Best layout in Youngstown ohio area
Kennnsington golf course is the very best course layout in northesst ohio..the greens are huge and very undulating giving you a 65 ft, putt. They used a different aeriation system this fall leaving the green hardly disturbed at all.. The course drains pretty well except lower areas of some rolling fairways. All in all it’s still my favorite course of all I play, Plus they have a great club house bar and resturant.
Need a little work on the greens
KENNSINGTON IS ONE OF THE BEST LAYOUTS IN NORTHEAST OHIO IN MY OPINION! FAIRWAYS ARE IN PREETY GOOD SHAPE. WHILE THE GREENS ARE NICE AND BIG THE GOLFERS THAT PLAY THERE DON”T KNOW HOW TO REPAIR THEIR BALL MARKS . PAYIN FULL PRICE WOULD KEEP ME FROM PLAYING IT BUT THE HOT DEALS MAKE IT A PRETTY GOOD DEAL.
Enjoyed the round and course was in good shape
Excellent course hope have a outing there in a couple of weeks.
.
My favorite course to play in Trumbull/ Mahoning County. Always in great shape and today was no exception. 4hr 20 minute round from the Black Tees.
Great Day for Golf
Kennsington is about 1 hour drive from my town but, it's worth the time/gas to play.
Getting better every year.
Congrats to the course staff. Place looks good. This is a challenging course so bring plenty of balls and a lot of energy. If you find yourself out of balls or energy you can replenish yourself at the excellent pro shop and snack shop.
Love the electric carts with the GPS. Although some holes like 15 and 16 become unreachable by satellite signal for some strange reason. There are 5 par 3’s on this course so your chance at greenies is great. We played an early morning round and early morning rounds always seem to make the course play longer. I played the course the next day in the afternoon and the ball really takes advantage of the well trimmed fairways. There’s plenty of water, sand bunkers, and “do not enter” ravines on the course so pick a target and stay committed.
This course gets plenty of play. You may find yourself waiting on some holes. Just be patient, it’ll be worth it. Please take time to repair divots and ball marks. No one can get mad at a person that takes care of the course. Even when there’s slow play.
Great day just hot
Course was in great condition. Greens quick and well maintained. Was a extremely hot day. No water on course to drink and no cart girl so that was only downside to the round. Will be back again.
April play
Have played course 4-5 times prior. Overall condition of course was not as good as usual due to winter season. Greens were not in that good of condition due to aeration of greens in December. Definitely will play course in summer.
Early season ?
Greens were poor. Showed signs of aeration which would seem to be unusual for this time of year. Play was backed up on the first tee but moved nicely. It’s a nice course but pricey given the conditions of the greens.
Wish I lived closer than an hour away
I've left a few reviews here already, but once again this course is excellent. I played March 31, so while most courses were still closed up, Kennsington was open. The greens were incredibly slow, and still bumpy, but will let it slide because of the season. You cant go wrong here especially once the greens get up to speed. Only problems here are sometimes slow play due to the moderate difficulty. The course layout varies, and offers challenges, but it seems I keep getting behind groups here playing 2 extra sets of tees than they should. If you are hitting three duck hooks off every tee to get something in play, then hitting your next shot from the red tees, move up a set or two and quicken the pace...
Excellent course
For March, the conditions here were about as good as you could expect, course was not wet even though most courses are soaked and still closed. Greens were slow, with plenty of aerating holes still present, but its March.
I really like the layout here, it varies and offers variety of tests. A few groups were in front of us were all playing the longer sets of tees, and consequently I saw a bit of struggling. Its early in year, so we played the silver (between white and blue), and played well, and got to use a lot of different irons and see different yardages instead of having to go with hybrids and longer clubs on every second shot. I wish this course was about 20 minutes closer, I would go there all the time.
Someday maybe I will visit the nice bar/restaurant while here, or the range. Finally, there is a hotel right in front of the clubhouse, so it would be a good place to stay and play some rounds.
Slow Play Deters From Great Course
Great layout. Unfortunately every time I play there are never any Staff to speed up play. This is a hard course and a lot of people play tees that are too long for them. It would be a lot more enjoyable if they would monitor the carts for speed of play and the course would make more money because they would turn more people. Great course for a reasonable cost.
Was not expecting a resort like course in the Youngstown area. GOLFADVISOR course name only has 1 N also.
Overall, the course gives you a lot to think about on tee shots, with tee boxes that make you think about where to play ball or how much to take on, and with plenty of bunkers out there. However, the hardest shot was the second into the green. Conditions were good for the season, all of the water areas around many holes were empty now due to lack of rain. The greens however were wet, and had a lot of ball marks, and were somewhat bumpy, which was surprising based on the overall conditions. I will give them a pass, and after playing Sunday 9/24 already am scheduled to return. It is worth the 1 hour drive. The only problem I had was the GPS units did not show us anything, maybe it was a malfunction, but the only thing visible was our cart location on the entire course, I would have expected it to show distance to other carts, etc.
Tough Day
I signed my son, brother-in-law, and myself to play Saturday afternoon. We assumed that it would be a good time for a solid round. We couldn't have been more wrong. We have never played where the pace of play was so slow! We were also a little disappointed in the conditions - especially the greens. We found out that we were behind an outing where some fellas were "ignorantly slow". The staff offered a rain check but we stubbornly stuck it out.
Your are very correct. Kennsington is a great track to play. It's very challenging and from what I have seen a majority of the players are on the wrong tee boxes. It seems to be more troublesome later in the round. Plan for a 5 hour round on the weekend.
