Great Value
I absolutely love this course. I play to a 7 handicap, and wasn't thrilled with how short of a course it was beforehand, however once standing on the tee boxes I realized that there is a premium for accuracy. Plenty of risk reward opportunities for the long ball hitters. The greens also held as well as any greens I've personally ever played. I was able to zip the ball back (which I never really do) quite regularly. Plenty of picturesque holes that you'll remember for quite some time.
Great course
This course is definitely challenging your first time around, yet the course condition was so unmatched I had no problem navigating from even my worst shots. The greens are small so you have to be on point, but if you can control the ball, they're extremely responsive! I loved this course and I will be back!
hickory creek
it was a nice course that I did not know was their I will try to make it back some time ( in good weather I hope).
Nice course
A fun round. Shorter front side followed by a longer, more challenging back nine lets you warm up as you go along. Some drainage issues when we played were the only real problem we saw with the course.
awesome course
Great time, teed off at 5.15 pm. got 18 done in 2 and 1/2 hour's for a twosome the staff is always real nice
Perfect course
Excellent conditions and grounds from start to finish
Fun course, need to shape shots, though!
Overall the course played a bit longer than usual I would think due to moderate rain, but what a fun course! We started on the back nine and practically every hole dealt with water and trees, which made it rather challenging for such a small course, yardage -wise. Our foursome rode in carts and this would be a rather difficult course to walk due to quite a bit of space in between holes, not to mention the hilly conditions. You need to use course management wisely and the putting is fairly fast and the breaks are numerous, making for some challenging putts. The cart paths are being upgraded and the Chicago Dog combined with an Angry Orchard went down well at the turn!
Needs a lot of work for the price
Fairways were sparse , bunkers were hard with no sand ,lots of debris in rough , leaves, branches
Great Day
Haven't played this course in many years. Was impressed with the course. Forgot how nice it was and the price was about the same as other local courses. Will play again soon.
Great Course
Great Course and the greens were some of the quickest greens I've played on all year. Course was in great shape.
Nice course
Good course condition plays a little slow, very scenic with some challenging greens. Fun to play with my sons! Pro shop man was very help full!
Good value
Really good value for the price. Pace of play was a little slow and the course wasn't marked very well. But overall, the course was in great shape and the price was right.
Solid, well maintained course, that is a good value.
Well conditioned course with literally no problem with leaves as compared to other courses at this time of year. An easy, fun, & enjoyable round of golf!!
bring plenty of balls
Course was in great shape.greens were fast. Scores were ha ha high.
There is a lot of risk/reward on this course!
Hickory Creek provides a fair amount of challenge because there is a good dealt of risk/reward throughout this course. If you can make a solid second shot versus the layup you have great chances for birdies. I like the fairways and the layout of the course, all the holes are different. Most of the greens are a good size but difficult to read. Some are sloped but not too severely. Overall, I’d say a fun afternoon!
Fun In Spite of Management
Hickory Creek has a nice variety of holes, and for that reason alone I recommend the course. The regular prices are steep, but if you find a time you can make it using GolfNow it is reasonable enough.
Management here could use a change in my opinion...nearly every time I golf here I find that the majority of the staff is rude in one way or another. I always try to avoid interacting with anyone here aside from checking in at the clubhouse. You almost always get this vibe as if you're an outsider playing on a private course (it's not THAT nice).
A trip to Hickory Creek starts off with the guy behind the counter, who is typically grumpy and, when feelin social, will give you some overstated, eye-roll inducing diatribe about the course rules (cart path only on certain days, stay away from the greens in your cart...you know the typical run-down you might give someone who is new to the game).
The first two holes are basic, and very forgiving, a nice way to start out. The third hole, in my opinion, is the best on the course...tougher, yet pretty. As you reach the 4th and 5th you are usually greeted by the first of what is sometimes many old men strategically placed on the course just sitting there, trying to govern your fun for the day. They'll yell at you for the most obscure of things, talking too loudly, driving through a dried up "creek bed", not coordinating your pants and shoes (not really, but you get the point).
Anyway, I could walk you through an entire round here and the sorts of staff and rude/disruptive comments they might make to you while not contributing anything positive to the experience (a joke, improving the pace of play which can be very slow here when busy, etc.), but I won't. What I will say is that this course can be easy, or it can be tough...depending on how your hitting 'em on any given day (duh? right!). But that's what I enjoy about playing here, if you're playing well, you can score very well; if not, there's enough water and woods to lose a couple sleeves. Overall, I recommend it, but tread lightly when dealing with employees here or just shrug them off and enjoy your day in spite of them.
Enjoy every hole on the course...
Hickory Creek is a hidden gem in Canton. I will play there again.
