About
Nestled in a quiet residential community, Shale Creek Golf Club sprawls across land that for a century prior had been the Gunkelman Farm. The course repurposes the rolling terrain into a challenging layout. The subtle changes in elevation make for some tricky lies. There are also many streams that meander through the golf course before cascading into the nearby Rocky River. The river even comes into play from the 10th to the 15th holes. The golf course features large, undulating greens and wide fairways. Water has a dominant presence on the course but the final holes showcase more traditional Ohio terrain with wooded, gently rolling hills though you'll still have plenty of water to contend with on these holes. Shale Creek Golf Club requires accuracy and it will make you think, but it's not too difficult for a beginner to enjoy.

Excellent well maintained course. Country Club quality in every way. I like 3 and a half hour rounds and the pace today was 4 hours 15 minutes. Will definitely return to play this course again.

LOVE PLAYING THIS COURSE EVEN WHEN ITS A LITTLE WET,BUT, WHERE ARE THE SENIOR TEES? ITS EITHER PLAY THE WHITE AT ALMOST 6000 YARDS OR THE GREEN AT 5000 YARDS. THERE SHOULD BE SOMETHING IN BETWEEN AS MOST COURSES HAVE 5300-5700 YARDS FOR SENIORS. WHEN YOU HAVE TO STAY ON CART PATHS THEN THE PRICE SHOULD REFLECT A CHANGE AS WELL.

Big Price Tag for Average Course.
The greens were very beat up. There are unfixed divot marks all over that change the path your ball is on. The fringe has missing grass and is nearly impossible to putt thru w accuracy. The bunkers were unraked and in poor condition. The layout is boring and there's no trees on the course. The rate of play was awful is took nearly 6 hours to play 18.

GREAT CONDITION
Wow, course is in great condition with soft greens to stick approach shots. Greens rolled smooth with good speed consistency.
Maintenance crews were working on bunkers, only a few needed some work (grass removal).
Only bad thing, driving range wasnt open and won't be open until next week, so no need to show up early for the free range balls until then..
