Sanctuary Lake Golf Course

Course in need of a lot of attention, potholes and areas under repair in many areas. Golfers do not respect course and have torn it up as bad as anyI have seen, including deliberate destruction.

An oasis in the middle of a city. Troy between big beaver and M 59 is one of the most densely populated business areas in all of Michigan. Yep I pulled into the course it was completely different feel! Maroon carts clean and well cared for pro shop, restaurant and grounds. A link style course with Rollinghills lots of character and well groomed layout with a mix of traps water and Heather. At one point we set up so high we could see the entire city , while the pace of play was crisp. Fairways were soft well groomed and a good shot took a beaver pelt all the greens no challenging are also well-kept but none of the city blights the other city courses have. I will be going back hope to see you there.

This course has went up 25% in cost this year. Its quite frustrating considering they haven't upgraded anything.

Simply taking advantage of the covid golf boom.

course was in good shape but no hot dogs at turn and sometimes the smell of methane gets to you a little bit

Course is over priced for the condition. I had a 10:50 tee time and told I was going to be paired with an 11:15 tee time…. I have no problem with being paired with others but when I show up early for my assigned time yet get told I’m going to play a half hour later then so? Not sure what’s going on, I know the course in on a landfill but could use some maintaining

Everything was great until the STARTER or Person who helps with Pace-of-Play was extremely rude to us. I was playing with two other guys and as we were buying snacks from the cart he yelled at us for slowing down play. We apologize as this was the first time someone said something and it wasn’t normal players but seemed to be kid league. The issue with this is that they don’t Tee off at the standard tees but close to 100 yards out which makes them play very fast on our heels. As the gentleman (wearing a blue shirt) continued to yell at us i became very upset and unwelcome at the course. This same feeling was the mood of my other two families members to the point they stopped playing. It’s sad that such a nice day was ruined and i honestly felt, that as a black man, he was angry at more then our pace of play.

Didn't realize this course was built on an old landfill when booking. Especially for what the cost is. The smell was nauseating, and due to slow pace of play, you are stuck with it for excruciating amounts of time. Unfortunate, as this course has a fun set up, and is kept in excellent condition. Might be more bearable on a cooler day when the methane fumes aren't mixed in with 90F heat and high humidity. Range balls need washed, they were all covered in mud and had to be wiped before hitting as to not damage club faces.

Didn't realize the course was built on an old landfill. Didn't take long for the smell to make me nauseous. With the slow pace, had to choke on it extra long. It has a fun layout, but don't think I could handle another 5 hours in the heat with that smell.

Nice course. Beautiful layout. Amenities lacking - golf range balls should included.

Course has better than average greens but other than that.. the course is pretty boring.

Although it was raining and cart path only, the course was in great shape.

Good value for my time selected. Course continues it’s decline - no upkeep, grassless areas abound. Food was better than in past years. However, it amazes me that two municipal courses, close to each other, managed by same management company, same price, etc can be so different in maintenance, upkeep and level of play. Sylvan Glenn is first rate, well-maintained, excellent shape , great beauty and it’s sister, Sanctuary Lake is the opposite. However, I am still very happy to have two friendly, affordable municipal courses in our community. No other community has suc an amenity.
