Broadlands Golf Club
About
Broadlands Golf Club in North Prairie is one of the most popular public golf courses in the Milwaukee area and also one of southeastern Wisconsin's best values. With a wide-open, virtually treeless landscape, the course has a traditional links design. It offers plenty of challenges but it is also not overly difficult for high handicappers. Water comes into play on a few holes, mostly on the front nine. Emphasis is placed on proper club selection, especially for the finishing hole, a downhill par 3 with bunkers and native grasses framing the two-tiered green. It is an especially tough hole on a windy day. The golf course is versatile and accommodates a wide range of skill levels. Its playability has made it a popular host for amateur tournaments and outings. Broadlands Golf Club also has a driving range for golfers to use.

Nice course, good value, poor pace of play
I've played here many times. Very decent golf course, fun layout and conditions are pretty good. And for $25, a real value. But their pace of play is consistently poor, especially on weekends. I think I found out why.
I booked the round as single. I arrived about 50 minutes before my tee time. As I was checking in, I asked the guy inside--who seems to always be grumpy--if there was a possibility that I could start early. "Absolutely not" I was told. I replied, "booked solid, huh?" He said they were.
Didn't feel like hitting balls so I went to work on the short game. The putting green is within sight of the first tee. They have a starter. But I certainly didn't see people lined up waiting to tee off----like usual. So after about 10 of not seeing anyone tee off, or even look like anyone was ready to go, I went and asked the starter if I could go. Same answer. No way. So I went back to putting. Watched a two some tee off and leave. Then I watched another two some tee off and leave. Another two some pulled up to the tee. So I went over to the starter and asked about why all these two somes were teeing off while at the very least, I could have joined one of them? He sort of seemed kind of puzzled but then said, "Ok, you can join that two some." So I went up and introduced myself, but they seemed like they wanted to play alone. So I asked them if they'd rather play by themselves and they said they would prefer to do that. So I said, "do you mind if I tee off, catch the two some in front and play with them?" They said no problem. So I tee off, pop one down the middle and off I go. I'm on the first green, and here comes the marshal. "Please sir, we don't like singles out here playing because people start complaining about pace of play." I informed them they have a pace of play problem because they let two somes tee off when they should be paired up as a group of four. And that they could have paired me up with another two some instead of having this cluster on the first tee. The starter---a good starter--- could easily do this and make this much better. Other than pace of play, I give the course above average marks.
Great Course Bad Paring
PLayed this course on Saturday at noon. Our twosome (both golfers are around 7 handicaps) were paired with two first time golfers. While the course was challenging and in great condition we were constantly looking for balls and trying to keep up with the group ahead. Not a course for a first time golfer. Greens were great as were the fairways, traps as most in this area were hard. Definitely would like another shot at it with a more experienced group.
Great Value and Layout
Played at noon on Saturday, only negative was my twosome was paired with a couple of beginner golfers. Course was in great conditions, fairways and greens were incredible, traps sort of average after some rain. This is not an easy course from the back tees, lots of forced carries and some fairly long par 3 holes as well. Great value via golfnow.com. I would definitely play here again.
Great location
Hard to find golf balls in the rough, not the Prairie grass, the rough along the fairway.
I recommend this course
The course is nicely laid out on beautiful rolling terrain. The fairways are generous and the greens and fairways are typically kept in great condition.
Great track! Awesome staff!
This course is 12 minutes from my house. I play it 5-10 times per year as I also play several other courses. It is a fun track with great par-5's designs.
Broadlands Broad Fairways
Coarse in pretty good shape currently considering the Spring weather so far. Greens are acceptable and should improve soon . Not too busy during the week .
Great course - very windy round
The course was great to play. Although the slope was not to high, there was a lot of wind which really made the round interesting. I loved playing it. We teed off at 4pm and we're able to finish our round in 3.5 hours. The greens were hard and fast - which I'm not used to. But overall a really nice to play. I'm definitely going to play there again.
Overbooked, slow play
Slammed too many golfers on the course. No rangers, slow play. 6+ hours to play 18? Pathetic!
Best Course Around
This is the nicest public course I've ever played! This course is inexpensive for the course conditions! The staff is very friendly and they know what you should put in your bag if looking for a new club or golf balls! The course is beautiful and offers several different tee boxes for different levels of play! The golf pro is amazing and and can fix any problems you have in your swing! If you have not played this course, get out and play it!
All Around Nice Facility
Well kept greens, fairways, and traps. The starters are always on the ball to keep
the pace. Friendly staff, carts well maintained. A step above other courses here in southern WI.
Average time on a quality course.
I've played the Broadlands a handful of times now. This weekend I snagged a golfnow.com deal for $45. As usual, the old gentleman in the pro shop was crabby and didn't say a word when I walked in, the young man working the register did however. The starter was MIA for a bit so I had to wait awhile to get my cart; strange system if you ask me.
The driving range is in good shape, it'd be nice if they were selling range ball tokens down near the range as opposed to solely in the pro shop. I knew this, but my buddies didn't. The range is a few minute ride to and from.
The course was in great shape for October. Greens were a bit sandy. Fairways were lush, teeboxes too.
Pace of play was awful. 12:04 tee time, walked off 18 at 5:15. The starter/marshall didn't seem to keep things moving. The single behind us left after 14. Easily the slowest round I've played in a long time.
On top of it, a group of about 16 were driving around in some ryder cup type outing with silly large flags attached to their carts. Annoying and loud, shouldn't have been allowed.
I enjoy the course but won't go back.

I always have fun at broadband good course at reasonable prices
Great Golfing Experience
The golf course is in very good condition considering it is the end of the season. Kudos to the grounds crew. The greens are in good shape and while there are several pitch marks on them, most are repaired and are not likely to interfere with your putting. The greens are not too onerous in terms of reading, though the 2nd hole can can be challenging if the pin is in the front and you fly your approach shot to the back. The pace of play was not the best on the front nine, but I called the clubhouse and they sent someone out to get things going. The course is one of the more fun venues to play in SE Wisconsin and offers players the ability to score, especially if you are decent golfer. In my opinion, the back plays a tad easier than the front and the layout is fabulous for the last 3 holes. All 3 (short and elevated par 5, short and elevated par 4, elevated par 3) can give a player the opportunity to finish strong. I played this course with a Callaway Supersoft - no need for a lot of spin here, though players are probably helped by a ball that spins more on holes 3 and 4.

Great course for price; check for internet specials. Nice layout and excellent course conditions. Friendly staff and very well stocked clubhouse. Beverages from the beautiful cart girls are comparatively overpriced, as well as range balls (small bucket of dirty balls for $6)
