Scenic Hills Country Club
About
Unlike many other courses in the state, Scenic Hills Country Club sprawls across a scenic landscape of rolling hills. In addition to the dramatic elevation changes throughout the course, the holes are sharply framed by towering pines that line the fairways. The holes play to generous putting surfaces that provide a variety of hole placements, but its best to play to the middle of the greens since there are strategically placed bunkers guarding all of the greens. Water hazards also come into play on six holes, but they require only minimal forced carries. Scenic Hills C.C. opens with what is arguably its most challenging holes. The par-4 hole plays downhill to a green that is not only protected on both the left and right with bunkers, but there is also a steep-faced bunker that is not visible from the fairway.

The boys
Nice clubhouse and course layout , however there is a lot of bare spots of grass throughout the fairways, otherwise an entertaining course for the money
Just sad
I can imagine Scenic Hills was once an amazingly beautiful golf course and a popular country club, but it’s no longer either of those things. The course is very poorly maintained with evidence of previous storm damage that hasn’t been cleaned up and removed. The fairways are patchy, the tee boxes barren and sandy and the greens have very little healthy grass. When you putt your ball follows crevices and bumps along shoots of crabgrass. There is no way to judge what club will get you through horrible conditions. The clubhouse looks like it once was a place of great gatherings, but it also shows signs of heavy wear and tear to the point of neglect. At the end of our round my husband said it had to be in the top 3 worst places he’s ever played in 40 plus years. The homes along the course also have seen better days. I don’t think we’ll ever play ant Scenic Hills again.
Very Playable for intermediate golfers
The staff is great. The club house is great. However, the course is in poor condition - I realize this is winter golf but, fairways had little to no grass. The greens were very slow and bumpy. There is plenty of room for errant shots and the fairways are open. Being older - 80+, I played from the orange tees which made the course much shorter and most greens reachable. Even though my shots were not the greatest I scored well once I got started - ended with an 86 after a rough start of 6,8,6 first 3 holes (7 over par for 3 holes!). This is a 70 par course as a couple holes were shortened because of? As I have played this course before, Knowing a little of where to "try" to place your drives is a bonus. The putting green is better than most of the actual greens but does represent the speed of the greens.
Scienc country club and golf
This was our first time playing this year. The course was mostly brown and in very bad shape.. Will not be playing on it again.
Terrible conditions
This course is at terrible conditions. Greens are horrible and fairway as well.
100% golf anywhere but here
I really hate leaving negative reviews, but this round was rough from start to finish. The tee boxes were in terrible shape, most of them were uneven, chewed up, or just dirt. It was hard to even set up properly, which obviously throws off your tee shots before you even swing.
The greens were honestly the worst part. I don’t think I’ve ever played on greens this bad. On most holes, putting from three feet felt impossible because the ball would hop, bounce, or just die halfway there. Out of all 18 holes, maybe three or four greens were in anything close to decent condition.
For what they’re charging $50 per person I never would’ve booked a tee time if I knew this was what we were walking into.
What really gets me is that I called ahead because I’d heard the same thing everyone else in town has been saying for months: that the greens have been awful for a long time. The pro shop told me, “They’re in great shape for this time of year.” That was absolutely not the case.
Overall, I’d recommend playing anywhere else. I’d play here again only if the price was cut in half and the course actually got some work done.
Woman’s Course
This is the only course I know of that has senior WOMEN’S tee boxes! This makes it so more fair when playing golf. They always have men’s senior tee boxes and NEVER for the women! So glad that this course caters to women, love it❤️
Great Fairways.
This course has a great layout with great Fairways, but greens need improvement. Other than that, course was great!
Nice Layout
This course appears to have been a really nice course in its prime. friendly staff. Nice clubhouse. Some challenging holes, elevation changes, etc. The downside is the greens. They need a lot of love. But, overall, for the money on a holiday Monday it was ok. I will go back knowing what to expect.
Course is not great condition.
This course was not great condition. Some greens were impossible to putt straight on. They don’t cut the grass often so you spend most your time looking through the thick grass trying to find your ball ( even when you know the general area you hit it). The staff from the marshal, cart girl, bar/grill, and pro shop were all very friendly and care about you having a great time. I’d say save your money until they can find a good crew to take proper care of the course.
Course needs help.
We started at 11 am. Didn’t help it was 90 degrees H. I. 105.. the fairways were mostly in good shape. T boxes were about a 5.. greens were unbelievably bad. They were mostly sand w/ some crab grass. We started counting it if you were a putter’s length from the hole. We were so frustrated we only played 9.. I don’t think we’ll go back, at any price.
What happened
This course used to be one of the nicer courses in town. I’ve played here a couple times in the last few months and something has happened. It seems like there is no money coming into the course and they are letting that show in the conditions of the course. There is more sand than grass on some of the greens and tee boxes. Forget putting the greens are in such bad shape. The fairways are not in bad shape so that’s a plus. I feel bad for the staff they know the conditions l, but that doesn’t seem to get them down. They are still great and very friendly. The carts are still nice with on board GPS screens! So if you don’t care about putting the go drive some balls and hit some fairway and approach shots. Just don’t plan on seeing any action on the greens.
