Sanctuary Lake Golf Course

I've been playing SL for 20 years and seen all the changes.

They have increased the price recently to the point where it's not the value it once was.

Still, I would recommend this course as a fun place to play, just not as good a value as it used to be. It's a Troy city course and crazy busy now.

Course was in great condition. Staff was super friendly.

Every hole was a wait! Not worth it. Also not cheap. You are paying for location only. Not going back even though I live a mile away from there. They pack us in there like sardines. Also not cheap.

Fine course for what they charge. Very slow play and odd layout with having to cross fairways to get to some tees

The course is beautiful and it’s a fun layout. Some of the course was being fertilized but I’m ok with that this early in the season. However, when I got to the course and the starter said I was looking at a 5 hour round minimum. Turns out that round ended up being closer to 6 hours. When they know pace of play is over 4 hours, and is pushing 6 something needs to be done. At one point we had 4 groups on one tee box waiting to hit. This relaxed attitude toward a 5 and even 6 hour round will be the only reason I won’t go back to this course. Everything else was great, but 6 hours to play 18 holes is simply unacceptable

Nice course, but the pace of play is poor (overbooked). And lots of areas are pretty dried out/chewed up. It's a little pricey for what you get imo.

We paid $60 for 9 holes for a 3:24pm tee time only to arrive and find out we are playing behind a high school golf team. We waited 10 minutes at each hole. There was no pace of play behind these kids. Coaches should be better monitoring what the players are doing but more so, don’t sell tee times while these kids are playing. They are learning and we get it but, we don’t want to pay good more to sit and wait behind them.

I love the different elevation changes and tough greens

The area use to be a landfill that has since been repurposed. A wonderful job was done, however in places there is still pungent odors and gas leaking from the ground if you look in the puddles. The grounds crew does a wonderful job with the resources they have. The clay soil makes it hard to have perfect grass but they do an impressive job. There are times when prices are far too high for what the course is. When the rates rival those of Shepherds Hollow, anything above 60$ peak summer might not be the best value.

Be cautious of early tee times during the winter months. Occasionally they do not update the website until after your scheduled time if they are closing the course.

Took my money when I made the reservation but no one showed up to open the course . No phone call or email saying they not opening the course
