Good but hard.
I had a great day. Had fun but coarse is a challenge. I’ll go back when my game gets better.
Having fun in the foothills
Greens were in somewhat good shape fairways need some water were brown and grassless in a lot of places.
Very Dry Course
Been going here twice a year prior to the Talladega Race. The condition of the course wasn’t as good as in past years. Very dried out course and many tee boxes had no grass.
Hidden Gem
I don’t normally take the time to do reviews but I feel like this course deserves it! Tucked in the Talladega National forest right off of I 20 resides a beautiful course unknown to many golfers I’ve shared. Friendly staff, fast fairways and greens are solid as well. Will come back again with golf buddies. 10/10 recommend
Work trip
While on a trip for work, we decided to try to get a round in before some really nasty weather rolled in. This was the first time I’ve played in Alabama, so I was unsure what to expect. The course was wet from recent rain, so we had to stay on the cart paths. The grass was all dormant and therefore brown, which if you play up north in the summer, brown grass means it’s as hard as a rock. Not the case in Alabama in the winter! Even though they were brown, the fairways were exactly what you would expect on a nice course. The greens themselves looks like they were recently painted and had a deep green color. They were in outstanding condition. I didn’t see any ball marks on the greens. The course layout was a little bit of everything. Elevation changes, water, sand, etc. I could see myself making a trip in a future winter to come back and play this course. Well worth the drive.
Signage/Yardage
One of my favorite courses. However, one BIG, but easy fix, would be better yardage markers on the course. Every hole needs a 150 stake (minimum) and a 100Yd plate would be nice as well. Phone reception is terrible so using on-line GPS is next to worthless.
With that said, everything else is 5 stars.
First class course
Beautiful mountain views abound on this impeccably presented layout. Bring your a game or just enjoy the course anyway. New greens are just going to get better this spring.
Excellent course
Only thing I can complain about is I had a 8am tee time which I believe was the 1st available but I had a foursome, all in individual carts ahead of me that never even thought it might be a good idea to let this single play through that is waiting on us at every tee box. I feel a Marshall would have remedied that. They weren’t slow but there was 4 of them with no one ahead. Other than that I had an awesome round and will try and get back to Anniston to play here again. The guy in the pro shop was awesome and so were the guys working the course.
Awesome!
Awesome course!
Few bad spots around outside of greens
Love the layout. Beautiful holes with tons of elevation change. 1st cut of rough is brutal. Must keep it in fairway to save par.
Good Course
A group of us played Cider Ridge on Tuesday, September 13. The course has a lot of elevation change and requires careful club selection. The greens have recently been renovated with new grass and have not completely grown in. We enjoyed the course and recommend the course if you are in the Oxford area.
