Fun and challenging
I really enjoyed this golf course. I probably play it more than any other golf course that I play, the staff and management are working very hard to make this course fantastic and it shows I think this course was neglected from previous owners and management, but the new owner and management is putting a significant amount of effort and it shows to turn this place around to be amazing, every staff member that I’ve encountered has always been very friendly and willing to help,
Meadow Mighty Mundane
Course has really deteriorated in every aspect except maybe sand traps and fringe around greens. Greens bumpy torn up and below avg. fairways and teeboxes more dirt and weeds than grass in most places. Won’t be back tilll mgmt cares.
Greens. Tee boxes.
I like the fact that the greens are cut early in the morning but I think they could use a good rolling to take out the bumps. All in all, are foursome was pretty satisfied with the grains. Tee boxes could use a lot of work.
Tee boxes, fairways and approaches.
Tee boxes were little rough but approaches and fairways are improving due to the rain we had.
RobinMeadow Oak improvement
Course after some recent neglect, has actually improved in last 3-4 weeks. Considering drought and cost, greens and fairways have gotten better,
Most are much more playable… putting on most greens and fairways average or above average.
Only suggestion is mowing crews around greens should should cleanup shavings which were around a lot of green fringes.
Not bad, not great
Some of the tee boxes are just dirt, some of the greens have sand pits where they (might) be trying to fix them. The greens are patchy with overseeding so lots of jumping/bouncing putts. Course layout is fun, but conditions could definitely be better. Cart girl is nice, prices about average. Not bad for the fire deal, wouldn't pay full price to play here.
Decent course
I played yesterday with my two boys. We constantly were rush by twosomes and by the 9th hole had to let them pass. Then a foursome quickly caught up to us by the q2 but they were playing from the front Tee's. Went to get lunch after round, 4:30 and kitchen was closed. So over all couse is good, would play here again, friendly staff but above concerns.
Ongoing greens and tea box maintenance going on.
Tee boxes were just resurfaced. Lots of loose dirt. Greens had just been resurfaced. I'm guessing they can use a good rolling to complete the job. All in all pretty good shape
The course has potential
The people that I played with were very friendly and the course was ok
Nice staff, good food, course in substandard mode
The t-Boxes, fareways are not well maintained. On the fairways lots of spots with no grass at all! Greens more or less ok.
Breakfast included - nice offer and good quality.
Pace of play: first 9 slow- improved later. We had to wait on every hole. In front of us a 2-some and ahead of them another 2-some. The marshall did not pair them up to increase speed! Unbelievable.
Goat Ranch
I keep coming back to this course because I live near it and remember what it used to be. The new ownership keeps stating how it's been improved. However, not the case. Tee boxes are bare. What grass is on the fairways is cut so short you might as well be playing in the parking lot. Greens, while showing some improvement have different grasses throughout, bare spots with sand and actual holes left from the prior cup. While the course fees are some of the highest in the area, golfers park on the aprons, are wearing tank tops and have no consideration for others which makes it the slowest playing course I have ever played on. Yesterday they had 5somes playing (were told that the course allows it) and 3 kids playing out of 1 bag (told the course allows it). Needless to say, my round ended after 11 holes and 3 groups on the 12th tee. The only thing good about this course is the staff in the grill. I won't be coming back until the course improves enough to warrant the high fees.
Hidden Gem!
The staff make this place more than just a golf course! The food is great and everyone is genuinely appreciative of your business. Course is always in pretty good shape and pace of play is always good.
have played here many times. Course is in pretty good shape.
Good course to practice your course strategy!
Nice tight course with interesting par 4/5’s. Course is in decent nick and pace of play is good.
Getting better with new management, but.
Love the course set up. But it is the slowest pace of play course in the entire area. Particularly on the weekends. Especially with the Saturday morning scramble group.. Mind numbing.
I quit playing there for a while because the conditions were getting worse, and I simply could not stand the way a guy named Nate treated the golfers. But my friends said the new owners had improved it, which they certainly have. It is in better shape and looks to get better over time. A few downers though. A guy named Nate is still there. The biggest reason I left before, and a number of my friends won’t go back while he is still there. It is shocking that though the new management are all such nice people, and that the staff are all great, why they put up with this man is mind boggling. The players can’t stand him and his coworkers can’t either. The other thing is that while they are doing a great job, the grounds crew has absolutely no courtesy in regards to golfers while playing. They either simply don’t care, or don’t realize how disruptive their behavior is to people taking shots. Maybe they just don’t realize it. And maybe they should move counterclockwise around the course when working. But they are doing a good job of improving the course. Truly.. And that has been no easy task. So good for them regardless..
Other than those two issues, it’s becoming a much better place to play. I am confident they will eventually get the massive amount of pockmarks of the greens, particularly on the front nine. And they could maybe try to convince the regular golfers in some way to respect the course more. Especially in fixing ball marks on the greens. I can often fix 6 or 7 fresh marks on each green. And that is likely the reason they have so many pock marks. I can’t seem to do a good job fixing old ball marks that have cured.
So it would be 4 stars without Nate. 5 Stars if the grounds crew were more aware of their presence and distracting behavior, and they could fix the marks on the greens. But the greens are much better than they used to be. The whole course is much better. It really is exciting to see the improvements. And the new GM is friendly, personable and seems to be very bright. He will certainly make it a much better place. Hopefully he will get some of his great attitude instilled into his head grounds keeper as well. The future seems bright for this little course. Especially with new hires like Kristin, and regular staff members like Christina, who are always awesome and friendly. The starters and people who drive around the course maintaining trash and such are all great people. A wonderful crew. PS: Some sort of driving area, at least for short irons would be great.
