About
Nestled in a quiet residential community, Shale Creek Golf Club sprawls across land that for a century prior had been the Gunkelman Farm. The course repurposes the rolling terrain into a challenging layout. The subtle changes in elevation make for some tricky lies. There are also many streams that meander through the golf course before cascading into the nearby Rocky River. The river even comes into play from the 10th to the 15th holes. The golf course features large, undulating greens and wide fairways. Water has a dominant presence on the course but the final holes showcase more traditional Ohio terrain with wooded, gently rolling hills though you'll still have plenty of water to contend with on these holes. Shale Creek Golf Club requires accuracy and it will make you think, but it's not too difficult for a beginner to enjoy.

Course in Great Shape
Totally enjoyed Shale Creek...course was in great condition from tee to green for early spring in Ohio. It drains well. Fairways were pretty firm and greens rolled nice. Although not a pure links style course, many holes have a linksy feel to them. Traps needed some TLC as they had not been raked out yet. Plenty of challenge available with back tees over 7000 yds. A bit pricy unless you can land a GN hot deal, which I did.

Great course
I was a member here back when it was semiprivate along with Medina Cc and the Quarry. It’s always been a great course,the layout was well executed on what used to be, literally, a cow pasture.
I belong to a private club now with two courses, but I still come back here to play now and then because I have always loved the layout and the clubhouse is great.
It’s one of the highest quality experiences you can have at a public course in the area

Great course, played 4 weeks prior. Course was in great shape and the greens were fast considering it was mid October.

Great course
Only complaint was the group 2 in front of us.... They bogged down the entire front 9! At one point, there were 3 groups on 7, 2 groups on 6, 3 groups on 5, 8 & 9 we're wife open. One guy had his dog with him....
Thankfully the left after 9 and it was smooth sailing after that....

Great atmosphere
I hadn't been out to Shale Creek in a few years but I definitely will be heading back soon for more rounds. The course is in excellent conditions from tee to green. Plenty of option off the tee help as we all played separate tee boxes and played a 4 hour round. The starter was knowledgeable, friendly and accomodating as well as the restaurant staff. Come here with your game face on, this is a test or patience and putting. Enjoy, 5 stars all the way

Great Course
Great course in Medina County. Would play again. Green roll fast and smooth, fairways in good condition. Tee boxes got a bit tore up with an outing the day before playing.

This course is nice
Overall the course is in nice condition. It’s disappointing that the people go play there do not fix their ball marks on greens which takes away from the course. But the tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers are in nice shape. The biggest drawback was with no starter, it was the Wild West in pace of play. My group was a two-some, there were two singles in front of us, and two two-somes in front of them…somehow we had to wait 5-10 minutes to tee off on EVERY SINGLE HOLE.

Rainy Sunday
Cons: Bunkers are in poor shape prior to the rain they played like wet sand, tons of ball marks on greens not addressed, bartender was on the slow side and oblivious took 20 minutes to get an order in.
Pros: course held up well to the first round of rain unfortunately wasn’t able to finish due to weather
