About
Carved from pine, oak, and magnolia trees, Cypress Lakes Golf Club tumbles through gently hilly terrain, a rare landscape for a Florida course. Formerly known as the Solutia Golf Club, Cypress Lakes is also covered with hundreds of crepe myrtles and blooming azaleas and of course, cypress trees. Water comes into play on a few holes and the trees can prove to be tricky but the challenges of the golf course are balanced with the generous width of the fairways. The course's playability appeals to a variety of different skill levels, especially with four sets of tees available as well. In addition to the course, there are also extensive practice facilities available at Cypress Lakes Golf Club including an all-grass driving range, a practice putting green, and a practice bunker.

I was visiting the area, escaping the hurricane in the Venice Englewood area. I did not know the course prior to playing there. Overall, I like this course. I was a little frustrated with the speed of the greens, very very slow and I’m used to very fast greens where I normally play. A couple of fairways had construction going on due to installing new cart paths. Temporary inconvenience.
I would play the course again if I was in the area.
Good value
Course is a good value for the price, greens and fairways are nice right now. Will be back.
Great course/value
Staff very friendly and helpful.
Course is an interesting layout.
Some of the tee boxes were in less than desirable condition, fairways were nice, greens were reasonably maintained.
Would enjoy playing again.
Good shape
The course was in pretty good shape overall. Most of the greens were very fast although a couple that were considerably slower stood out. One par 4 was shortened to 3 for the laying of some concrete. Also be aware the range is closed for mowing for a bit on Tuesdays.
Good course with some nice challenges

Usually this course is in good condition.
Normally, this course is in good-very good condition. Today, most of the greens were not cut and super grainy. A lot of the cups had a ridge around the cup causing putts with just enough speed to turn away from the cup. Unfortunately, the course had a rain shower about 20 minutes before our tee time causing things to get backed up at the tee box. We still got around in just over 4-1/2 hours even having to wait and pretty much every tee box due to a slow group several groups in front of us. Normally, this is one of the best deals for the money in the area and the pace of play is normally great. I think this was an isolated incident and would still recommend this course 9 times out of ten.
