About
Nestled in a quiet residential community, Shale Creek Golf Club sprawls across land that for a century prior had been the Gunkelman Farm. The course repurposes the rolling terrain into a challenging layout. The subtle changes in elevation make for some tricky lies. There are also many streams that meander through the golf course before cascading into the nearby Rocky River. The river even comes into play from the 10th to the 15th holes. The golf course features large, undulating greens and wide fairways. Water has a dominant presence on the course but the final holes showcase more traditional Ohio terrain with wooded, gently rolling hills though you'll still have plenty of water to contend with on these holes. Shale Creek Golf Club requires accuracy and it will make you think, but it's not too difficult for a beginner to enjoy.

Shale Creek Traps 8/15/2022
Course was in good shape especially tees, fairways, and greens. Traps on back nine were in very poor condition.
Traps had a hard crust and many traps needed to be raked out to make them playable.See hole #12.
One of my favorites
Always enjoy Shale Creek, couldn’t beat the price on the GolfNow hot deal.
The course is always in great shape…
Although this round I was disappointed in the sand traps, they were more like hard dirt, unfortunately this seems to be a trend with most public courses, if public courses do not want the added cost to maintain and add sand to the bunkers then they should just do-away with them and seed them and make them grass traps I guess.
I used to play with a traveling league and most of the time we would just take a free drop no closer to the hole rather than play from the hard inconsistency of the bunkers.
Please order a truckload or two of good sand for your bunkers.
Other wise I really enjoy the track.

Great course
Conditions were amazing. Haven’t been here in a few years but wasn’t disappointed. Pace of play has to be improved. My group has two, and we sat on the tee box, before any of the 4 teed off. Some hit more than 1 ball, then they proceeded to sit there and talk while we are sitting there after they fell a hole behind

I thought the complimentary range balls were a nice touch so you could warm up before playing. However, there was no cart person that brought drinks and snacks out to golfers. There was also no one at the desk when I went in at the turn to ask a question. The most disappointing part of our play was we received a message to let a couple behind us, play through our foursome. We had already been off the hole and waited 10 minutes for this couple to show up to the tee box. we could have teed off and played the hole without any issue. That really did not sit well with my fellow golfers and I. It was a good deal, but I would not play this course for the normal fee. It just is not a reasonable cost.

Nice but underwhelming
Haven't played in couple years and was looking forward to getting back there. Paid 65 bucks for an afternoon round on Friday. Pace of play was good. Coming in at 4.5 hours.
Tee boxes were great shape, fairways were ok. Greens however, were not. Lots of dead spots, and way way way too many unprepared ball marks and very bumpy in general. They were fast, but receptive. Par 3 11th hole, I stuck a 6 iron from 150 and made big crater, and ball stopped nicely for example.
Bunkers were big negative for me as well. I only found 1, which had clearly not been raked or tended to by course in several days. My playing partner found lots of them and had some had nothing more than dry dirt in them. If course is going to have socmany they should take care to maintain better.
GPS in carts was nice. Ours worked l, heard from 2 people making turn theirs didn't.
This was not a 65$ course today. If you can get good deal it's a fun layout that makes you think way around and be smart with club selection, but value at 66 bucks isn't there.

Excellent course except for their range
This is a 5-star course with a 1-star driving range. Really disgusting range. They should be embarrassed. Replace the gross 20-yr old “mats” and put some clean balls out there.
