Quail Ridge Golf Club sprawls across 300 acres of rolling hills just east of Grand Rapids. The expansive course provides plenty of room on each hole. Raymond Hearn, a Michigan native, designed the unique layout, seamlessly combining links-style holes and tree-lined holes for variety. The golf course is challenging with strategically placed bunkers and elevation changes coming into play but they are balanced by more player-friendly elements including generous fairways and ample landing areas. Water doesn't have a particularly prominent role but the high fescue that borders the fairways offer plenty of challenges. Quail Ridge Golf Club's greens are large and undulating, with one of the best examples being on the 17th. The green on this par 3 has two tiers that differ dramatically in elevation and neither tier is very visible from the tee, making pin placement extremely important.

One of the Better Public Courses in Grand Rapids Michigan

Fairways are in great shape, bunkers are for the most part well maintained, the greens are well maintained but a little beat up (combination of the winter and people not repairing their ball marks). The only glaring issue is that their cart paths are in rough shape. Great staff, good food, nice facilities.

Bring all your putting skills

Quail Ridge is a really great place to play because not only is the course maintained very well, the greens are extremely changeling but very very fair: They are fast. hard, and very consistent from hole to hole. Every green has slope and undulations so ball position is very important when approaching the green. The tees are set up so that every skill level has a fair shot at shooting a good score and having a fun day.

Nice, open course

The course has great open fairways that are in great shape and really make for a good round. The greens are very quick and quite a challenge. I bought this round off golfnow and although the course was very nice, I wouldn't pay the full $50 rate they typically charge for 18 and a cart. Oh and there were no ball washers when I went....

Fun course

The full kitchen wasn't open so that was the biggest downfall. Otherwise course was in good shape for the beginning of the season. Greens were quick as well. Always a fun course to play.

Great Greens.

This is one of my favorite courses to play. Its a great layout set among some beautiful scenery. Its a challenging course when the greens are in average condition but last year they really worked on their greens and have continued the job this year. The greens aren't overly firm and will hold your shot but they are extremely fast already and rolling true. They are probably rolling 12-13 on the stimp meter on its only April. Wait till summer when the greens really firm up then this course will be extremely challenging. But even with that Quail Ridge is a must play for all skill levels. One of the best layouts in West Mi.

No rain check

We booked our tee time through Golf Now and when it began to rain the course would not give a rain check for our second nine. I have not had this experience at any of the other courses I booked online. We were not asking for a refund just a rain check to play this nine another time.

Great course, some very nice holes, well worth the money.

Course was in good shape for this time of year. Faiways were recently aerated so they were a little choppy, hence winter rules.lots of work going on, but that must be done. Great track.

Beautiful Course

Quail Ridge is a favorite course of mine. Very well maintained and beautiful scenery. Challenging par 5's but playable by all levels. Huge multi-level greens that are usually lighting fast. If you like to use all the clubs in your bag during a round, this place will surely make you do that. Always a great 18. Pace of play is sometimes a little slow though. Only complaint.

A bit of a hidden gem in Grand Rapids.

I love this course, especially for the value compared with comparable, higher-priced courses like Thornapple Pointe. 5 sets of tees to give a challenge to any handicapper, smooth fairways, and large undulating greens that roll true and with reasonable speed. Pin placements can make this a very challenging course, and you are going to use every club in your bag with dog legs and water aplenty.

This course is more challenge than a 14-18 handicapper needs.

Greens were so hard and fast with pin placements ridiculous
that the average player had very little chance of enjoying their round. For a US open qualifier, I doubt anyone would break par
with those green conditions.

Great Venue...if played on day w/o irration of greens

Very nice and scenic course. Challenging for the first time player with good yardage marks in fairways. Even more challenging was the variation of green speeds from hole to hole. The course picked a aeriation sequence that resulted in us playing differing speeds on almost every other hole.

I'd play it again, though.

Northern Michigan Feel

Great layout. The course has generous fairways and very large greens. Some of the greens had recently been punched and sanded, but that's to be expected after a busy and hot stretch of summer. The course was wet from an overnight rain, but it appeared to drain well considering. The most challenging facet of this course is the greens. While greens in regulation is not particularly difficult, being sure you are on the right side of the hole is paramount. Nice track!
