Verde River Golf & Social Club
About
Verde River Golf & Social Club (formerly known as Tegavah Golf Club and Vista Verde Golf Course) has a desert style layout that features panoramic views of Four Peaks, the Superstition Mountains, Weaver's Needle, and the Tonto National Forest. In addition to the scenery, the golf course also presents interesting challenges such as subtle contours and desert wasteland areas that guard the holes. The greens lead to generous landing areas that require precision and length. Although only one water hazard comes into play on one hole, there are several sand bunkers strategically situated throughout. Verde River Golf & Social Club offers five sets of teeboxes to offer suitable challenges for players of all skill levels and abilities.

Awesome VIews
One of the best courses in Arizona. The views are incredible and the golf is just as good.
Must play course
What a nice track. It was windy but even with that the course was a pleasure to play. Fairways are bigger than they seem from the tees and second shots into greens are very challenging. Make the drive and enjoy a round at this course.
Fun day on the course
I've played Vista Verde several times over the years and always enjoyed it. In the last several months the course has been bought by a new owner who is finally putting some money into it. In the last couple months they have built a temporary clubhouse and dining facility and they've paved the parking lot. The course has always been a hidden gem in the valley. A little out of the way but great value and if you get out early it's never been overly busy. Highly recommended.
Good experience
Good deal, scenic views and a enjoyable expierence for our group. Arizona target golf.
Love This Course
If you enjoy the mountain and desert experience in one course, this is the place to play. Beautiful views of the surrounding mountains (including Four Peaks), and holes that are carved from the desert. The course is in great condition and provides a nice challenge. With multiple sets of tees, you can challenge yourself as much or as little as you want; we played a Gold/Silver mix that put us at around 6350 yards. Weather conditions were perfect; the course I suspect always gets a little breeze due to the elevations. We teed off at 1:54pm and finished around 6:20, so the pace was fairly nice without much waiting. I really like this course (played it twice now) and would highly recommend it as being a true Arizona golf experience.
Great course, great value
The course facilities have had a much needed upgrade as well as new carts which were badly needed. The course is very well maintained although greens seem a little inconsistent. Overall and excellent course and excellent value
Great Course
I had been wanting to play this course for a while because I heard great things. I was very happy with my day there. The course has a good layout and was in great condition. The staff was friendly and helpful. I know they are in a transition mode with new management but it is still a great place to go play. I only hope that they don't build a ton of houses around the course because it is perfect right now with no houses in sight. I definitely will go back and play. I highly recommend this course.
Course is drying up
Nice layout but course is a little rough. Greens were a little slow. Could be very good if the course was in better shape.
Nice Desert Course
challenging layout with a lot of variety because of the different tees. Course was in good shape. Beautiful views of the mountains. The greens were running at a moderate speed. Cart girl came by only once between holes 2 and 18 and there is no clubhouse. We went for the golf and were not disappointed. Good value.
Great Price for Good Challange
Course has difficult and easier holes. A great view on every hole of the mountains! Conditions and staff were excellent!
Great Day
Overall pace was excellent, the course Marshall was very good and conditions were great
Slow greens medicure condition
Okay lay out. But dum off the tee. All fair ways end with a wash right around driving distance. And greens were absolutly painfully slow. Bunkers all had different sand and unkept. Over priced for the condition and location.
New investor
A new investor put some money into the course and upgraded the facilities a bit. Course is in very good shape, new sand in the bunkers and the greens rolled great. unfortunately, 5 hour round due to cart path only (big storm), but overall very good value. I would recommend.
Fast Golf!!
Other reviewers did a good job of warning me about the sparse amenities but it is still strange to see a podium for tee times in the middle of a horse corral. Our foursome just played Vista Verde for the first time and our experience was mixed. The course layout is terrific with a wide variety of hole designs. Considering the course was challenging I was surprised that the greens were extremely slow. Other than that, no complaints about the course or the previously advertised facilities. My only complaint would be that our group was warned about slow play for the first time in our 20 years of golf trips to Phoenix. We were a full hole ahead of the group behind us by hole # 4 but still got a stern warning. To the marshall's credit he did return later and thank us for playing faster but who needs extra pressure to play fast when you're not causing an issue. Perhaps they are targeting those who want to play at a course which can guarantee a fast round. That may work for them as a business model but our group won't be back to find out.
Great course but no clubhouse
The course itself is great, but they haven't yet built a clubhouse which is the only negative I could find. The scenery in the desert was spectacular
Great Value
We played Vista Verde in the peak season and it was a great value compared to other courses in the area. The course is very playable for all levels. The course was in great shape. The greens were inconsistent in their hardness. Some greens you could stick a nine iron shot and other greens it would bounce without a ball mark. The traps were also inconsistent....some fluffy and some were harder. Other than that, nice course in a beautiful setting.
I would say this course is a tier below Troon, Grey Hawk, and TPC but was half the price and a quality course.
Beautiful Views but.....
Played 3 years ago and thought I would give it another shot. Not much has changed, no clubhouse, carts are poor quality, practice greens terrible and of no comparison to course greens. Way too expensive for the quality of the course and no amenities. Won't be going back.
Hidden gem
Played here in the past and can remember conditions being better. Some construction going on on the property which may have something to do with course maintenance. Fairways, greens and tee boxes are in great shape. Some very challenging holes with generous fairways and fast tricky greens. A clubhouse and completing unfinished cartpaths would attract more golfers to this hidden gem. Maybe that's a bad thing?
Above average Course
We had a great time on this scenic and challenging course. It's worth the drive to Rio Verde.
