Beware of the clown on the first tee
Been golfing there with two of my buddies for over three years checked in the pro shop. The lady Who knows us by name was a sweetheart. Got the Golf Cart guy was a class act get to the first T he’s a clown. Lost my slip made me go in the pro shop and get another slip. The problem is we Golf Pass members and he’s a resident member. and doesn’t like that we pay half the price that he does to play there. I said to him you can’t get a cart unless you check in with your slip he doesn’t care give some people power. This is what happens.
Great place to play
I play here almost ever weekend. The only thing I dislike is being paired up and the course saying it’s because I booke on GolfNow. The restaurant is under new management over the past few weeks, prices have increased which is probably why it appeared closed Sunday . Food was good and staff is friendly we will see how this goes.
But for golf always in very good condition and look forward to next round.
Notify of Aerification
Would be nice to know the course had just done an aerification on the greens and parts of some fairways. Nice layout when the course heals.
Drinking water! Topography.
In the Florida heat, it is essential for golf courses to have readily available drinking water every 3-4 holes, particularly in an area where many of the golfers are seniors. 1 source to refill a 20 ounce travel cup per nine holes is inadequate in 100+ heat index. I filled my 30 oz mug once, but ran out again B4 the 8th hole Water is like oxygen, it is critical when you're not getting enough. On the flip side, despite the recent aeration, it is evident that the greens would be wonderful when the aeration holes have completely healed. This course is challenging because of the elevation changes, unusual for courses in the vicinity of The Villages.
Rough shape
Greens were punched but there wasn’t any notification online. Fairways were patchy and not mowed in a while. The last time a played the course in March it was in much better shape.
Aerification ruin
Nice course but the Aerification ruined the day. Would have been nice to know about the course condition before booking. Other course list this maintenance when it is a factor.
Even aerated
What a wonderful track. Fairways were amazing, tee boxes were fantastic. The greens were sandy but even this did not take away from this round. Great job Water Oak.
Pace of play
Good course, friendly staff but pace of play needs to be monitored closer.
Interesting course to play in very good condition
We played early in the morning so with only a twosome in front of us we played it in less than 3 hours. The tee boxes are good, the fairways are well kept and the greens are great. Pretty fast with some ondulations. Not many sand traps but well raked with enough sand in them to allow good shot making. Enjoyed playing this course and will return.
Clubhouse staff need better training
I decided to take my wife to this course because I had played it before for her first round of golf. She was told she could not play because she was out of dress code, even though she was in modern women’s golf attire, very modestly covered and dressed. I was not very pleased since I had booked on GolfNow and it was a hot deal. There was no refund that I was able to get. They told us that she could buy a different shirt for sale in the shop. A $75 shirt. Finally, they gave me a rain check for us to come back. We decided to come back today, which the gentleman told us today they should have given us a warning if she was “out” of dress code. Then they forced us to rent a second set of clubs for my wife when she has only practiced and used mine. They forced us to pay for it, or we would not let us continue. None of these “guidelines” were made aware to us, and they did not show us where it says it in their rule book. Honestly, such a horrible experience and a waste of my Saturday morning with my wife and such a bad repeat experience today. I would not recommend dealing with these people. I never write reviews nor do I hardly ever have bad experiences because I am a very understanding person. In the clubs that they gave us for her as the rental were drastically too short, and she could not even use them.
The groundskeepers in the cart workers were excellent the clubhouse workers zero stars
