Challenging but......
Well, for $80 per player, first impressions are very important. Upon pulling up, my group was not very impressed, should I say, and neither was I. Absence of a beautiful clubhouse was surprising. The course was nice, but I have to say I had much higher expectations after researching other reviews. Talking about reviews, I would have to agree with one that mentioned about the rangers speeding up play. We actually moved along fine, but I am thankful that no one was behind us, because it seemed at every turn we ran into ranger Dan. Could have been a very uncomfortable round. Nice guy though, but seemed we ran into him a little too much. I am a single handicap and like fast greens, and they were very quick that day, but I feel those speeds for the random golfer attributes very much to slow play, and I see by past reviews that was a problem. The course being challenging as it is, you may want to irrigate the greens to make them a little more receptive and maybe not roll them so much, so not so many balls hit and roll far off. I know it's a tough balancing act, but again my group travelled over an hour to get there and spent $80, only to get beat up should we say by the course. Overall, course was nice and staff was very polite, just not sure if we'll rush back to play.
Awesome course...
This is the best course I have played in the Poconos. The greens were true and very quick which seems rare these days. Tee boxes and fairways were great as well.
Great Deal!!!
It's a fun course to play. Wide fairway even though it's through the forest. Ther are no parallel holes, so each hole is all by its self, nice. It plays shorter than the yardage indicates. Entire course was in good condition.
Greens were a challenge, because the course is rolling they were difficult to read. "The Deal" $38 for senior w/cart and a good lunch and drink (soda or beer).
Jack Frost May
Course was in great condition considering early in spring season
You gotta go
Jack Frost really is a hidden gem. Its very much resort style golf...except without the resort! From each hole you cannot see the other holes. Nothing plays alongside another hole, houses, etc. You will see wildlife and one of the prettiest courses in NE Pennsylvania. Generous fairways and large (but difficult) green complexes. They always have great deals to play here on GolfNow, and its certainly worth trying. Though its over an hour and 20min from my home, this has become one of my favorites.
The course is a scenic ride
The course has many challenging tee shots, strategically placed fairway bunkers for risk or reward.the greens were exceptional and of a good pace.
When in the Pocono area, I make it a point to get here.
I typically play here on my way to or my way back from fishing trips to NY. I also play early or late in the golf season when you wouldn't expect much. The course has always been fantastic. Fairways that are good sized and you typically have a target bunker or tree to aim at. The greens are usually fast, smooth and pretty difficult if you hit it on the wrong section. Many courses have tiers that are front and back. This course has some of that but it also has several greens with side to side tiers. Good mix of short holes and longer holes. Great views. I've sent several guys here and they've all come back impressed. If you get the opportunity to play it when in the area......you won't be sorry you did. Has to be one of the 10 best public courses in the state.
Course it's self is a very Carolingian course would play it again
Very disappointed was not told that we had a back up that was very annoying to talk us hour and 15 minutes to play three holes very disappointed we walked off the course because They had no staff to do anything
Best course in the Poconos
Jack Frost is likely the best course in the Poconos (although I have not made it to Woodloch Springs, quite far from mainstream Poconos). Fairways are wide, and the course is as long as you need. You can play from 6200-7200 yards, and it is very hilly. The starter let me walk/carry, despite his concerns about my ability to do so (I am 51), and I appreciated that. Fitbit said it was a 9.5 mile walk, so if you would like to walk take that into consideration. Conditions were fantastic, and as others have said the greens are tough to read due to the course being on the side of the mountain. It is a shame that the clubhouse is not much more than a trailer. Can't quite call it a "bucket list" course, but it is on a tier just below that.
Awesome
Agree with comments about how nice are the course conditions. Tee to green, practice facility, staff. It was packed to the max but still got around in 4:30. The wife skipped a hole now and then which helped.
Keep in mind with this being a mountain course there are some breaks you won't see while putting. I didn't ask the pro about breaking putts but should have. Watching the ball break rolling UP and incline was bizarre but to be expected.
great course
greens were excellent pace of play was good 4hours and 20 minutes. great staff and good playing partners. a most enjoyable day will be back.
Great experience
Amazing conditions and a friendly staff. Great views and a very fair course. Great round. Ran into a scramble though and really hindered our pace of play.
Great condition
This course is only eight years old and does not have permanent clubhouse facilities as yet but the temporary ones are quite adequate.
This is a long hilly course making a power cart essential.
The practice area, tees, fairways an greens are all well maintained.
Fairways are wide but bunkers will punish misplaced shots. They are cut short leading to lots of roll, which is not always a good thing.
Greens are large, fast and have moderate bunker protection. There is plenty of slope and roll but it is even and fair. Accurate approach shots are important to keep the ball on the green.
We did not use the restaurant so cannot comment on it.
There are five sets of tees, well spread out, making it easier for shorter hitters.
A beautiful setting for a very well designed and maintained course making for an enjoyable experience.
Beautiful course.
This course is by far the best I've played yet. It's a beautiful course, great greens, magnificent fairways, excellent views. I'll definitely be coming back again and again to this course.
Quality Golf Course
Great course in great shape. Excellent practice facilities. Small but nice clubhouse with a very friendly staff. Booked an online Ttime so got an awesome deal. My only complaint/gripe would be pace of play but I was in a twosome playing behind two groups of 4. Overall it's a Must play but very tough course which I throughly enjoyed. I will definitely be back.
Absolutely love this golf course!
My only gripe is that I don't live closer! Absolutely gorgeous course in excellent condition. Easily one of the best courses in the area and you can get on for cheap using online tee time discounters. Definitely not for high handicappers, there are some pretty open fairways but most of the course is lined with dense forest. Clubhouse seems a little lacking for how nice the course is, but that's a very minor flaw in my opinion. Although I didn't make use of it, the practice facility looks very nice as well.
One of the best in NE PA
Beautiful mountain course, challenging but not unfair. One of the best courses in NE PA. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Can't wait to play it again.
Bad greens
They were aerating the greens the time we played and they never told us when we booked our round greens were in terrible shape should've got more of a discount very disappointed I heard a lot of good things about Jackfrost national
Great Course
I have played this course many times. The layout is challenging. The greens are fast and the scenery is fabulous.
The only negative I have from this round is that the greens were punched the previous day. Golf Now should have made that clear when making the reservation.
Great Round
Course was in excellent shape, greens were fast but true, pace was great finished in about 4 hours, great views around the course, highly recommended.

Thank you for your feedback.
I do appreciate the fact that you would like to see a big beautiful clubhouse and so would most golfers. We one day hope to build a grand clubhouse but we must make sure the timing is right. At this time we choose to reinvest our money back into the course and give our customers top notch conditions.
Yes we have been criticized for slow paly in the past and I find it refreshing that you are complaining that my ranger was proactive and nice. Dan is an exceptionally nice guy that does a fantastic job making sure the pace continues to move.
Yes we do keep our greens at a nice fast pace and that is what separates our course from most public courses. They generally hold fairly well, but with
the lack of rain it has made the course play firm and fast.
Again thank you for your feedback and I hope to see you again soon.
