. Would not recommend for beginners.
Great course
This course is always great. Conditions excellent greens were true and quick.
Awesome course!
We play this course every time we come to visit family in PA--it's our favorite!
a must play course
Course was in great shape nice wide fairways greens were great got there 30 minutes early and they let us go right out 4 hour round very little wait can't wait to go back
Jack Frost - Great Play but locally chilly reception
Great Golf course in wonderful condition. Very challenging and it can play long fron the black and championship tees. Wonderful mountain course with great variety and spansive greens. Numerous pin position opportunities to play again and again.
Not crowded during mid week and you can play in well under 4 hours. Great getaway course. We travelled 90 minutes from Philadelphia to beat the heat and humidity. 10 degrees cooler and far less humidity!
Negative concern was reception from local players and members who consider this their own golf course and have no respect for guests.. We were a twosome and expected to wait for groups ahead. We caught the groups ahead of us on the third hole who had consolidated to a sixem. A caravan of carts! They did not offer nor would not allow us to play through. We slowly followed their play from 3 thru 8 until they split up to avoid detection from the proshop on the ninth hole. We watched as they replayed shots and practiced repeat putts. We waited on every tee and in every fairway.
Thank you to them for leaving after 9! No marshalling on-course for observation for pace of play. We played the front in over 2 hrs and 30 minutes and the back in less than 1 hr and 30. minutes.
Will would certainly play again but would not hestitate to contact the proshop if confronted with a similar situation. They need to police pace of play not just talk about it!
Scott
One of the top five courses in the northeast. Great shape from tees to greens.
Nice course
The course was nice but they really need a clubhouse and a better patio the conditions were ok but really wet I think it could have a better drainage system the cart girl was really nice though. All in all a good time
AWESOME!!!
What an awesome course. We played on a saturday and it was as nice a public course as I have played.
Course was busy but pace was Excellent as we played in 4:20 which is great for a busy public course. The conditions were top notch...greens were fast and smooth probably rolling around 10-10.5. Fairways were immaculate and we'll manicured. Bunkers were in good shape.
The best part of the place is the staff, very accommodating and nice.
I highly recommend this gem!!
Good Balue out of Tee-Time Book
Very little to complain about here! Fine greens, practice facilities, putting green and overall course conditions. A sufficient challenge to the best of golfers and relatively fair. Lots of elevation changes that add to the challenge. Clubbing will require an extra effort to get it right Proper selection will save quite a few strokes. Enjoyed the round with no complaints from any of my playing partners.
Best of the Poconos - Hidden Gem!
I've played here numerous times and have always found the course to be fair, well maintained and always a great value. Greens range from fast to slow depending on aeration sessions in spring/fall. When the greens are in good shape, they're the truest in the poconos (and quickest). From tee to green, the course is very fair with no hidden trouble and the couse plays different from each set of tees. Doesn't matter the players handicap - the course is challenging for all boxes, a true test for any player. Pace of play can vary depending on the weather - if it's sunny and the wind is down; the tee sheet fills up fast and the rounds get longer - when the wind is up the course opens up and you can get a round in very easily under 4.5 hours. The proshop guys are great and the cart girls/cafe attendants are friendly, courteous and overall great people.
The practice facilities are great - grass tee boxes with 10-15 'bays' marked off, an approach range as well as a multi-tiered putting green commensurate with what players will see on course. Top notch for a younger course - will only get better with age.
good golf course
green is very chlenger course
This course is very difficult and beautiful.
if you going to there you need lot of ball
hahaha..
JFN
great course for the Golf Now price - no water hazards but lots of sand traps - clubhouse and restaurant below par but course great -
Best Course in the Poconos!
Well maintained golf course. Just a beautiful course from tee to green for 18 holes.
Good shape for early in the year
Played it on 4-18 and it was in remarkably good shape after the brutal winter we had. It was wet in some of the lower lying spots, but overall very playable. Greens were in very good shape for this time of year. It was a freak warm day for early April and seemed like everyone decided to come out and play at the last minute and the course got very jammed up. We had to quit after 9 as the pace slowed to a crawl. I've played here before and this seems to be the case often. Trying to make the turn and get to the back 9 is a problem. People stop and diddle around at the clubhouse and then diddle around out on the course. They have small signs all over the cart telling folks they take the pace of play seriously, but need a ranger out there to enforce it. I love the course and would make the 55 minute trip to play it more often, but would like to play the whole 18 holes, and in no more than 4.5 hours. But then, NO round of golf should ever take more than that.
The folks who work there, however, are always very nice, and gave us a rain check to come back and play another day. Their customer service is always top notch.
Great shape, wide fairways, too many 2 tiered greens
The course was in fantastic shape. $40 on a Tuesday a super deal. Fairways are very generous, although they put traps in the middle of some fairways to increase the challenge. The greens were very fast, which I like. My only gripe is that for a course built next to a ski resort, there would be plenty of slope on the greens. There are too many 2 tiered greens where putting off the green or having your putt return to your feet are a possibility. Still well worth the trip.
Pocono's best
Second time here and even with the one hour frost delay I truly enjoyed this course. I was greeted and helped from the moment I pulled up into the lot until we teed off. Had time to get a breakfast sandwich and a bucket of balls and was ready when our group was called. The starter was friendly and she offered some useful guidance .the course was great with enough challenge to make it a regular and not get bored. Even with the hour travel from New Jersey I expect to come here often.
every hole is different
great layout where every hole is different...every green complex is different. bring your A game if you decide to stretch your game from a further tee. not a typical mountain layout....zero silly holes.
played twice
Played for the first time two days earlier but enjoyed enough to go back again during our week in the Poconos. Wonderful mountain course that challenges but in a fair way- unlike Split Rock resort nearby that punishes you even with a good shot! The only problem was that both rounds were about 5 hours, never saw a ranger except with 3 holes to play in our second round. We really enjoyed the course though and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
A gem in the Poconos
Saw that the course had made the Golf Magazine's list of "top courses you can play" in PA and decided to give it a try. It turned out to be a great decision.... fantastic layout w/ just the right amount of doglegs, elevation changes and forced carries; great view everywhere; not too crowded (3.5 hr round which doesn't happen too often these days); friendly staff; very nice practice/warm-up facility. The only negative was that the greens were too slow. I have played at other courses on the list, and this place should definitely be rated higher than some of them (like Berkleigh, Lederach, and so on). Although the course is tucked in the Poconos, it was fairly easy to get to - just off the PA Turnpike/I-80. I will definitely be playing here again, soon.
