Forgot what number whole that was but I was the front 9. Photo submitted by Jasonrapp81 on 02/28/2021
great value for the price
Course conditions were good. Sand traps were rough (hadn't been raked in a long time) and the greens were slow and bumpy. But course was very playable.
A pleasant surprise...
I wish this course wasn't in the middle of nowhere. But, then the land would have cost twice as much. For the price the conditions are probably among the best in the area. Better than Lake Wales (and I hate to say that about a Tillinghast course). I opted to play here because, with all the rain we are having, my regular course, Cypresswood, has become a bog. Indian Lake was on 90 degree rule, Cypresswood was cartpaths only (and with good reason). I was concerned because, like so much of this part of Florida it's awfully flat and I wasn't sure how well the course would drain, but this is much drier than Cypresswood has been in the last couple of weeks. If it keeps raining, I may be back down in a few weeks.
Fun course to play
For a beginner this course had it all without too much difficulty. Only issue was a lot of fire ants around the course. Had to take relief to keep from standing in ant bed on edge of fairway and around bunkers by greens; otherwise, we enjoyed the course and look forward to playing again.
Great Course
I am a beginner and this course is wonderful for me in learning the game. Friendly staff and well-kept course and facilities.
Great for high handicapped or beginner.
The grass was mown, but full if weeds. Not much difference between the fairways and the tees and greens. The greens were really rough. A golf ball shouldn't bounce like a rubber ball on the greens. The back nine has no concrete cart paths, just dirt trails. Won't waste my time, or money, on this hackers course ever again.
poor servise
I arrived 1 hr prior to my tee time. I checked in, hit balls on range, and putted before by tee time. Finish about 30 min before my tee time. There was no teeing off so I as to gor early but the lady told me I had a two some and a four-sum ahead so I had to wight. I waited 20min before the four-sum got there and then tee off. I waited 10 more mins before by time with no one tee off. Poor tee management
Pleasantly Surprised
From NL Canada. Been playing this course 3-4 times per year over the last 8 yrs. It's always been ok but and not great. But a couple of years ago the greens started to look green but long and was ok for money spent. Just ok
This latest round was my first of 2024. They have started to slightly cut down the greens Still slow but sooo much more enjoyable. The tee boxes and fairways are great value for money spent
It's always difficult to read into what folks give as reviews. Is it the local guy upset, the unrealistic traveler or the course staff over promoting
I can tell you I would consider this latest round my best value for money spent at a Fl course in the area the past 5 years
For the first time I actually started looking at the course and it's a fun play. Water yes, but strategic and not massive drives or irons to avoid. Nicely placed bunkers. Small and cared for. You feel like you wanna take em after you play from them. Dog legs
To the course. Keep up your efforts. A couple of greens need work but you can sense they have a plan
April 14th
Grass conditions surrounding the greens was poor. A lot of dirt and sand spots. I believe grass is being cut too short in this area therefore its starting to dry up and die. Sand traps also need more attention. Some edges of the traps are being taken over by weeds and runners of grass.
Good layout - slow greens
The course is in very good shape and it is a good layout. Not sure why the greens were painfully slow.
Indian Lake Estates
You can tell this place once the place to play. All in all the course was in good shape and I enjoyed my round. The down side the course is that there is no drink cart and the pro shop was less than desirable, not much to offer.
