Solitude Links Golf Course & Banquet Center
About
Solitude Links Golf Course & Banquet Center in Kimball is one of southeastern Michigan’s premier courses. Golfers from the Detroit metropolitan area and Port Huron and even as far as London in Ontario, Canada flock to the golf course. The layout is spread across gently rolling terrain with both woodlands and wetlands, providing a diverse mix of holes. The greens are large and fast with some mild undulation, some are even ridged or double-tiered, but good shots will be rewarded with level putting surfaces. The tricky opening hole is unique in that there are two greens, which makes it so that it can be played as a par 4 or a more daunting par 5 that plays over water. The challenging island green makes Solitude Links' par-4 eighth another memorable hole. Though you may get a break from the water on the back nine, at least on four holes, sand then becomes a more prominent hazard.

Beautiful course and plenty of water
One of the best courses I've played. I will definitely be back. Love the space so you're not hitting people or being hit by wayward shots. Lots of water that is the biggest challenge of the course. Bunkers were not really a problem for me, but there was plenty of them. A few holes were a little too challenging for me, but that makes me want to conquer them next time I come back. Greens, fairways, and tee boxes were all well taken care of. The carts have GPS. It's a bit of a hike for me to get to this place, but I booked another round before I left the parking lot.
Lot of water
If you play this coarse bring a bag of balls because hazards are everywhere, challenging but fair so just hit them straight. There are a couple things I didn't like all but one par 3 is around 200 which I don't like and sometimes you have to walk a long way to get your ball then get your distance and the hit but that could be because the coarse was wet, I don't know. All around I will play this coarse again and recommend it to my friends.
Challenging but fun
Course is challenging with plenty of water to deal with. There are a couple of quirks with the layout but for the most part the holes are interesting and offer a variety of challenges using every club in the bag. Conditions were very good though the greens were a little slower than expected. Overall a great value for the $, especially when using a Golf Now hot deal.
Hidden Gem of a Course
I'm disappointed that I haven't played this course until now! WOW! Just beautiful!!! Lots of water, however, not too difficult! I can't say enough about this new favorite of mine.
Great experience for a beginner
Found a great deal on Golf Now and decided to give the course a try. The day was overcast with a few sprinkles & somewhat windy. I am a beginner and a rather inconsistent player. Upon our arrival (1 hr early) we asked if we had time to grab a bite. I am very self-conscious of players waiting behind me. The pro shop attendant was very nice. He and another gentleman told us we had plenty of time. Even after I told him I was a slow player, he told us that the course wasn't busy until later and there'd be no issue with time. He even gave us a coupon for 25% off food and drinks to use immediately. The bartender was as friendly and helpful with lunch recommendations. (Delicious fish n chips & burger). We saw several employees maintaining the grounds throughout play. The bathrooms on the course (important to me) were clean and well-placed. The water hazards on the course were challenging for me, but the course (ball drop) is very well marked and I would feel comfortable coming back and navigating it by myself. They have great golf specials and I hope to be back for Ladies Mondays all season!
solitude "lakes"
really nice course, kind of cool and windy when we played lots of water, nice condition, only negative thing I can say is the guy in the clubhouse accidently? forgot to give me five bucks back when I bought a logo ball and paid with a ten.nice place
The course was in very good condition and the pace of play was perfect. I agree with another comment on the pro shop guy being unfriendly. The same was true last year.
Waitress was efficient and friendly.
Should have kept Fore Lakes name
Nice layout, conditions were pretty good for Spring,. Clubhouse is really nice. Lot's of water and sandtraps. Pro shop gentlemen was unfriendly. Bag drop and cart pick up was very unorganized. $5 Hot dogs are a joke. Pace of play was very slow and no one seemed to care. Not sure I would come back this year, but probably would play again.
Quoted $25, but charged $30 bc pro shop guy said I was misquoted. We played in afternoon, all 4 in our group must have missed signs about picking up a cart before you sign in at proshop, and outing returning carts added to the confusion. $5 for any hotdog is pricey. The outing was not the reason for slow play.
Hello u415322142,
First, thank you so much for coming out and playing our course. We appreciate it very much.
If you don't mind me asking, what was the unfriendly pro shop gentleman's name or what did he look like? We had a 100 person Spring Scramble Shootout that day and had many people working to support the outing.
What was disorganized about the bag drop and pick up? We have signs directing players while in their cars to the bag drop and all the carts are located right in the parking lot.
Our $5 hot dogs are 100% All Beef Nathan 1/4 lb. hot dogs, which are considered one of the best in the nation. Was it the price or quality that was a joke? The person who left a review the very same week loved the hot dog.
In regards to pace of play, we are sorry. As stated above, we had a competitive shoot out for money and it does slow up play. However, they did play in 4:45 which is only 15 minutes longer than our average round. What time did you tee off? Once the outing was done the course was empty because it was a shotgun start.
Thanks again for your comments, as we cannot improve unless we hear from our customers and we hope you come back again this year. The course will be in awesome shape and best ever since opening in 1999.
We do care very much and the name will not be changing back anytime soon, it's just a name and has nothing to do with the day to day operations of a golf course! But once again, thanks for the great review rating. We strive everyday to get better and better.
Fantastic course to play
This course is in beautiful condition, staff is great and the best hotdogs around. I highly recommend this track.
Thanks Jan for the great review, we love the 1/4 lb. All Beef Nathan Hot Dogs too. Hope to see you again soon.
Wow
Nice course will be back !
Tight fairways , lots of hazardous spots
Want to win the 10th !!
Solitude Links Golf Club
I discovered this course last year in September and immediately the course become one of my favorites !!!!!!!!!
I really like everything about the club. My only regret is the location - approximately 50 plus miles.from my home.
Golfing date day
Very nice course. Well worth the money. We drive an hour and a halve. We will golf there again.
Nice course....
I only played 9 holes, so I didn't get a chance to win $$ on #10, not that I would have hit the green....let alone get a hole-in-one! The course was in good shape, the greens held nicely and putted true. I'll come back at some point and play 18.
pick your spots
great course conditions inspite of the dry summer.
starter was great let us out on the back nine to avoid a slow start.
good deal from Golf Now, maybe next time they can split the cost of the bridge toll.
Great value
We make the 1 hr trip here from Canada at least twice/season & it's always worth it.
Hello bbracken,
Can you please let us know who the unfriendly pro shop guy was that helped you today? Was this the same person as last year?
I am so sorry, we will address the pro shop issue right away.
