New Albany Links Golf Club
About
New Albany Links Golf Club sprawls across gently rolling hills covered with meandering creeks, mature trees, and native grasses and wetlands. There are also a number of lakes throughout that come into play on several holes. The golf course is a fair challenge but it prides itself on its playability. With tees ranging between 4,800 and 7,000 yards, the course accommodates a range of different skill levels. The layout features tree-lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers throughout. New Albany Links Golf Club's 12th hole is one of the course's most memorable. It requires a long drive and an approach that carries past a long bunker and a pond to a narrow green. To the left is certain punishment but a tough up and down waits if you miss right.

Great Track
New Albany Links is a great track with two reachable par 5s, an excellent assortment of par 4s and four medium length par 3s. The course was in good condition and fairly firm given the huge rains we have had over the past three weeks. There are several bunkers that need attention especially the faces. Additional sand is needed in some of the bunkers. It was nice having our foursome finish in four hours on a Sunday afternoon.
bad pro shop experience
We got rained out of our round we had booked on golfnow.com. We played 5 holes until it started raining. Tried to play a few more holes and gave up on #8. Pro shop only gave a raincheck for 1/4 of what we had paid. Ridiculous.
Reliable greatness
I love this course and the layout. Its always maintained well, aside from a few bunkers without sand. But there does seem to be a lot of construction on the course the past few years. Greens were aerated when I played, so it's hard to judge their quality. Staff was great and accommodating! I'll always come and play this course.
Needs help
Being July 1st I would have thought the course would be in better shape. Every trap was a mess, no sand, standing water and rocks. The cart paths are a complete disaster. It's like an off road ralley driving around out there.
Overall the course needs a ton of work and again there are holes under construction. By mid summer a golf course should be in much better shape than NAL. If it wasn't only $20 I'd be upset.
Tough course but a great value!
Had the course almost to ourselves. Pace of play was great and the value was fantastic. Will play this course again.
Nice layout, well maintained even with the rain, driving range closed
Heavy rains the day before had created ruts in the sand traps. Greens, fairways and tee boxes in great shape. Greens run true, consistent and with decent speed. The course will challenge you to hit good shots. The only issue, the driving range is closed for construction. I need at least 10 balls to hit to loosen up. Played here before and the course is always a challenge. From the Blue tees, not too long- but with wet conditions, played a little longer than usual. Rangers were always around and inquiring as to the pace of play. A slower walking group let us play through- very nice. Cart girl hit us about 4 times in 18 holes.
Very challenging
I've read some of the reviews for this course, and agree with most of the good, and some of the bad.
First, the bad...I have to agree with the reviewer about there being no idea how the course is laid out. The scorecard is a joke. All it has is the yardages. Also, there are no diagrams at the tees either. Not having any idea where to hit the ball is ridiculous. To be a top notch course, there should be a map of the course on the card or at the tees. Even more ridiculous is the fact that the range is closed. I was told they had to do a reconstruction due to someone's house being hit on the range. UMMMM, you fix that in the fall and winter. You have the range ready in the spring and summer.
The good. The course is very difficult. Loved the layout. Although it is scary how close some of the houses are to the course. Wouldn't feel guilty if I saw one get hit since they shouldn't be that close. The fairways were great. The greens were pretty good. The traps were o.k. and needed some work. There shouldn't be rocks in the sand.
Because I got a super deal, I was pretty happy, but the range being closed is not acceptable. I'll be back once they have it completed and now that I know the layout.
Who are they setting this course up for ?
The range was closed due to construction. Course was dry and fast. Greens were inconsistent except for being rock hard an not holding. Fescue is a little ridiculous. Makes course unplayable for the average golfer. Not fun having a great drive roll thru a fairway and into the tall grass. Not fun having a approach shot hit the green and bounce off into the tall grass either.
Pristine Condition
New Albany links is a great course. It's challenging, picturesque, well maintained, and a really fun course. I highly recommend it to all players regardless of ability.
Challenging course!
New Albany Links is a well maintained challenging course with a multitude of bunkers and "hidden" streams. The challenge is to hit the ball straight or end up in a bunker or in the tall grass. The hidden streams are really more like low lying marshy areas that cross the fairway and that you cannot see because of the rolling terrain. However, if you play it a few times I'm sure you will know where they are!
If there is anything lacking it is the fact that there are no picture layouts of the holes on the hole markers or the score cards. A bit of a disappointment but nothing big. Lack of a couple of missing directional signs to the holes was one other minor inconvenience. Overall, a challenging and fun course!
Course was in good shape. Greens fast and true.
New Albany Links has great character. Very challanging playing from the back tees. Love the course and played for a great price through Golf Now.
Not a fan of this course
I was very disappointed with this course. It was in decent shape but not being familiar with the course and its layout just made it not fun to play. There were no markings of any kind telling you about each hole so you were blind with tee shots on numerous holes. Bunkers were placed in the middle of fairways where a normal landing area would be. Fairways were extremely small and narrow and you were not rewarded for hitting good tee shots. When you drive a tee shot down the middle 280 yards and you have a shot from the rough and a downhill lie to a pin guarded by a bunker that is what I mean by that. sorry, thats not fun for an amateur golfer in my opinion. If the course would have a book with the layout of each hole I may have had a different opinion. The card didn't even have anything to help as well. For the money it was a good value but it is not a course I would recommend to anyone and or myself would not return to play.
This course needs attention on green condition
Course ii interestingly laid out with adequate sand traps and water hazards which requires calculated playing strategy.
Green was dominated by fungus?? needed to maintain properly..
great course
i would have given this course a 5, and also a pristine , but the bunkers were so poorly maintained i cannot...
Tough course
The roughs were tough to get out of. There were lots of traps and they were in awsome shape, which made them nice to play from. The course was in great shape and I would definitely recommend it.
Good course - challenging layout
This is the third time I have played this course and it is always in great shape and always challenging. It is well maintained from tee to green - the fairways are well maintained and the greens are tricky. You have to know where to place shots both in the fairways and on the greens. I would recommend this to any golfer any time of the golf year.
Poor value.
Simply a poor value. Brought 8 players out, made one reservation with GolfNow, one through the course. Person in the pro shop conveniently forgot to mention that the course had been aerated two days prior to booking the reservation. Greens were bare in spots. While not an awful course, the $54 price tag is far too high given the other great courses in the area. Try Northstar, Royal American, or Winding Hollow as far superior alternatives.
Fast greens
Fast and hard. Greens had trouble holding approach shots but rolled true and consistent on all holes. Nice layout and a very good challenge!
Bunkers need to improved
Great course to play and enjoy. Greens are spotting. Bunkers has no sand at all, almost feel like playing on dirt. Restroom facility need some attention too, leak sink!
