Deer Track Golf Course

About
Tucked away on Cincinnati's east side, Deer Track Golf Course is one of southwestern Ohio's best-kept secrets. The 6,400-yard layout offers a fun yet challenging round with multiple tees. Players of all skill levels will enjoy the course. Water will be your primary concern with hazards coming into play on 14 holes. The signature hole, which is also the course's toughest, is a par-3 island green that will put your accuracy to the test. You'll also have to contend with a few strategically placed bunkers lurking along the rolling fairways and gently undulating greens. In addition to the golf course, Deer Track also boasts a wide range of practice facilities including a driving range, wedge range, a putting green, and a short-game area that measures more than 50 yards.

It's came along way
I've been playing at deer track for the last 7+ years and the fairways have come along way this year! Greens still need some work but it's on the rise. They recently thatched their greens so that might help as well. Flat course but the layout makes up for it. Several challenging holes guarded by water.
Getting better
Overall course has underwent some significant upgrades. Redoing bunkers was a big improvement
I liked it but my brother won't play it again.
Fun layout with interesting par 4's and lots of par 5's and 3's. Mounds, trees, out-of-bounds and/or water on every hole make you think about every hole. Both my brother and I lost a lot of balls because we suck and he won't play it again because he doesn't like losing balls. I buy cheap balls so I don't care. I'll play it again when it comes up on Golf Now.
Deer track
Nice course, good amenities, friendly employees. Plays long but very interesting layout with lots of water
this course has it all water, sand and some long par 3's
The course is somewhat flat and some holes can be wet following a rain storm. Several par 5, some long par threes and water features can make it challenging. Overall it's in good shape and reasonable green fees
On The Right Track
What a difference a year makes! Course was in excellent condition. Tees have had a lot of attention paid to them, and fairways were very improved. As usual, the greens were quick and true. Hats off to the maintenance crew. We will be back soon.
Always a challenge
The layout for the course can be challenging on some holes. The fairways are in fair condition.the greens are in pretty good condition and play slow to medium which may be due to all of the rain we've had. Some of the bunkers need work.
Save your money
Just got back from trying out Deer Track again, which supposedly they greatly improved recently. NOT !!!!
Poorest excuse for a golf course in the region, bar none. Fairways are partially bald in many places, with clover interspersed among the theoretical Zoysia grass. Rough is simply mud with random clumps of crabgrass to break up the monotony and make it generally unplayable, and if it has rained in recent memory, the course is one big swamp, does not drain, period. The only saving grace is that they have Yuengling in the club house, gave them one star just because of that.
Bunkers are weed infested and unraked, Bring some Roundup or a Weedeater with you when you play.
$14 for nine hole walking is a joke, they should pay people for playing there and wasting their time.
Excellent challenges
If water bothers you, stay away from this course. Water is all over the course. Great layout. This course must be played using your head and thinking each club and position to hit the ball. Great challenge for the above average golfer. Greens are mostly flat and average speed. Positioning off the tee is needed. Look forward to playing this course again, now that I kniw the layout better.
Awesome course with a lot of water
Pretty much every hole has some aspect of water. The island green is a cool one. Long par 5s, short 3s. All in all it is a nice place. Friendly and laid back staff. Will definitely return.

Very challenge course with a lot of water
If you're a hack like me, you better bring a lot of extra balls, ha. There are a lot of holes with water on each side or that you have to cross, including an island green hole. The course is very well maintained. The clubhouse is nice, gives a feel of a old hunter's lodge in Montana or something like that. For the price, 18 holes here is a deal.

Deer Track
The overall condition of the course was about average. The greens were well kept, the bunkers were good, the tee boxes were nicely trimmed, but the fairway was an issue (had a lot of barren spots throughout the course). It looks as if they are trying to do a better job which looks promising. The course layout is very nice and can be friendly if you play conservatively and avoid some of the well placed water. I think 25-30$ is a fair price for a round at the conditions currently. If improved, rates could go higher. The staff was very friendly at the shop, which surprisingly can affect your mood from the get go which was nice to feel "welcome." The course is rather far from myself, but the scenic drive is nice. I will play the course again in the future and will be back.
Not great, not terrible
This course is not bad for the price. They are in the middle of changing a lot of the grass, and with the weather we had in this area this year, every course is struggling. I can't comment on the greens, because they had recently been punched so they were not good. I know this course normally has very nice greens though. The fairways were OKAY. Some were pretty bad, but most weren't, certainly playable. Plenty of interesting challenges on this course. Would certainly play again. Everyone I spoke to at the course was VERY nice.
Like playing on dirt
All of the fairways where mostly dirt. Black hard fungus dirt !!! They're working on parts of the course that doesn't even come into to play.but yet let the rest of the course be like a&&&.
More Positives than Negatives
As many of the other recent Golf Now reviews have stated, many of the fairways are not in the best of shape. However, there are quite a few that are in good to excellent condition. I just played lift and place when I had a bare lie in a fairway.
It had been years since I'd played at Deer Track. I had forgotten what an outstanding layout it is! Almost every hole has a distinctive feel to it. It's not a boring course or cookie cutter design in any way.
I had an enjoyable time and shall definitely return to Deer Track.

Hi, u000004897834,
Thank you so much for taking the time to play our course and to provide your comments. We are so happy to hear that you had an enjoyable experience!
We also appreciate your feedback regarding our fairways. After a very rainy summer, we are battling our course's drainage system in conjunction with a lot of water and heat from late July and early August- it did not bode well for our fairways! Our fabulous superintendent has been improving the course's drainage system hole-by-hole for the past 5 years, and will continue making improvements to ensure our fairways do not suffer the same damage that our rainy summers have caused over the past several seasons. While we wish that this could be done quickly, the project does involve various phases spread out over several years. We are very much looking forward to the final product!
We kindly ask that you stick with us and continue to play our course to see the improvements unfold! Thank you for your business!
Best,

STAY AWAY
Worst course I've ever played at. Will NEVER be back. More brown patches in the fairways than there was grass. People playing music in their carts on other greens or fairways that you could hear on every hole we played. People hitting into you on every hole. Our cart was hit on the third hole and a ball landed 5 feet from us on the 4th. Golfers were so clueless they didn't yell fore either time or apologize. That's when we headed for the clubhouse. Told what looked like the pro or superintendent what had happened, and with a grin on his face he said "Oh really? That's crazy." Didn't seem concerned in the slightest. Gave me my $38 back in form of a rain check that I'll never use. All around this course is not for you if you have any integrity or passion for the way this game is supposed to be played. If you want to pay $38 to hang with some hacks and hillbillies. This is the course for you!

Hi, Casey4571037,
Thank you for taking the time to play our course and for providing us with your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your experience at Deer Track did not meet your expectations and that some unruly golfers did not allow you to enjoy your golf game. We do remember speaking with you at the course and recall you expressing your frustration in-person.
While we certainly hate to hear that you were unsatisfied, we also feel it's important to note that the date you played was a Sunday - golf's busiest day of the week! - and we were accommodating 175 golfers, including a small scramble. As it appears you are a frequent golfer, you know better than anyone that when there are lots of people playing that the likelihood of "encountering" other golfers increases greatly, which also increases the chances that your game may not run as smoothly due to slow play, less-experienced golfers, etc. We ask that regardless of where you play (especially on a Sunday!) if you are having troubles with fellow golfers around you, especially when the course is so busy, to please call in to the pro shop. Most golf courses have weekend rangers on duty to assist with slow play, rowdy golfers, etc. We had several rangers on duty that day who would have been more than happy to help with your overall enjoyment of the game.

P.S. As we are a golf course that is committed to providing a family-friendly atmosphere, and a fun course that is challenging to golfers of all skill levels, ages, backgrounds, cultures, education-levels, occupations, etc., we would like to emphasize that we do not discriminate on who plays our course - be it "hacks and hillbillies" as you so eloquently describe, or the upper-echelon of Richville, USA. All are welcome - including you! - and are considered part of the Deer Track family.
Good layout ,bad fairways
I really like the layout of this course. The greens were mostly in good shape, but the big problem was the fairways. The course has had a lot of rain and the fairways had large areas of dead grass and lots of crabgrass and weeds. There was a smell coming from rotten grass. You had to move your ball a lot to find grass to hit from. They said they will be over seeding in the coming weeks. I really hope the course overcomes the problems they are having.

Fairways terrible
Hadn't played this course in a few years. The course conditions were not nearly as good as they used to be. The greens were in good condition but the fairways were absolutely brutal. Most had more bare spots than grass. Those fairways need A LOT of work this fall before I could recommend playing this course.

Not good
The fairways were BAD!!!! The greens were good but the place looked a little unkept. I would not go back.

Hi, steves1959,
Thank you for taking the time to play our course and for providing us with your feedback.
While we certainly are sorry to hear that you were unsatisfied with the course's condition and appreciate your comments, we would like to clarify for others that have not played our course that to say our fairways are "mostly dirt" is quite a stretch. We do acknowledge that several of our holes are in need of improvement from a very rainy and hot summer as portions of our fairways have experienced "burn out" - and we are working hard to ensure this happens!
Our fabulous superintendent has been improving the course's drainage system (which is a big part of the "burn out" issue mentioned above) hole-by-hole for the past 5 years, and will continue making improvements to ensure our fairways do not suffer the same damage that our rainy summers have caused over the past several seasons. While we wish that this could be done quickly, the project does involve various phases spread out over several years - and does involve all parts of the course. We are very much looking forward to the final product!
