Scenic Hills Country Club

About
Unlike many other courses in the state, Scenic Hills Country Club sprawls across a scenic landscape of rolling hills. In addition to the dramatic elevation changes throughout the course, the holes are sharply framed by towering pines that line the fairways. The holes play to generous putting surfaces that provide a variety of hole placements, but its best to play to the middle of the greens since there are strategically placed bunkers guarding all of the greens. Water hazards also come into play on six holes, but they require only minimal forced carries. Scenic Hills C.C. opens with what is arguably its most challenging holes. The par-4 hole plays downhill to a green that is not only protected on both the left and right with bunkers, but there is also a steep-faced bunker that is not visible from the fairway.

Great Fairways.
This course has a great layout with great Fairways, but greens need improvement. Other than that, course was great!
Nice Layout
This course appears to have been a really nice course in its prime. friendly staff. Nice clubhouse. Some challenging holes, elevation changes, etc. The downside is the greens. They need a lot of love. But, overall, for the money on a holiday Monday it was ok. I will go back knowing what to expect.
Course is not great condition.
This course was not great condition. Some greens were impossible to putt straight on. They don’t cut the grass often so you spend most your time looking through the thick grass trying to find your ball ( even when you know the general area you hit it). The staff from the marshal, cart girl, bar/grill, and pro shop were all very friendly and care about you having a great time. I’d say save your money until they can find a good crew to take proper care of the course.
Course needs help.
We started at 11 am. Didn’t help it was 90 degrees H. I. 105.. the fairways were mostly in good shape. T boxes were about a 5.. greens were unbelievably bad. They were mostly sand w/ some crab grass. We started counting it if you were a putter’s length from the hole. We were so frustrated we only played 9.. I don’t think we’ll go back, at any price.
What happened
This course used to be one of the nicer courses in town. I’ve played here a couple times in the last few months and something has happened. It seems like there is no money coming into the course and they are letting that show in the conditions of the course. There is more sand than grass on some of the greens and tee boxes. Forget putting the greens are in such bad shape. The fairways are not in bad shape so that’s a plus. I feel bad for the staff they know the conditions l, but that doesn’t seem to get them down. They are still great and very friendly. The carts are still nice with on board GPS screens! So if you don’t care about putting the go drive some balls and hit some fairway and approach shots. Just don’t plan on seeing any action on the greens.
Get your monies worth
Middle of summer, greens are pretty bad. Did away with one of the holes and made 2 out of 1. My GPS didn't work right after the front 9. The GPS on the cart did not work. Carts muffler was noisy and the tires were low making it hard to steer. Don't get me wrong, i really enjoyed the round of golf and was very friendly.
Greens are horrible
Played with my son and while I was expecting some conditions to be poor, just not this bad!
Need off early I was expecting a slow round. Ended up being about 5 hours which isn't horrible for a Saturday.
The fairways were overall a 8 out of 10. The greens were atrocious. Mostly sand and dirt on almost all the holes
No break on fees to play nor was there any warning about the greens.
Course review
Scenic Hills golf course was a favorite course for many @ 10 years ago. It’s probably the worst kept course in our Pensacola area by far.
Horrible course
The greens were terrible, missing parts of the green with no grass and where there was grass there was weeds. Fairways were also trash with weeds all over. Staff was friendly and only saw the cart girl once. It was very hot and could not even cool down with a cold drink. The cart girl offered to fill the cooler on the cart with ice but guess what? No cooler was on the cart!!! She had to apologize. Won’t be back!
Bad greens
The greens were worst greens i have ever played on and that is saying a lot. will never be coming back.
The greens were under repair but outside of that the course was great. This has been one of the more challenging courses I have played in quite some time due to it requiring me to use every club in my bag.
Course
Fairways are nice and has a good layout. A few challenging holes which is fun.
Pretty rough
1st time playing scenic in years. Greens were an exaggeration of a putting surface. Bald with patches of st Augustine in spots, ball bounces inches in the air with every putt. Fairways were pretty good and course layout is fun. I’d say it’s worth a cart fee to play
No justification makes this course playable - avoid at all costs
Great layout but the course is horrendous. Some water and a greens mower would go a long way. Will never come back here. You can tell this was probably a prominent course at one point. Those days are long gone. Might only be acceptable if you don't plan on putting. Overgrown bunkers, fungus filled greens. I could write a million other reasons. Just don't play here
