Verde River Golf & Social Club
About
Verde River Golf & Social Club (formerly known as Tegavah Golf Club and Vista Verde Golf Course) has a desert style layout that features panoramic views of Four Peaks, the Superstition Mountains, Weaver's Needle, and the Tonto National Forest. In addition to the scenery, the golf course also presents interesting challenges such as subtle contours and desert wasteland areas that guard the holes. The greens lead to generous landing areas that require precision and length. Although only one water hazard comes into play on one hole, there are several sand bunkers strategically situated throughout. Verde River Golf & Social Club offers five sets of teeboxes to offer suitable challenges for players of all skill levels and abilities.

Worth the Trip
Second time playing up there. Very nice layout. Greens are a bit furry and slow, but expected for summer.
Another Scottsdale Winner
Relatively new course, still getting it's feet under it. Facilities still under construction (putting green, etc). Driving range is in and good. Relatively flat desert terrain but the design brings the desert into play on all holes. Numerous washes across the fairways which require you to know how far you hit certain clubs. Greens are not fast ala Troon or Boulders but reasonable. Very few houses built yet so if you spray the ball now is the time to play before it gets built up.
A course that will put you to sleep
Very boring golf on the Scottsdale side of town. A course with not much character. Not worth the drive. Conditions were average, but playable. Disappointed in this one.
Only Course I Like
The fact that this course is not a solid 5 stars blows me out of the water. This course was absolutely phenomenal to play, set up in a tournament style way, virtually keeping every hole private from the next. The course was difficult as it is very long, and combined that with tough sloping greens made it a great challenge for any player. The reason I believe it hasn't been rated higher is because the majority of the course is under construction as they are making a lot of improvements to the entire course (it just came under new management). The course blows you away with stunning views on every hole, incredibly isolated golf, and a fun time offering a challenge. I compared this to We-ko-pa Cholla course, with it falling a very close second to it for me. Come three years I have a feeling this course will be easily top 5 in the state, if not higher. Great course and it has become my new favorite, especially for the price.
Great Value
A 30 dollars for their summer "twilight hours" - which begin at 11am, this course was a GREAT value.
There is still some construction being finished, however this does not affect the play at all. Pleasant staff, and a lot of fun to play. I was in town on business and had some time to kill. This is definitely a worth while course.
Nice Track
Wow never knew it was there but read the reviews and decided to make the trip from queen creek. Well worth the drive and will go again for sure. This course was in great shape and an awesome layout. Super playable and just a fun day. Great views and not crowded at all. The staff was all nice and made us feel welcome. A must play for sure!
Hidden Gem!!!
What a fantastic course. Off the beaten path for sure but this is a well cared for course. The greens were sanded the day I played but they still rolled very true. I highly recommend playing this course!!!
great shape
The course was in great shape greens were perfect the only bad thing I can say is the cart girl was very slow coming around And would drive right past you if you didn't flag her down needs more training
Great Course
Very friendly staff.
Course was in spectacular shape. Very challenging. Unbelievable views. Will be going back for sure.
great course
Everytime I come to Phoenix I play this course. Love the layout and course is always in good shape. I like long golf courses and from the tips its a really good vhallenge. The greems were a little sketchy yestetday but I get it, its 112 degrees. I dont expect pristine conditions in the summer down here so its fine. Good course.
Tegavah
the course is in great shape for the summer. It is a great course to play. Finished in 1hr 45 minutes having no one in front of me. This is the hidden gem of the Valley. the rate was great and the staff was friendly. Surprised that it was not busy . Perhaps the temps were to hot for other golfers.
This course is way east
Enjoyed the layout. Stay middle/left on #8. Great mountain views. Very quiet.
vista verde
course in good condition. Excellent range. Newer facilities. Staff was friendly. course has multiple tee options and some rated split/combo tees.
Great track!
One of the very best values for the money in Phoenix area. I really hope the new ownership makes it work. I'll do my part by playing frequently.
AWSOME COURSE
The course is just FANTASTIC! It was a long drive for us to get there but it is worth the drive. The course is in great shape and the staff are very friendly. We will definitely be back again and this time we are going to bring our good camera. AWESOME VIEWS!!!!!!
Hidden Gem
As other reviewers had stated, this is really a hidden gem of a golf course. Somewhat similar to Quintero in the Northwest valley in layout, but much more playable for all skill levels. Greens had been recently aerated, so putts were somewhat slow. Fairways were in great shape for late June ( a few dry spots here & there) & the rough was also in great condition. A tough, but fair course. For those that are local to Phoenix, a great chance to play a really great course for a great price. Make the drive, you won't be disappointed!
Overall great course, replace the cart staff-
Usually don't take time for reviews due to the amount of golf played and generally positive experiences one expects a norm in the hospitality industry, therefore when something happens that warrants one, feel compelled to share. The curt, authoritarian attitude from the the cart staff was unnecessary, out-of-line, and felt like borderline harassment. On a very slow summer afternoon there was badgered "not to park to close to the clubhouse- I'm going to move your cart" while stopping to get some ice at the turn- mind you there may have been a total of 10 golfers at the course that afternoon and wasn't impeding traffic during the two minutes I stopped. Was a super windy day and stopped at the range when I finished just to hit a few small wedges to shake off the some of the tough shots I had hit earlier- as soon as I layed into the second ball a cart comes racing down from the clubhouse with the same individual, comes directly to me and informs me the range is now closed but he'll allow me to finish up the few balls I have on the ground- ok, no prob, some facilities are strict about not allowing range use after the round, and some don't mind at all. Always wanted to try this course, as it's virtually undeveloped right now- which is rare in the valley- and the course itself was great- but that attitude from this particular staff person made it seem very unfriendly, targeted and kind of abrasive, which will not have me make the 45 min drive back there anytime soon until maybe enough time has passed that he has been replaced or moved on to some loftier position elsewhere. That said, was just this one individual that sort of ruined the experience and hope its not an extension of management's philosophy on how they believe their guests should be handled. As a year-round resident I play many of the upscale courses here and everything in between, which gives me enough experience to compare, and you won't see this type of behavior even at many of the upper-tier facilities. Having the option essentially to play anywhere I choose in the area, the courses that are welcoming from beginning to end, and treat me with some dignity are usually where I find myself returning too, and there are many here that do-
HIdden Gem
On the far out-reach of the Phoenix/Scottsdale metro, but also provides for fantastic scenery and desert surroundings as compared to more central courses. Absolutely worth the drive - best course played by our group while in Phoenix. Course is "young" but will be great in time as additional facilities/accommodations are provided and improve.
Course is phenomenal
Layout and conditions are great. Highly recommend this course and can't wait to get back out there.
Generous Fairways for a desert course
Desert Course without the tight fairways. Good grass on fairways and greens. Firm coarse sand in bunkers which I prefer. Played after 3PM in less than 3 hrs. Good value
