Solitude Links Golf Course & Banquet Center
About
Solitude Links Golf Course & Banquet Center in Kimball is one of southeastern Michigan’s premier courses. Golfers from the Detroit metropolitan area and Port Huron and even as far as London in Ontario, Canada flock to the golf course. The layout is spread across gently rolling terrain with both woodlands and wetlands, providing a diverse mix of holes. The greens are large and fast with some mild undulation, some are even ridged or double-tiered, but good shots will be rewarded with level putting surfaces. The tricky opening hole is unique in that there are two greens, which makes it so that it can be played as a par 4 or a more daunting par 5 that plays over water. The challenging island green makes Solitude Links' par-4 eighth another memorable hole. Though you may get a break from the water on the back nine, at least on four holes, sand then becomes a more prominent hazard.

Early Season Round
Great golf course. They are doing a lot of things right. Bunkers have improved, and greens will be great. They were aerating them during our two rounds, too bad that we could not play to all 18 greens each day, however, the work has to get done. Will be back soon.
Great facility
Greatly enjoyed playing this course, great staff and facility. We make sure we play at least 4 rounds a year. We live a couple of hours away, but the trip is worth the time.
Great condition
Fairways and greens excellent condition. Beautiful layout and extremely challenging. This course isn't really for high handicappers.
Only negative is there is lots of small stones in the sand traps.
Too slow to finish round
Loved the property and layout of course. I played from the tips and there were quite a few long carries to greens or fairways. Lots of water and some tight fairways to challenge any golfer.as well as many different tee blocks to choose from.
The staff wasn't friendly at all which we felt was unfortunate.
The killer for this course was the pace of play. It was one of the worst we've ever experienced! It was so bad the we had to leave after the fourteenth hole as we were on track for a six hour round of golf. Open holes in front of the group ahead of us but we didn't get any help for the marshals.
Solidude Links
Nice course. Above our skill level. But it was the one place we could get a rate on a holiday weekend that fit our schedule. They were great to work with, they let us change our tee time and keep the rate we were quoted when we found out one of our golfers that was coming from Ohio was delayed. Would golf there again.
well maintained
The first hole is very intimidating. I bailed out and went to the alternate green as at 72 I can no longer hit it that far across the water. I enjoyed it but there is a little too much water for my taste
Very Challenging
I love playing this course. It is very challenging for a golfer my level, but I still enjoy the course. Every hole requires an accurate shot. All but one par 3 is 200+/- yards. The par 5's have challenging tee shots. All the greens were fair and in great condition. Keep the ProV1's in the bag or you may spend more mpney on lost balls than you do for the round of golf.
Very good condition
Greens and fairways in great shape, greens roll true but a little slow, bunkers need new sand, lot of rocks and hard packed sand. Great layout, GPS in carts good feature however had a group of twelve and 4 carts GPS ran out of power before ninth hole
Beautiful course and plenty of water
One of the best courses I've played. I will definitely be back. Love the space so you're not hitting people or being hit by wayward shots. Lots of water that is the biggest challenge of the course. Bunkers were not really a problem for me, but there was plenty of them. A few holes were a little too challenging for me, but that makes me want to conquer them next time I come back. Greens, fairways, and tee boxes were all well taken care of. The carts have GPS. It's a bit of a hike for me to get to this place, but I booked another round before I left the parking lot.
Lot of water
If you play this coarse bring a bag of balls because hazards are everywhere, challenging but fair so just hit them straight. There are a couple things I didn't like all but one par 3 is around 200 which I don't like and sometimes you have to walk a long way to get your ball then get your distance and the hit but that could be because the coarse was wet, I don't know. All around I will play this coarse again and recommend it to my friends.
Challenging but fun
Course is challenging with plenty of water to deal with. There are a couple of quirks with the layout but for the most part the holes are interesting and offer a variety of challenges using every club in the bag. Conditions were very good though the greens were a little slower than expected. Overall a great value for the $, especially when using a Golf Now hot deal.
Hidden Gem of a Course
I'm disappointed that I haven't played this course until now! WOW! Just beautiful!!! Lots of water, however, not too difficult! I can't say enough about this new favorite of mine.
Great experience for a beginner
Found a great deal on Golf Now and decided to give the course a try. The day was overcast with a few sprinkles & somewhat windy. I am a beginner and a rather inconsistent player. Upon our arrival (1 hr early) we asked if we had time to grab a bite. I am very self-conscious of players waiting behind me. The pro shop attendant was very nice. He and another gentleman told us we had plenty of time. Even after I told him I was a slow player, he told us that the course wasn't busy until later and there'd be no issue with time. He even gave us a coupon for 25% off food and drinks to use immediately. The bartender was as friendly and helpful with lunch recommendations. (Delicious fish n chips & burger). We saw several employees maintaining the grounds throughout play. The bathrooms on the course (important to me) were clean and well-placed. The water hazards on the course were challenging for me, but the course (ball drop) is very well marked and I would feel comfortable coming back and navigating it by myself. They have great golf specials and I hope to be back for Ladies Mondays all season!
solitude "lakes"
really nice course, kind of cool and windy when we played lots of water, nice condition, only negative thing I can say is the guy in the clubhouse accidently? forgot to give me five bucks back when I bought a logo ball and paid with a ten.nice place
The course was in very good condition and the pace of play was perfect. I agree with another comment on the pro shop guy being unfriendly. The same was true last year.
Waitress was efficient and friendly.
Hello bbracken,
Can you please let us know who the unfriendly pro shop guy was that helped you today? Was this the same person as last year?
I am so sorry, we will address the pro shop issue right away.
Hello, we have added new sand since your visit. We also run a beach cleaning machine each year to clean out the stones. We are trying to re-wire the GPS units a different way so they will make it through every round. Thanks for the feedback.
