Deer Valley Golf Course in Hummelstown boasts one of the most affordable rounds you'll find in the Hershey/Harrisburg area. Since opening in 2005, more than 850 trees have been added and it has matured into a course favored by both visitors and locals. The layout features large, elevated greens and massive multi-tiered tees. From the golf course's peaks, the views stretch all the way to Hershey and the Blue Mountains. The winding layout twists and turns, doglegging left and right. It's a challenging layout round despite the absence of sand bunkers. There is however, thick rough and a number of grass bunkers to watch out for. Water only makes a brief appearance. Deer Valley Golf Course isn't overly challenging but for a fun and fair test, it's an affordable option that also offers some beautiful scenery.

Player etiquette was poor
I ended up with one of my best rounds but the day was dominated by an idiotic 4-some behind us that hit into us 4 of the first 8 holes. Including the 1st hole where one of them drove the green while we were putting. This person avoided us as he approached the green. Not so much as a simple apology. We picked up each of their tee shots on holes 7 and 8 as their balls rolled past us. They approached us on the 9th tee and asked for their balls back. We had words and returned their balls. One of the guys was a young fool. The others were reasonable. We weren’t slow. Every hole had virtually three groups, no one was going anywhere and these guys were obviously big hitters. I won’t recommend or play this course on the weekend again. This group settled down the rest of the way until the 17th where the young fool hit his drive through the green as we were putting. Not a happy, or relaxing round of golf.

Gem
This is the only course I’ve ever played which has no sand. It has bunkers but they are all grass. The greens are fast and true. The views are magnificent and it’s a joy to play. I dry an hour and twenty minutes to play this course.

Nice Golf Facility
Only complaint is this course gets very busy and the pace is a little slow. It would be nice if the would manage the pace. Great time a short course and great for the younger and older players.

Starter was extremely rude
Golf carts were in poor shape

Pace of play was slow. After constantly waiting for the group in front of us the Ranger asked us to pick up the pace!!!

Great course, many opportunities to score well. Some challenging par 3's. Tee boxes to greens well maintained.

Fun course
Good course for 55+ to play. A few t-boxes are a bit short for Gold tees, but others are pretty close to the whites; starter/course ranger is friendly-tries to keep things moving at a good pace. Wasn’t overly crowded on a weekday
