About
Nestled in a quiet residential community, Shale Creek Golf Club sprawls across land that for a century prior had been the Gunkelman Farm. The course repurposes the rolling terrain into a challenging layout. The subtle changes in elevation make for some tricky lies. There are also many streams that meander through the golf course before cascading into the nearby Rocky River. The river even comes into play from the 10th to the 15th holes. The golf course features large, undulating greens and wide fairways. Water has a dominant presence on the course but the final holes showcase more traditional Ohio terrain with wooded, gently rolling hills though you'll still have plenty of water to contend with on these holes. Shale Creek Golf Club requires accuracy and it will make you think, but it's not too difficult for a beginner to enjoy.

Excellent course except for their range
This is a 5-star course with a 1-star driving range. Really disgusting range. They should be embarrassed. Replace the gross 20-yr old “mats” and put some clean balls out there.

Great Track
Shale creek is one of my favorite course in NE Ohio. The course is always in great shape and surprisingly the pace of play has been great the last couple times I have had a chance to play it.

Definitely a must play
Staff couldn’t of been nicer. From the guy at the pro shop and Ron on the first tee, to the beer cart and staff. Course was very challenging but still had a easy feel to it. Lots of narrow fairways, water and fast greens. Carts have gps and sand on them and the course is spread out so your not really side by side with anyone. Great staff, great pace and even better course

Always enjoyable
Booked a tee time online arrived about 40 min early went to the range had time to hit a few shots before going to the putting range to practice .The starter was checking in with me and advising me of my time before the first tee . Waited for the group in front of me to Make it to the green then started my round .Was able to play my round with no delays moved from hole to hole with only a 10 min wait at the turn . They had a cart person working and was available for beverages all day long .Rob the club pro has really done a great job over the years really one of the best places to play for the money

Course in Great Shape
Totally enjoyed Shale Creek...course was in great condition from tee to green for early spring in Ohio. It drains well. Fairways were pretty firm and greens rolled nice. Although not a pure links style course, many holes have a linksy feel to them. Traps needed some TLC as they had not been raked out yet. Plenty of challenge available with back tees over 7000 yds. A bit pricy unless you can land a GN hot deal, which I did.
