Verde River Golf & Social Club
About
Verde River Golf & Social Club (formerly known as Tegavah Golf Club and Vista Verde Golf Course) has a desert style layout that features panoramic views of Four Peaks, the Superstition Mountains, Weaver's Needle, and the Tonto National Forest. In addition to the scenery, the golf course also presents interesting challenges such as subtle contours and desert wasteland areas that guard the holes. The greens lead to generous landing areas that require precision and length. Although only one water hazard comes into play on one hole, there are several sand bunkers strategically situated throughout. Verde River Golf & Social Club offers five sets of teeboxes to offer suitable challenges for players of all skill levels and abilities.

Lots of fun
This course is in very nice condition with a nice mix of holes. It will challenge your whole game. The backdrops are awesome.
entertaining course
great staff.the course was in good shape.the greens were in good condition and a good test of golf
Great course for the money.
The greens were in great shape, and the pace of play was wonderful. A great course for the money.
played 5/24/14. Dave
Course was in good shape & facilities have been upgraded under new ownership to better trailers with a real parking lot. They continue to make it better. Good value.
Great views!
Fun course and staff. Was a nice afternoon. Course was in pretty good condition considering time of year. Would make a date to play it again.
Windy Tegavah
While there is no fancy clubhouse and they are just getting the practice area completed this is a good place to play. It was very windy when I played it and the course held its own. The fairways and greens were in great shape while the friendly workers added to the experience. You really need to play this course a few times to know how best to score.
A fun course to play
Great course even in extreme windy conditions! The course became tougher but remained payable.I like the changes to the clubhouse.Staff was very friendly.
Nice Course and Value!
Came to Scottsdale, AZ on vacation and to play golf. Got this recommendation to play. Now I wanted to play the nicest courses while I could. I was not disappointed in this course. Just a nice drive to the site, you could see that the place is still in the development stage, no doubt from our last fiscal debacle in 2007-2011 with only trailer clubhouse and facilities. The area has lots of lots to build but no houses. As a broker myself, I know this will eventually be a very nice development. Anyways, I was concerned because the course appeared to have a lot of natural vegetation and waste areas in front of the tee boxes but it was rarely a factor, even for my 15 index. The course was in great condition, very pleasing to the eye with the quintisential desert golf ambiance I wanted and got! This is a challenging but fair golf course most players would enjoy. I had the best weather at about 85-90 degrees, nice cool breeze on a clear blue sky day in May before the real heat shows up. The pace of play was good, golfers let me play through, and the people here are very hospitable. I ended up playing 36 holes as the first round was so pleasant, and the locals and local knowledge were great. The service here is great for all of the staff from front desk to starter to cart girl to the guys cleaning the clubs. The range is spacious albeit Spartan, the cart paths are sometimes rustic (dirt!!!) but the place will likely shine when the whole development is completed. I hope the houses to be built don't get in the way of the golf and protect a spectacular view of the natural foliage and mountain views. If you like a challenging but fair course in a peaceful environment and a great value, this is a winner. I am looking forward to coming back in the future.
Great course with great views
as usual nice and friendly staff, nice course condition with difficult greens. Great view into the
Mountains. No homes make this course a beautiful
round in the desert. Strongly hope that this remains unchanged as long as possible. Be careful with the rates, it has been a better deal last year.
No houses!
Nice course. Good condition. Greens are huge. With recent wind in valley greens are hard and fast but roll true.
Fast and hard greens
Greens were hard to hold, as they were very fast. The weather was exceptionally windy and made the course even more difficult. Fairways were in excellent condition. Bunkers are too hard, as the sand in not very soft. Overall it was a great round of golf, notwithstanding the windy conditions.
Beautiful views
Beautiful to play. A tee box for everyone. My wife is a beginner and the forward tees make it very enjoyable for her. Plenty of course from the golds and the tips would be very challenging to any player. The course was in good shape. The greens were a little slow. It is on our list every time. Facilities are temporary and a bit lacking so bring your own drinks and snacks.
Course lacking in several ways
Initially played this course a few years ago when it first opened. Did not expect to return as it was in poor shape then. Only came back as it was a good deal. The course still has several problems - the course has either not grown in well or needs water. Their are large bald spots in the very hard fairways. The greens are in good shape but are difficult to read. There is no real clubhouse (just a semi-permanent pro shop with limited range of goods). The staff are friendly and helpful, but judging by how few players were on the course, I would be surprised to see them make a go of it in the long run. I can't see making the long drive out there again in the future.
Wonderful Course!
Wonderful vistas! Staff so very helpful! I would definitely recommend this course to anyone!!!
Well worth the money
Little ways out from Scottsdale but well worth the drive. The staff was so friendly, helpful and thoughtful. We played as a two-some as the course wasn't busy (probably due to Masters on TV). I can't say enough good things about the course. Booked it through Golf Now so we got a great deal as well.
good greens
pace of play was very slow that reduces your enjoyment
Pure Desert Style
The course is way out in the desert. This is a true desert style course with no real estate on any holes.
Lots of holes have washes that come into play in the middle of the fairways. Our play was a little slow at 4.5 hours with no obvious reason why. We did not see a marshall most of the round. Overall, I liked the course and would play it again.
Great Young course
Great for good to fair handicap
Friendly staff
Easy to find
