Solitude Links Golf Course & Banquet Center
About
Solitude Links Golf Course & Banquet Center in Kimball is one of southeastern Michigan’s premier courses. Golfers from the Detroit metropolitan area and Port Huron and even as far as London in Ontario, Canada flock to the golf course. The layout is spread across gently rolling terrain with both woodlands and wetlands, providing a diverse mix of holes. The greens are large and fast with some mild undulation, some are even ridged or double-tiered, but good shots will be rewarded with level putting surfaces. The tricky opening hole is unique in that there are two greens, which makes it so that it can be played as a par 4 or a more daunting par 5 that plays over water. The challenging island green makes Solitude Links' par-4 eighth another memorable hole. Though you may get a break from the water on the back nine, at least on four holes, sand then becomes a more prominent hazard.

Tough layout. Bring extra balls.
Hardest hole is the first one so come prepared. Rest of the front 9 was fun. Back 9 was weird since rangers were out, yet there was a 6-some slowing down EVERYONE. One tee box had 4 groups and a group on the fairway. Other than that, decent round.
So many bridges...
Great vibe here at Solitude Links, the clubhouse and the 1st tee, 10th tee, 9th green, putting greens, gazebo and deck I'm sure when it's not covid time are bumping and a lot of fun. Today on the other hand when we played it was quiet, early and peaceful. We played before all the amenities could be used but it was a great day.
9 holes of very target style golf. I think I hit driver 4 times from the blue tees on the front 9 and I remember one of them looking back and shouldn't have. It's long iron and 160-180 into the green as there is water everywhere. If you are scared of playing from 6700 yards or more this would be a good course to test it out as the forward tees bring in a ton more trouble if you can hit it 220-260 off the tee or more.
I was amazed at how many bridges this place had, at least 1 bridge per hole and on the 2nd or 3rd hole I remember seeing a bridge to an island w/ nothing on it. Just an embarrassment of richness on the bridges, something different for sure. Also amazed the 1st hole is a choose your own adventure. Par 4 or par 5 you pick the flag which is kind of cool and odd but mostly cool and different.
Conditions were good and actually very wet so they must be pumping the irrigation hard, long heather grass was long and penal which is how you want it.
I'd play it again for sure and interested to see if the back has as many bridges, that could be an all time bridge count per 18 holes. Fun round of golf in the AM on a perfect weather holiday.
Bummer
Give the greenskeeper a raise, but the Starter should be summarily executed.
I've NEVER played a course that was in this good of shape, with tee-times so mismanaged.
If the parking lot is empty, by all means, this track is great; but they have tee-times spaced in 6 minute (you read that right) intervals.
If pace of play was even average, I'd give the track 4.5 stars, but this is atrocious.
Paddy566, we appreciate your review, even though we don't agree. We would appreciate if you don't give false or misleading information. Our tee times ARE NOT 6 minute intervals. There is only one course in the world I know that has a 6 minute interval. Our tee times are 9 minutes apart and can be easily verified when you see our available tee times. Our course normal pace of play on busy weekends is 4 1/2 to 5 hours. Mostly because there is water on 14 holes and our high rough. Sad you feel you need to leave a 2-star review because of pace of play which most of the time is out of our control if there is a group which doesn't follow are attempts to speed them up.
This course is very challenging
My son and I do a Father’s Day round every year.We really enjoyed this course because it is well taken care of and challenging. The hole that has always been my Nemesis is the first hole and this year I beat it..I can have a sleep full night tonight.
PGA quality
By far the nicest course in the area maybe even the lower half of the state. Fairways have good bounce and roll, greens are like a pool table. Very challenging course and very well maintained. The sandtraps could use a little fluffing but stay out of them and no worries! Definatley my go-to for golf I love this place!
WOW!
Absolutely beautiful course! 5 stars for the layout and challenge, the bunkers needed some love but everything else was in fantastic condition!
Bring your A game!
Good Time
It was a good time out there if you don’t have a woman with you that has to go to the bathroom in the woods because you lock the bathrooms and no cart girl bringing refreshments but at the turn you can buy a $5 hot dog but it was great weather, good time
uncaring and unresponsive staff
I have golfed here with many of my friends several times in the past. I will not golf here again and encourage my friends to not do so either. I purchased some passes from group golfer for myself and several friends but unfortunately they expired on may 15. Due to covid 19 the courses never open for me to use and when I asked for an extension I was told basically no I could use only the money I paid for them off the rack rate. (which is always the highest price) Every other business has made allowances for covid but not this one. Not even an extension due to no fault of my own.I called management 3 days in a row several times and never even received a call back. Not a very good way to encourage return business.
Awesome Course
This course has a great lay out that is in unbelievable condition. Some holes can be really challenging to score well on and some holes are real gettable. Super nice pro shop and club house. They also have really nice carts with gps on them. With out question the nicest course in the area.
Great course but awful pace of play
This course is great for the money. Greens are in good shape and it’s overall taken care of really nicely. Some of the holes are questionable as far as layout but it’s certainly a challenging course. I can easily say it’s the slowest course I’ve ever played. A little over 5 hours for 18 holes. Didn’t tee off until about 20-30 minutes after our actual tee time. If you don’t have all day, i wouldn’t play here. Otherwise bring a 24 pack, because your going to need it.
Amazing
The price paid for this golf course is unreal, the course is in amazing shape and just has all around amazing views and holes. One of the best courses I’ve played in Michigan
Excellent fairways & Greens
Very nice course with amazing fairway conditions and greens are true, in great shape except Hole #1..Bad green..Excellent Golf carts with a GPS at your fingertips!! The ball cleaner was very dirty on the cart it served me no helpful use..I could of used it many many times. Staff was nice but you closed the Kitchen down early on a Sat?? Tried to order about 5pm?? Hopefully next time the Ball cleaner on the Cart is fresh with clean water in it to clean my golf ball and Irons. Beautiful course Recommended!!!!
Claypool89, our #1 green is in the process of being expanded to make it larger. This is why the front of the green looks bad as we need to slowly cut the grass shorter during the season for it to adjust to the low height. The original shape green is in just the same amazing shape as the rest of them. After your review we went through and cleaned all the ball/club washers on each cart. Sorry about the kitchen closing at 5pm, but with our weddings upstairs and very few golfers coming in to eat, we do close at 5pm.
Glad you enjoyed the course, not sure 3-star reflects the positive comments, we will try harder to earn a better rating on your next visit.
Hello, can you please supply additional information. What day and time was your tee time? We would like to see what exactly happened so we can fix the slow play issues.
Thank you so much.
